Puji dan syukur penulis panjatkan kehadirat Allah yang Maha Pengasih dan Maha Penyayang atas berkat, rahmat dan anugrah-Nya sehingga penulis dapat menyelesaikan karya ilmiah ini. Shalawat dan salam semoga selalu tercurah kepada junjungan kita Nabi besar Muhamad Saw yang selalu kita harapkan syafaatnya di hari akhir. Karya ilmiah berjudul “Pengaruh Manfaat Membaca Terhadap Prestasi Siswa”. Karya ilmiah ini diajukan untuk memen memenuhi uhi Tugas Bahasa Indonesia di Universitas Islam Nusantara Bandung. Kandungan dalam karya ilmiah ini membahas tentang manfaat membaca bagi siswa dan peran guru dalam pembiasaan membaca terhadap siswa agar berprestasi. Hasil dari penulisan karya ilmiah ini adalah manfaat membaca itu sangat berpengaruh terhadap prestasi siswa. Interaksi atau berkomunikasi dengan orang lain tentunya harus ada pemikiran yang benar, baik dan mempunyai ilmu pengetahuan yang luas agar menjadi orang terhormat. Oleh karena itu, peran guru sangat penting dalam pembiasaan membaca bagi setiap siswanya agar menjadi berprestasi. Akan tetapi, karena hidup dalam lingkungan social dan budaya tertentu, maka pembiasaan membaca bagi individu seseorang harus di selaraskan dengan lingkungan keluarga khususnya factor orangtua dan juga harus di selaraskan dengan lingkungan masyarakat. Artinya, peran guru tidak cukup dalam pembiasaan siswa agar terus membaca,dan oleh karena itu harus adanya kerjasama antara lingkungan keluarga ,masyarakat dan lingkungan sekolah. Penulis menyadari bahwa selesainya karya ilmiah ini tidak terlepas dari semua pihak yang telah member dukungan, saran, motivasi dalam menyelesaikan karya ilmiah ini yang tak mungkin sebutkan satu persatu.

ABSTRAK
Manfaat membaca dalam arti sebenarnya adalah pemahaman akan suatu bacaan yang di aplikasikan dalam kehidupan dan mempengaruhi karekter suatu individu dalam kehidupannya. Dan dengan membaca orang akan mempunyai pengetahuan baru dan ilmu baru dari hasil bacaannya tersebut. Dengan demikian dapat dikatan bahwa manfaat membaca sangatlah berpengaruh terhadap karakter pribadi seseorang. Mengingat tuntutan umur dan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, yang ruang lingkupnya telah melebar maka di haruskannya membaca bagi semua individu. Peran seorang guru sangatlah di butuhkan agar membentuk siswa yang berprestasi baik dalam akademik ataupun nonakademik, manfaat membaca akan mengarah pada pertumbuhan yang seimbang dari kepribadian total manusia melalui giat belajar membaca dan mendatangi perpustakaan-perpusatakan yang ada untuk menghasilkan siswa yang intelek, rasional diri, dan berprestasi. Karena itu manfaat membaca akan merubah aspek hidupnya. Kaitannya

akan
menumbuhkan karakter lebih dekat dengan akhlaq, yaitu spontanitas siswa dalam bersikap, dan melakukan perbuatan dengan berpikir sebab dan akibatnya. Dasar-dasar nilai manfaat membaca mempunyai visi dan misi yang sama yaitu: membentuk siswa yang berakhlak, bermoral, beretika, atau dengan kata lain manfaat membaca akan merubah tingkahlakunya sesuai kaidah moral.

ABSTRACT
Benefits of reading in the true sense is a reading comprehension will be applied in life and affect the character of an individual in his life. And by reading the person will have new knowledge and new knowledge from reading the results. Thus it can be dikatan that the benefits of reading are very influential on one's personal character. Given the demands of life and the development of science and technology, which has widened the scope in haruskannya read for all individuals. The role of a teacher is in the need to form students who excel both in academic and nonakademik, the benefits of reading will lead to a balanced growth of the total human personality through active learning to read and visit the existing libraryperpusatakan to produce students who are intelligent, rational self, and achievement. Therefore, the benefits of reading will change aspects of his life. Relation to a teacher in the formation of student achievement will grow closer to the moral character, the spontaneity of students in attitude, thinking and doing with the causes and consequences. The basics of the benefits of reading to have the same vision and mission are: to form students who have a certain character, moral, ethical, or in other words the benefits of reading will change according to the rules of moral behavior.

BAB I PENDAHULUAN A. Latar Belakang Masalah
Permasalahan dalam membaca merupakan hal yang sangat tidak di sukai oleh Sebagian orang dikarenakan pemikiran tentang manfaat membaca tidak di pikirkan secra mendalam. Permasalan pada saat ini adalah paradigm tentang pemikiran membaca yang selalau menjenuhkan yang tidak hanaya terjadi pada seorang siswa melainkan sering terjadi pula pada orang tua. Memasuki abad 21, ada tiga kekuatan pendorong yang mampu melakukan perubahan terhadap dunia, yaitu perkembangan iptek, modernisasi dan industrialisasi, serta konflik kepentingan dan kompleksifitas perubahan. Tiga kekutan tersebut haruslah di sertai dengan giat membaca karena dengan membaca orang akan mempunyai pengetahuan baru. Urusan dunia jauh diperhatikan dari pada urusan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, jadi untuk memperoleh suatu prestasi dan kesuksesan dunia akhirat adalah dengan gemar membaca dan gemar menulis suatu karya ilmiah. Solusi dari masalah akan kurangnya minat baca adalah dengan berperan pentingnya seorang guru, orang tua yang akan berpengaruh seorang siswa agar dapat berprestasi dan sukses. Yaitu dengan cara kerjasamanya lingkungan sekolah, lingkungan keluarga untuk menanamkan minat baca bagi seorang anaknya.

Manfaat Membaca
Menurut ” (Widarso: 1994). Mendidik kepribadian dapat dilakukan melalui buku. Dengan membaca buku seseorang akan memiliki ilmu dan pengetahuan yang luas, dari situ ia dapat membedakan mana yang baik dan mana yang buruk sehingga akan terbentuk pribadi yang jauh lebih baik dari sebelumnya. Dalam hal ini, membaca dapat diartikan “membaca untuk hidup”, artinya membaca agar kita bisa hidup lebih baik, lebih arif, lebih mengerti „tabiat‟ dunia. Sedangkan Sijanto dkk: (1984) memahami bahwa: Selain itu kepribadi manusia itu dapat berubah, itu berarti kerpibadi manusia itu mudah atau dapat dipengaruhi oleh sesuatu. Karena itu ada usaha mendidik kepribadi, membentuk kepribadi, membentuk watak atau mendidik watak. Artinya berusaha untuk memperbaiki kehidupan anak yang nampak kurang baik, sehingga menjadi baik. Hal yang selaras di sampaikan oleh pakar ( Heuken: 1989) “Dengan membaca pula seseorang akan terbentuk kepribadiannya menjadi lebih baik. bidang studi pada kelas-kelas berikutnya. Oleh karena itu, anak harus belajar membaca agar ia dapat membaca untuk belajar. Membaca adalah salah satu inti dari belajar. Hal ini sesuai dengan yang dikemukakan dalam PP RI No. 19 Tahun 2005 Pasal 21 ayat 2 bahwa “pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran dilakukan dengan mengembangkan budaya membaca dan menulis”.
Selama ini kegiatan membaca kurang di kerjakan. Kesibukan dan aktivitas yang relative tinggi, kurangnya pemahaman orang tua dalam mendidik agar anak gemar membaca menjadi factor utama, pengaruh guru di lingkungan sekolah dan pengaruh lingkungan pergaulannya menjadi factor anak untuk tidak giat membaca. Manfaat membaca dalam pembentukan siswa yang berprestasi adalah dengan mengaplikasikan ilmu pengetahuannya tersebut dalam kehidupan, dengan demikian, manfaat membaca kan menumbuhkan rasa terus ingin membaca. B.
Tujuan membaca
Tujuan manfaat membaca terhadap prestasi siswa adalah: 1. Mengembangkan potensi kalbu/nurani/afektif siswa sebagai manusia yang mempunyai karakter pribadi yang bernilai positif; 2. Mengembangkan kebiasaan membaca dalam kehidupan sehari-hari;

Sedang motivasi ekstrinsik merupakan motivasi yang timbul karena adanya dorongan dari luar diri siswa. Motivasi merupakan sesuatu yang menjadi pendorong timbulnya suatu tingkah laku/perbuatan. Dalam hubungan ini, baik motivasi instrinsik maupun motivasi ekstrinsik dapat mendorong dan membuat anak tekun untuk belajar membaca.
