I) O que é TAEKWON-DO Traduzindo literalmente do coreano, Taekwon-Do significa:
TAE: Saltar, voar, chutar ou quebrar com o pé. KWON: Socar ou destruir com os punhos. DO: Arte, caminho, método (segundo a filosofia oriental, "o caminho construído pelos santos e sábios"). Conceitualmente, Taekwon-Do é arte marcial de combate sem armas, para defesa pessoal, envolvendo a habilidade do emprego de pés, p és, mãos e punhos. Taekwon-Do é: -Espírito de aperfeiçoamento -Defesa pessoal -Destreza física -Arte Não impondo barreiras de idade ou sexo para a sua prática, o Taekwon-Do oferece uma série de benefícios à saúde mental e física, uma vez que atua como um todo nos sistemas cárdio-pulmonar e locomotor do individuo, desenvolvendo coordenação, equilíbrio, força muscular, etc. A repetição dos movimentos desenvolve a paciência, e o poder que o aluno adquire lhe dá autoconfiança. A luta ensina humildade, coragem, estado de alerta e autocontrole. Os exercícios fundamentais proporcionam precisão e conhecimento do método, princípio e propósito. Os tuls (formas) desenvolvem harmonia e beleza nos movimentos. O Taekwon-Do contribui no processo de amadurecimento do praticante estimulando estimulando a sensibilidade e percepção. p ercepção. Contudo, para que os leigos possam compreender quais fatores marcam as diferenças das artes marciais entre si, podemos estabelecer alguns parâmetros: Podemos dividir as artes marciais de combate corpo a corpo em 2 grupos: um que se utiliza de projeções, quedas e torções, como: judô, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu; e outro grupo que usa os pés, as mãos e outras partes do corpo (cotovelos, joelhos) para golpear e bloquear: Karatê, Kung-Fu, Taekwon-Do... Neste segundo grupo, o Taekwon-Do destaca-se principalmente principalmente por sua maneira própria de explicar e executar seus movimentos, aplicando leis científicas que não se conheciam a centenas de anos atrás. Por isso, o Taekwon-Do é considerado uma arte marcial moderna. Escreveu General Choi Hong Hi: “Em março de 1946,

III) Origem e História do TAEKWON-DO Apesar de recentemente introduzido no Ocidente, o Taekwon-Do (pronuncia-se têcuondô) possui raízes muito antigas, embora tenha sido institucionalizado com este nome apenas no ano de 1955. Em 670 d.C. a Coréia era dividida em três reinos: Kogoryo, Baek Je e Silla, este o menor deles, que era constantemente invadido e saqueado pelos seus dois vizinhos. Para defender Silla, foi criado um grupo de d e guerreiros, formado por jovens oficiais militares e aristocratas, aristocratas, que além de treinados em diversas formas de luta e manejo de armas (lança, arco e flecha, bastão,...) tinham severa disciplina física e mental. Este grupo transformou-se em um temido e respeitado corpo de guerreiros de elite chamado HWARANG (semelhante aos samurais do Japão). Os Hwa-Rang tinham o seguinte código de honra: 1- Ser leal ao rei. 2- Ser obediente aos pais. 3- Honrar os amigos. 4- Nunca se retirar de uma batalha. 5- Matar com justiça. Evidências históricas comprovam que essas lutas se assemelhavam assemelhavam ao Taek Kyon, que foi o aprimoramento de várias lutas, dentre elas o Soo Bak Gi. Com certeza essa é a origem do desenvolvimento das artes marciais na Coréia, porém com o passar do tempo, as dinastias que se seguiram passaram a adotar uma postura antimilitar, o que veio a marcar o início de um período de cultura civil que quase culminou com o fim das artes marciais da Península Coreana . Vendo que era impossível desenvolver o nobre ideal do Taekwon-Do sob o regime de então da Coréia do Sul, que tentava reduzir o Taekwon-Do a instrumento político, o General CHOI HONG HI mudou a sede da I.T.F de Seul para Toronto (Canadá) em 1972, e novamente a mudou, em 1985, 198 5, para Viena (Áustria), a fim de ter um centro de atividades mais proveitoso. IV) O TAEKWON-DO no Brasil Em julho de 1970, o General CHOI HONG HI envia para o Brasil o Instrutor Internacional Sr. Sang Min Cho, 6º Dan, que introduz o Taekwon-Do no estado de São Paulo. Após a mudança da ITF para o Canadá, surge na Coréia, no ano de 1973, uma nova organização intitulando a "controladora" do Taekwon-Do em nível mundial (The World Taekwon-Do Federation - W.T.F.), com o intuito in tuito de preencher o vazio que havia ficado no Taekwon-Do na Coréia do Sul, que através da força política, obrigou os instrutores sulcoreanos em todo o mundo a se subordinarem a esta nova organização, prejudicando, por este motivo, a estruturação da ITF em nosso país. A ignorância tanto histórica como político-administrativa por parte da grande maioria de praticantes de Taekwon-Do do Brasil, contribui ainda mais para que um monopólio exercido por coreanos continue obtendo grande projeção.

Após o seminário, realizou-se o exame para qualificação de instrutores e árbitros internacionais, internacionais, ministrado pelo General CHOI HONG HI, conferindo a graduação de 5º Dan ao Sr. Raúl Hector Sanchez (atualmente 7º Dan), e 4ºDan para os senhores Djalma Santos, Taney Campos e Severino Siqueira. Em documento recebido em 14 de agosto de 1990, os referidos senhores tornam-se representantes representantes oficiais da International Taekwon-Do Federation no Brasil. Com o falecimento do general Choi Hong Hi, em 15 de junho de 2002, 20 02, o TaekwonDo sofreu divisões a nível internacional, devido a interesses políticos e econômicos por parte de alguns membros da ITF que qu e até então nunca haviam sido sequer cogitados para a sucessão. No dia 11 de setembro de 2003, através do convite do instrutor Edimir Kawakubo - IV Dan, o Brasil recebe a visita do Mestre Choi Jung Hwa, presidente da ITF, filho do criador do Taekwon-Do e único herdeiro fiel a filosofia, tradição e técnica do general Choi Hong Hi, eleito legalmente durante o congresso realizado em Rimini, no ano de 2001. Foi realizado, então, um ciclo de eventos, dentre os quais qu ais palestras sobre a atual situação da ITF no mundo (aspectos gerais e legais), assim como o I Curso Internacional de Atualização Atualização Técnica ITF, realizada no País. Acompanharam e auxiliaram o Mestre Choi, o Mestre Néstor Galarraga Galarraga - VII Dan, Diretor de Torneios e Arbitragem da ITF e Presidente P residente da TAA, o Sr. José Maidana - VI Dan, Secretário Geral da TAA e o Sr. Christopher Howes - IV Dan, assistente do Mestre Choi. No dia 13 de setembro, Mestre Choi nomeou o Sr. Edimir Kawakubo, Representante Representante Oficial da ITF no Brasil, e no dia 15 de setembro, recebeu do Mestre Galarraga a Direção Direção de Torneios e Seletivas Nacionais, perante a ITF. Os Srs. Waldyr Vilhena, Omar Começaña, Raphael Ayres, Daniel Swire e Thais de Castro desempenharam papel fundamental para a realização deste processo de reestruturação reestruturação da ITF em nosso País.

3-Perseverança Este princípio define a força de vontade e espírito de sacrifício que se encontram em todas as artes marciais. Para se alcançar algo, com o alto grau de d e perfeição de uma técnica, deve-se determinar o objetivo e persistir constantemente. Um dos fatores importantes para se tornar um bom praticante de Taekwon-Do é o de superar cada dificuldade através da perseverança.
4-Autocontrole É extremamente importante dentro e fora do DO JANG, quer referindo-se a um combate ou a um assunto pessoal.
