CWS WL130-CR460, Cable Reeler CR460 with Layout Boom Installation/Operation and Parts Manual 1.0 Specifica Specification tionss 1. The CWS CWS CR460 CR460 cable cable reeler reeler is an an attachme attachment nt for for pick-up and payou payoutt of heavy heavy electrical cable cable onto CWS CR460 cable drums. It is equipped equipped with a cable layout boom and grapple grapple for positioning positioning the cable on on the ground, ground, ensuring even winding of the cable on the drum and connecting connecting the cable plug plug to the drum. It is powered hydrauli hydraulically cally from from the mobile mobile carrier carrier that it is mounted mounted on. The CWS CWS CR460 CR460 cable reeler comes with an Electrical Intercept kit that allows the CAT third valve to be controlled by the CWS electrical control system. 2. The CWS CWS CR460 CR460 cable cable reeler reeler is controll controlled ed using using a Magnetek Magnetek remote remote contro controller ller in in conjunction conjunction with Saur-Danfoss proportional valves that allow for full proportional control of the cable reeler as well as proportional control of the functions on the cable layout boom and grapple.
2.0 Cable Reeler Installation 1. Install and adjust the Electrical Intercept Kit in the machine following the diagram and pictures on drawing 522 491A. 2.
Connect 24V power to a switch in the cab , connect the power wire from th e reeler and power to the attached connector in the electrical intercept unit so that they are
both powered at the same time through the switch. 3. The flow must be adjusted to a maximum 35-38 GPM at maximum engine RPM by adjusting electrical intercept unit and using a flow meter. 4. Connect hydraulic lines from the machine to the corresponding connectors on the cable reeler following the instructions on drawing 523088B.
2.1 Adjustable Controller Cab Mount Installation 1. Mount the adjustable control (522607B) to a solid structure in the cab, such that the Magnetek Radio Remote can be used from the operator’s seat and folded away when not in use. 2. Install the battery charger for the Magnetek Radio remote in a secure location in the cab and ensure that is wired into keyed power so it does not drain the machine battery when the machine is not started.
2.2 Start-up Procedure
1. Ensure all electrical and hydraulic connections are in place and tightened. 2. Switch on power to the cable reeler using the switch mounted in the cab. That will disable the 3rd valve lever and give control to the cable reeler. 3. Make sure that the transmitter battery is fully charged. 4. Start and warm up the machine. 5. Make sure that the e-stop button on the Magnetek transmitter is disengaged (pull up). 6. Turn on the Magnetek Transmitter in the cab by moving the off-on-start toggle temporarily to the start position and release. Watch the LCD display for errors. When the display indicates 100% signal the unit is ready for use. 7. Slowly engage each of the functions to ensure their proper operation. 8. Once all operations are tested the unit can go into operation. Check speeds on the functions by running them with the paddles at full stroke. 9. If the E-Stop button is pushed during operation all functions will stop until the transmitter is reset. To do so disengage the E-Stop button by pulling on it until it pops up. Restart the unit using the start-up instructions described above.
3.0 Operation of the Cable Reeler
Warning: This attachment is not meant to be used as a lifting device. The tool is designed solely for layout and retrieval of mine electrical cable. Use extreme caution when operating the unit around personnel on the ground or other machines. It is the operator’s responsibility to ensure safe operation of the unit. Note 1: The layout boom should be hooked on the storage location when not in use. There is a hook on the underside of the stick that should be hooked to the storage bar on the back right hand side of the cross arm weldment when not in use. Note 2: The cable reeler should be operated with the base parallel to the ground. 3.1 Picking up a Drum Ensure the drum lock bars on the lift arms are disengaged. Manipulate the cable reeler into position with the arms on either side of the drum. The machine may have to be maneuvered forwards or backwards or articulated side to side to accomplish this. When the lift hooks of the arms are directly below the drum pin, raise the cable reeler to pick up the drum. Ensure the bearing carriers on the drum rest evenly in the hooks in the reeler. The drum lock bars must be engaged manually to prevent the drum from bouncing out of the cable reeler hooks when traveling on uneven ground. 3.2 Picking up Cable from the ground
The layout boom grapple can be used to pick up cable from the ground and hold it in place for placement and tie off of the cable pothead. The cable can either be lifted into place manually by placing it through the rollers on the grapple or by dragging it in using the two hooks on the rear of the grapple. Once the pothead is tied off to the drum the grapple can be positioned to spool the cable smoothly onto the drum. The layout boom can be articulated back and forth across width of the drum to keep the cable even.
3.3 Placing Cable The layout boom can also be used for cable placement. Place the cable pothead in the grapple and pay out the reel to allow placement of the pothead for connection to the end of the last cable. Lay out the cable using the layout boom to position it where desired. It is best to do this while backing away from the connection. At times it may be desirable to pay out the cable then reposition it using the layout boom if the location cannot be accessed in one pass.
