Listen and enjoy the short story titled "The Greedy Hippo".
Rearrange the jumbled sequence of the story correctly.
Answer the worksheet consists of 5 WH-Questions correctly

(SET INDUCTION: 3 minutes)
(a)The teacher shows 3 pictures of food
-Pie
-Sandwich
-Cake
(b)The teacher will then ask the pupils what they had for breakfast today.
Listening: Pupils listen to the question and they will respond by telling the class what they had for breakfast,
Pupils are to stand and tell the class what they had for breakfast
(PRE LISTENING: 10 minutes)
Before showing the video, the teacher tells the pupils to remember the sequence of the story well.
-Which event comes first
-Who are Hippo's friends
-When did the events happen
WH-Questions – to check pupils understanding of the story
Constructivism – Based on their prior knowledge of WH-Questions, pupils answer the questions.
Remember to tell the pupils what to look for before showing the video.
(WHILE LISTENING: 10 minutes)
The teacher prepares five cards with jumbled sequence of the story. She will then pick one student at a time to pick a card and place it on the board. The next selected student will continue the sequence of the story by placing another piece of card and the procedure goes on until the final card.
Application: Pupils use the information that they gained when listening to the video to sequence the story correctly.
Make sure that the student reads all five of the jumbled sequence cards before making his/her decision and not just simply pick the sequence.
(POST LISTENING: 5 minutes)
Before reshowing the video, the teacher tells the students to look for answers to 5 questions:
-Who are Hippo's friends?
-Where were Hippo when his friends saved him?
-What are the ingredients in the pie that was given to Hippo?
-When did Hippo leave town?
-How did Hippo's friends teach Hippo a lesson?
The teacher shows the video to the pupils.
The teacher gives a worksheet consists of 5 WH-Questions
Application: Pupils use the information that they gained when listening to the video to answer the questions in the worksheet.
Group A (Good): Answer correctly 5 out of 5 given questions.
Group B (Average): Answer correctly 4 or 3 out of 5 given questions
Group C (Below Average): Answer correctly 2 out of 5 given questions.
Give further explanation/help to pupils who face difficulty in understanding the questions given
(CLOSURE: 2 minutes)
Ask pupils what are the moral values that they have learnt in the lesson
-Why is it important to practice the moral values
-When can they practice it
Recapitulation – To enable pupils to recall the story that they had listened to
Moral values – Integration of moral values so that pupils can inculcate them in their daily lives.
Can let children to list out the Hippo's attitude or actions in the story that they should not follow.
