I. Pendahuluan
1.1 Latar belakang
Pantai adalah gambaran nyata interaksi dinamis antara air, angin dan material (tanah). Angin dan air yang bergerak membawa material dari tempat ketempat lain. Mengikis tanah dan kemudian mengendapkannya mengendapkannya di suatu tempat secara kontinyu. Sehingga terjadi perubahan garis pantai. Energi yang diperoleh untuk gerakan air dan angin sebagian berasal dari pemenasan matahari. dan sebagian berasal dari gaya-gaya astronomi (matahari, bulan dan bumi). Perpindahan angin atau udara terjadi karena adanya perbedaan pemanasan sinar matahari yang tidak merata di suatu lokasi. Perbedaan sinar matahari ini pun menyebabkan terjadinya pergerakan air laut (arus laut) selain juga adanya aliran suangai dari muara. Rentang (range) pasang surut dan kekuatan arus pasang surut ditentukan oleh kombinasi efek gravitasi matahari. Sedangkan gelombang terjadi karena hembusan angina dipermukaan air. Daerah dimana gelombang di bentuk disebut daerah pembangkit gelombang (wave generating area). Gelombang yang
terjadi di pembangkit disebut “sea” sedangkan gelombang yang terbentuk diluar
pembangkit disebut “swell” ketika gelombang menjalar, partikel air bergerak bergerak dalam suatu lingkaran vertical kecil dan tetap pada posisinya selagi bentuk dan energi gelombang berjalan maju. Patikel air dipermukan bergerak dalam sebuah lingkaran besar dan membentuk puncak gelombang di puncak lingkaran dan lembah gelombang pada lintasan terendah. Dibawah permukaan, air bergerak dalam lingkaran linkaran kecil hingga kedalaman yang lebih besar dari
½ panjang

II. Tinjauan Pustaka
2.1 Pantai
Pantai merupakan batas antara wilayah daratan dengan wilayah lautan. Dimana daerah daratan adalah daerah yang terletak diatas dan dibawah permukaan daratan dimulai dari batas garis pasang tertinggi. Sedangkan daerah lautan adalah daerah yang terletak diatas dan dibawah permukaan laut dimulai dari sisi laut pada garis surut terendah, termasuk dasar laut dan bagian bumi dibawahnya (Triadmodjo,1999). Daerah pantai atau pesisir adalah suatu daratan beserta perairannya dimana pada daerah tersebut masih dipengaruhi baik oleh aktivitas darat maupun oleh aktivitas marine.
Pantai adalah daerah di tepi perairan sebatas antara surut terendah dan pasang tertinggi.
Garis Pantai adalah garis batas pertemuan antara daratan dan lautan.
Daratan Pantai adalah daerah ditepi laut yang masih dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas marine.
Perairan Pantai adalah perairan yang masih dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas daratan.

Sempadan Pantai adalah daerah sepanjang pantai yang diperuntukkan bagi
pengamanan dan pelestarian pantai.
Morfologi Pantai
Pesisir merupakan daerah yang sejalur dengan tempat pertemuan daratan dengan dengan laut mulai dari batas muka air laut pada waktu surut terendah menuju ke arah darat sampai batas tertinggi yang mendapat pengaruh gelombang gelombang pada waktu badai. Hal ini sejalan dengan hasil rapat koordinasi BAKOSURTANAL (1990) dalam Sutikno (1999: 1) dijelaskan bahwa batas wilayah pesisir arah ke darat tersebut ditentukan oleh:
Pengaruh sifat-sifat fisik air laut, yang ditentukan berdasarkan seberapa jauh pengaruh pasang air laut, seberapa jauh flora yang suka akan air akibat pasang tumbuh (water loving vegetation) dan seberapa jauh pengaruh air laut ke dalam air tanah.
Pengaruh kegiatan bahari (sosial), seberapa jauh konsentarasi ekonomi bahari (desa nelayan) sampai arah ke daratan.
Berdasarkan pada batasan wilayah pesisir, maka pesisir merupakan daerah yang mempunyai daerah yang terluas dari ketiga istilah di atas, sebab pesisir mencakup wilayah darat sejauh masih mendapat pengaruh laut dan sejauh mana wilayah laut masih mendapat pengaruh dari darat (aliran air tawar dan sedimen). Surf zone adalah daerah yang terbentang antara bagian dalam dari gelombang pecah sampai batas naik-turunnya gelombang di pantai.
Breaker zone zone adalah daerah dimana terjadi gelombang pecah.
Swash zone adalah daerah yang dibatasi oleh garis batas tertinggi naiknya gelombang dan batas terendah turunnya gelombang di pantai.
Offshore adalah daerah dari gelombang (mulai) pecah sampai ke laut lepas.
Foreshore adalah daerah yang terbentang dari garis pantai pada saat surut terendah sampai batas atas dari uprush pada saat air pasang tertinggi.

Pengertian Sedimen
Pipkin (1977) menyatakan bahwa sedimen adalah pecahan, mineral, atau material organik yang ditransforkan dari berbagai sumber dan diendapkan oleh media udara, angin, es, atau oleh airdan juga termasuk didalamnya material yang diendapakan dari material yang melayang dalam air atau dalam bentuk larutan kimia. Sedangkan Gross (1990) mendefinisikan sedimen laut sebagai akumulasi dari mineral-mineral dan pecahan-pecahan pecahan-pecahan batuan yang bercampur dengan hancuran cangkang dan tulang dari organisme laut serta beberapa partikel lain yang terbentuk lewat proses kimia yang terjadi di laut. pecahan-pecahan pecahan-pecahan batuan yang bercampur dengan hancuran cangkang dan tulang dari organisme laut serta beberapa partikel lain yang terbentuk lewat proses kimia yang terjadi di laut. (Umi dan Agus, 2002).
Sedimen dapat berada di berbagai lokasi dalam aliran, tergantung pada keseimbangan keseimbangan antara kecepatan ke alas pada partikel (gaya tarik dan gaya angkat) dan kecepatan pengendapan partikel. Ada 3 (tiga) macam pergerakan angkutan sedimen yaitu:
Bed Load Transport Transport
Partikel kasar yang bergerak di sepanjang dasar sungai secara keseluruhan disebut dengan bed load . Adanya bed load ditunjukkan ditunjukkan oleh gerakan partikel di dasar sungai yang ukurannya besar, gerakan itu dapat bergeser, menggelinding atau meloncat-loncat, akan tetapi tidak pernah lepas dari dasar sungai. Pada kondisi ini pengangkutan pengangkutan material terjadi pada aliran yang mempunyai kecepatan aliran yang relatif lambat, sehingga material yang terbawa arus sifatnya hanya menggelinding sepanjang saluran.

Wash load adalah angkutan partikel halus yang dapat berupa lempung (silk ) dan

2.4 Transport Sedimen Pantai
Transpor sedimen pantai adalah gerakan sedimen di daerah pantai yang disebabkan oleh gelombang dan arus yang dibangkitkannya. dibangkitkannya. Transpor sedimen dibedakan menjadi 2 macam yaitu : transpor menuju dan meninggalkan pantai (onshore-offshore transport) yang mempunyai arah rata-rata tegak lurus garis pantai, sedangkan transpor sepanjang pantai (longshore transport) mempunyai arah rata-rata sejajar pantai. Transpor sedimen sepanjang pantai terdiri dari dua komponen utama, yaitu transport sediment dalam bentuk mata gergaji di garis pantai dan transport sepanjang pantai di surf zone. Pada waktu gelombang menuju pantai dengan membentuk sudut terhadap garis pantai maka gelombang tersebut akan naik ke pantai (uprush) yang juga membentuk sudut. Massa air yang naik tersebut membentuk lintasan seperti mata gergaji, yang disertai dengan terangkutnya sediment dalam arah sepanjang pantai. Komponen yang kedua adalh transport sediment yang ditimbulkan oleh arus sepanjang pantai yang dibangkitkan oleh gelombang pecah. Transpor sidimen ini terjadi di surf zone.

Transpor sedimen sepanjang pantai, terbagi dalam 2 kondisi :
Transpor sedimen dasar, yaitu angkutan sedimen dimana bahan sedimen bergerak menggelinding, menggeser menggeser atau meloncat di dasar atau dekat sekali di atas dasar.
Transpor sedimen suspensi, yaitu angkutan sedimen yang terjadi ketika bahan sedimen yang telah terangkat terbawa bersama – bersama – sama sama dengan massa air yang bergerak dan selalu terjaga di atas dasar oleh turbulensi air.
Meskipun pada kenyataannya sangat sulit diketahui kapan tr ansport sedimen dasar berakhir dan mulai disebut sebagai transpor sedimen suspensi, namun pengertian akan adanya mekanisme tersebut perlu diperhatikan untuk memahami sifat – sifat sifat angkutan sedimen di pantai dalam hubungannya dengan permulaan gerak

Suspensi
Dalam teori segala ukuran butir sedimen dapat dibawa dalam suspensi, jika arus cukup kuat. Akan tetapi di alam, kenyataannya hanya material halus saja yang dapat diangkut suspensi. Sifat sedimen hasil pengendapan suspensi ini adalah mengandung prosentase masa dasar yang tinggi sehingga butiran tampak mengambang dalam masa dasar dan umumnya disertai memilahan butir yang buruk. Cirilain dari jenis ini adalah butir sedimen yang diangkut tidak pernah menyentuh dasar aliran.

Arus pekat (density) disebabkan karena perbedaan kepekatan (density) media. Ini bisa disebabkan karena perlapisan panas, turbiditi dan perbedaan kadar garam. Karena gravitasi, media yang lebih pekat akan bergerak mengalir di bawah media yang lebih encer. Dalam geologi, aliran arus pekat di dalam cairan dikenal dengan nama turbiditi.
