BAB 1 PENDAHULUAN
1.1. Latar Belakang
Iklim kerja merupakan salah satu unsur dari pekerjaan yang mempunyai peran penting dan tidak boleh kita acuhkan. Pekerjaan dengan suhu tinggi memerlukan penerapan teknologi baik dalam proses produksi maupun proses distribusinya. Dengan lingkungan kerja yang nyaman maka semangat kerja akan meningkat, begitu juga j uga produktivitas. Negara Indonesia merupakan negara tropis, dengan ciri utamanya adalah suhu dan kelembaban yang tinggi, kondisi awal seperti ini seharusnya sudah menjadi perhatian karena iklim kerja yang panas dapat mempengaruhi kondisi pekerja. Panas merupakan sumber penting dalam proses produksi, maka tidak menutup kemungkinan pekerja dapat terpapar langsung. Jika pekerja terpapar dalam jangka waktu yang lama, maka pekerja yang terpapar panas dapat mengalami penyakit akibat kerja yaitu menurunnya daya tahan tubuh dan berpengaruh terhadap timbulnya gangguan kesehatan, sehingga berpengaruh terhadap produktivtas dan efisiensi kerja. Iklim kerja yang panas merupakan beban bagi tubuh, ditambah lagi apabila pekerja harus mengerjakan pekerjaan-pekerjaan fisik yang berat, dapat memperburuk kondisi kesehatan dan stamina pekerja. Keluhan banyak muncul pada para pekerja maupun mahasiswa di kampus PPNS, dikarenakan iklim kerja di daerah bengkel kurang mendapat perhatian dan penanggulangan secara khusus. Padahal seperti yang diketahui, bahwa dengan adanya banyak bengkel, namun tidak diimbangi dengan ketersediaan siklus sirkulasi udara yang baik, dapat mengakibatkan iklim kerja yang ekstrim. Oleh karena itu, saya terdorong untuk mlakukan praktikum lingkungan kerja untuk mengukur NAB iklim kerja di bengkel PPNS. Dan cara untuk mengetahui berapa besar NAB untuk iklim kerja digunakanlah ISBB (Indeks Suhu Bola Basah) yang diadopsi dari WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Index) yang dikeluarkan oleh ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists). Tujuan pada praktikum kali ini adalah : 1.
Mahasiswa mampu mengevaluasi kondisi iklim kerja di Bengkel Kayu Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya.

Mahasiswa mampu membuat rekomendasi untuk memperbaiki kondisi iklim kerja di Bengkel Kayu Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya.
1.4. Manfaat
Mahasiswa dapat mengukur iklim kerja pada suatu ruangan tertentu dengan menggunakan WBGT
(Wet Bulb Globe Temperature)
dan
mengidentifikasi kelayakan dan kesesuaian terhadap NAB iklim kerja ruangan tersebut terhadap temperatur yang ada.

BAB 2 TINJAUAN PUSTAKA
2.1. Iklim Kerja
Iklim kerja adalah faktor-faktor termis dalam lingkungan kerja kerja yang dapat mempengaruhi mempengaruhi kesehatan kesehatan manusia. Manusia mempertahankan mempertahankan suhu tubuhnya antara 36 -37°C dengan berbagai cara pertukaran panas baik melalui konduksi, konveksi, dan radiasi. Walaupun banyak faktor yang dapat menaikan sushu tubuh, tapi mekanisme dalam tubuh, membuat suhu tetap stabil . Faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi keseimbangan suhu tubuh adalah suhu panas atau dingin yang berlebihan. Suhu lingkungan dipengaruhi oleh adanya angin, kelembaban, tekanan udara ruangan dan suhu udara luar ruangan. Apabila tubuh tidak dapat beberadaptasi dengan suhu ekstrim, maka akan timbul gangguan gangguan kesehatan . Beberapa istilah yang harus dipahami: 1.
Temperatur suhu kering, t (ºC) Temperatur yang dibaca oleh sensor suhu kering dan terbuka, namun hasil pembacaan tidak terlalu tepat karena adanya pengaruh radiasi panas, kecuali sensornya mendapat ventilasi baik.

Temperatur suhu basah, T (ºC) Temperatur yang dibaca dibaca oleh sensor sensor yang telah dibalut dengan kain / kapas basah untuk menghilangakan pegaruh radiasi, yang harus diperhatikan adalah aliran udara yang mel;ewati sensor minimal 5 m/s.

produktivitas kerja. Suhu udara yang dianggap nikmat bagi orang indonesia sekitar 24˚C sampai 36˚C dan selisih didalam dan diluar tidak boleh lebih dari 5˚C. Batas kecepatan angin yaitu 0,25 sampai 0,5 m/dt. Di daerah tropis masalah pemaparan panas menjadi faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan. Disamping cuaca kerja, sebetulnya tubuh sendiri ketika beraktivitas juga mengeluarkan panas. Keseimbangan antara tubuh dan lingkungan diperlukan supaya metabolisme tubuh dapat berjalan lancar. Pertama-tama panas dipindahkan dari organ yang memproduksi panas ke kulit, melalui sirkulasi darah. Kemudian panas mengalami pertukaran dari tubuh ke lingkungan. Proses pertukaran panas antara tubuh dan lingkungan terjadi melalui mekanisme konveksi, radiasi, vaporasi, dan konduksi. Bila seseorang sedang bekerja, tubuh pekreja tersebut akan mengalami interaksi dengan lingkungan yang terdiri dari suhu udara, kelembaban k elembaban dan gerakan atau aliran udara. Proses metabolisme tubuh yang berintereaksi dengan panas dilingkungan akan menyebabkan pekerja pekerja mengalami tekanan panas. Tekanan panas ini dapat disebabkan karena adanya sumber panas maupun adanya ventilasi yang kurang baik. Contoh tekanan panas yang disebabkan oleh adanya sumber panas terjadi pada pabrik pengecoran logam, pabrik baja, pabrik gelas, pabrik panel, dan sejenisnya. Pada pabrik-pabrik tersebut biasanya suhu udara ruang tanur pembakaran berkisar 1.500-30.000°C, sedangkan tekanan panas yang dikarenakan oleh ventilasi yang kurang baik biasanya terjadi pada pabrik tekstil, garmen, pemintalan maupun sejenisnya. Adapun uraian mengenai masing-masing mekanisme adalah sebagai berikut : 1.

2.4. Kepmenaker No.51 Tahun 1999 Tentang NAB Faktor Fisika di Tempat Kerja
Pemerintah Indonesia dalam hal ini adalah Departemen Tenaga Kerja mengeluarkan KepMen/Kep-51.Men/1999 tentang Nilai Ambang Batas Faktor Fisika di Tempat Kerja yang di dalamnya mengatur tentang Nilai Ambang Batas untuk iklim kerja panas.
Beberapa definisi yang terdapat dalam peraturan tersebut adalah sebagai berikut : 1.
Iklim kerja : hasil perpaduan antara suhu, kelembaban, kecepatan gerakan udara, dan panas radiasi dengan tingkat t ingkat pengeluaran panas dari tubih tenaga kerja sebagai akibat pekerjaannya.
2.
Nilai Ambang Batas (NAB) : standar faktor tempat kerja yang dapat diterima tenaga kerja tanpa menakbatkan penyakit atau gangguan kesehatan, dalam pekerjaan sehari-hari untuk waktu tidak melebihi 8 jam sehari atau 40 jam seminggu.

Indeks Suhu Bola Basah (ISBB) : parameter untuk menilai tingkat t ingkat iklim kerja yang merupakan hasil perhitungan antara suhu udara kering, suhu basah alami, dan suhu bola.

Suhu udara kering : suhu yang ditunjukkan oleh termometer suhu kering.

Suhu basah alami : suhu yang ditunjukkan oleh termometer bola basah alami.

Aklimatisasi dan kebugaran Aklimatisasi adalah serangkaian pengaturan fisiologis dan psikologis yang dilakukan seorang individu pada minggu pertama dirinya terpapar lingkungan yang panas, untuk beradaptasi terhadap tekanan panas. NAB ini berlaku terhadap pekerja yang sehat secara fisik. Perhatian ekstra harus diberikan apabila tenaga yang terpapar panas belum beraklimatisasi dan tidak dalam kondisi fisik yang sehat.

2.5. Nilai Ambang Batas iklim kerja (ACGIH Tahun 2005)
Pada ACGIH tahun 2005 terdapat beberapa hal yang telah dikaji secara berkelanjutan untuk mendapatkan kesempurnaan standar yang mereka keluarkan. Sebagaimana tertera pada Tabel 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6 dibawah ini.

Nilai pada tabel di atas berlaku untuk waktu kerja 8 jam sehari, 5 hari seminggu dengan waktu istirahat pada umumnya.

Nilai kriteria untuk pekerjaan terus menerus dan 25% istirahat untuk kerja sangat berat tidak diberikan, mengingat efek biologis (tanpa melihat WBGT) pekerjaan tersebut pada tenaga kerja yang memiliki kondisi kesehatan kurang baik.

Jika lingkungan kerja dan istirahat berbeda, perhitungan rata-rata waktu per jam harus dilakukan. Dan jika pekerjaan bervariasi dalam setiap jamnya, perhitungan perhitungan TWA juga harus harus dilakukan.

Nilai pada tabel di atas berlaku untuk waktu kerja 8 jam sehari, 5 hari seminggu dengan waktu istirahat pada umumnya. Bila waktu kerja bertambah, konsultasikan dengan ahli hygiene industri.

- Heat Stroke : jarang terjadi pada industri tetapi sangat berbahaya. Biasanya yang terkena adalah lelaki yang pekerjaannya berta dan belum teraklimatisasi. Gejalanya adalah suhu badan naik, kulit kering dan panas. Cara mengatasinya adalah dengan menurunkan suhu tubuh dengan cara mengompres.
Diakibatkan suhu dingin : - Chilblains : disebabkan karena bekerja di tempat dingin dalm waktu yang cukup lama. Gejalanya adalah otot membengkak, kulit memerah dan panas disertai gatal. - Trench Foot : kerusakan anggota badan terutama kaki oleh kelembaban atau dingin. Gejalanya adalah kaki kesemutan, kaku dan terasa berat. - Frostbite : dikarenakan bekerja di tempat yang bertenperatur di bawah titik beku. Gejalanya adalah otot membengkak dan kaku dan bisa menyebabkan cacat permanen.

3.1. Sistematika Praktikum Latar Belakang 1. Panas merupakan sumber penting dalam proses produksi maka tidak menutup kemungkinan pekerja dapat terpapar langsung. 2. Apabila pekerja terpapar dalam jangka waktu yang lama maka pekerja yang terpapar panas dapat mengalami penyakit akibat kerja yaitu menurunnya daya tahan tubuh dan berpengaruh terhadap timbulnya gangguan kesehatan sehingga berpengaruh terhadap produktivitas dan efisiensi kerja. 3. Keluhan banyak muncul pada para pekerja di kampus Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya dikarenakan iklim kerja di daerah bengkel kurang mendapat perhatian dan penanggulangan secara khusus. 4. Cara untuk mengetahui berapa besar NAB untuk iklim kerja digunakanlah ISBB (Indeks Suhu Bola Basah) yang diadopsi dari WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Index) yang dikeluarkan oleh ACGIH.
