Entender y conocer el procedimiento de producción de un metal sometido a deformación plástica en frio.
Reconocer que después del Enfriamiento en frío muchas propiedades se han mejorado como la dureza, pero el mismo tiempo de han aumentado otros defectos.
Establecer una relación entre las durezas obtenidas y las deformaciones por deformación en frio, justificando con un análisis metalográfico los cambios en su estructura interna.
Identificar mediante una observación microscópica, la microestructura de los metales estudiados, notando como se reordena esta estructura cuando la deformación se hace más intensa.

El nonio o vernier es una segunda escala auxiliar que tienen algunos instrumentos de medición, que permite apreciar una medición con mayor precisión al complementar las divisiones de la regla o escala principal del instrumento de medida.
Sierra La sierra es una herramienta que sirve para cortar madera u otros materiales. Consiste en una hoja con el filo dentado y se maneja a mano o por otras fuentes de energía, como vapor, agua o electricidad. Según el material a cortar se utilizan diferentes tipos de hojas de sierra. De acuerdo con la mitología griega, fue inventada por Perdix, el nieto de Dédalo.

Tornillo de banco El tornillo de banco es una herramienta que sirve para sujetar firmemente piezas o componentes a los que se les quiere aplicar alguna operación mecánica. Es un conjunto metálico muy sólido y resistente que tiene dos mordazas; una de ellas es fija y la otra es móvil, es decir, se abre y se cierra cuando se gira con una palanca un tornillo de rosca cuadrada. Es una herramienta que se atornilla a una mesa de trabajo y es muy común en los talleres de mecánica. Cuando las piezas a sujetar son delicadas o frágiles se deben proteger las mordazas con fundas de material más blando llamadas galteras y que pueden ser de plomo, corcho, cuero, nailon, etc. La presión de apriete tiene que estar de acuerdo con las características de fragilidad que tenga la pieza que se sujeta.

Limas
La lima como fuente de herramienta manual de corte/desgaste consistente en una barra de acero al carbono templado con ranuras llamadas dientes, y con una empuñadura llamada mango, que se usa para desbastar y afinar todo tipo de piezas metálicas, de plástico o de madera. Es una herramienta básica en los trabajos de ajuste.
Lijas de diversas medidas Se utilizó agua normal de caño con un chorro sin mucha intensidad, cuyo propósito era impedir el calentamiento de la probeta ya que si no se aplicaba este, se podría alterar la estructura de la superficie, modificando así los resultados. Las lijas usadas en la experiencia experiencia fueron de 180, 360, 360, 600, 800, 1000 y 1200. El tamaño de las lijas estaba hecha por la división de una pulgada entre sus respectivos números ósea mientras mayor era el número de la lija más fina era esta.

Pulidor mecánico: El pulidor se encuentra conformado de una plataforma giratoria en forma circular sobre el cual está colocado un determinado paño de tela, la probeta se colocaba por encima de esta superficie de manera que lo roce con la intención que esta sea pulida, se usó como polvo abrasivo la alúmina que es en realidad el que le da el pulido final. También se le agrega un poco de agua, con el objeto de mantener frio el pulidor y evitar de esta manera que se caliente la probeta, lo cual alteraría su estructura interna.

Microscopio Metalográfico: El microscopio utilizado era de la marca Carl Zeiss Jena, este nos permitió observar las diversas probetas. Su operatividad era bastante sencilla, ya que solo se giraba un eje para acercarse o alejarse. Este microscopio también nos permite observar la microestructura del material que estamos observando.
Reactivos de ataque, alcohol, algodón y secadora En la experiencia usamos el HNO3 para todas las probetas atacadas aunque su uso es principalmente para la gran mayoría de plomo y aleaciones. El tiempo de aplicación fue de 3 a 5 segundos. Después se limpiaba con algodón con alcohol para luego secar completamente el material con secadora.

Todas fueron sometidas a una deformación de distintos porcentajes y experimentaron el mismo procedimiento para medir su dureza y realizar el ensayo metalográfico. El material empleado para la fabricación de las probetas es cobre.
