Mr. Eugene D. Salonga 2014-2015 Science Research II is a continuation of the topics discussed in Research I (Basic Research). While basic research orients its students with the different types of research as well as the skills associated with research, Research II will then turn its attention to preparing the students in making the grand determining product of a science high school: the Science Investigatory Project or commonly known as the SIP. This SIP is also the main output of this curriculum. By the end of the school year, the students are expected to be hardwired as a science researcher. At the end of the Science Research II program, the learners should have developed the following competencies: 1. Differentiate the SIP from other types of research 2. Awareness of the importance of the SIP in a Science High School 3. Familiarize themselves with standard laboratory safety protocols 4. Distinguish the different plant collection and ex traction procedures 5. Handle animals properly following the guidelines of the school’s IACUC 6. Practice different egg windowing, aseptic, and mic robial techniques 7. Prepare the different forms and write-uals of the SIP 8. Search for a relevant, and economically significant SIP 9. Prepare for a topic proposal defense d efense 10. Formulate the research problem 11. Search for related and background literature of the chosen SIP 12. Gather data pertinent to the SIP 13. Process, and interpret data gathered from the research process 14. Summarize answers for the tested research hypothesis 15. Draw conclusions from the summarized answers in the research process 16. Recommend actions to improve the research paper, product, or proposals for further studies
