This new discipline was meant to transform transform traditional classrooms from teacher-centered instruction into inquiry-based, problem solving, discovery zones where children engage with content to find solutions to problems” problems ” (Fioriello 2010). Ciri Pendidikan STEM Kurikulum • Be trans-disciplinary in its overall approach
UM 12-13
7
Ciri Pendidikan STEM Support System • Penglibatan Penglibatan aktif komuniti dari aspek menunjukkan aplikasi STEM, lawatan dan mendapatkan pengalaman bekerja.
Pelajar • Problem-solvers • Innovators • Inventors • Self-reliant • Logical thinkers Kolokium Pendidikan S n Mat. UM 12-13

Entrepreneurial Entrepr eneurial Science Thinking (E ( EnSci ciT T)
EnSciT Learning Strategies Step 1 Take initiatives to observe purposefully, deliberately and continuously. continuously.
Step 2 Keep thinking to find uniqueness or ‘different’ of the observed phenomena in the form of new idea/system/product/ model/ technology/design.
Step 3 Select a few ideas from the above that might be successful for innovation and evaluate them.
Step 4
Step 5 To create value added to the ideas/products in terms of value creation to the society/community.
Purposeful enhancement and improvement of ideas (design and redesign).

Context for “Energy” The following is the context for developing the FIVE EnSciT steps.
Design an electronic device that uses alternative source of energy to the current source.
Background: There are many electronic devices that are useful to humankind. These devices use various sources of energy. For example, electronic devices, transportation devices, medical devices, households appliances, and many others. As a highly potential Malaysian young scientist, you and your group members are asked to use imagination to design an electronic device that uses alternative energy source. 12
Impact of EnSciT Modul Improved interest in learning and understanding science
Encourage creative and innovative science-based thinking skills
Increased awareness awareness of real life application of science content knowledge
Promote active learning science environment Kolokium Pendidikan S n Mat. UM 12-13

– Pelajar 2 : Panjangkan lagi tempoh program, eksperimen diperbanyakkan.
– Guru 1:Melibatkan banyak lagi penyertaan pelajar.

Kurikulum • KSSR (Transformasi Kurikulum) Kurikulum) • Elemen STEM merentas Kurikulum (bersepadu)
Guru •Tingkatkan literasi STEM STEM (keupayaan (keupayaan guru) •Integrasikan elemen-elemen STEM dalam P&P sains • Pendekatan pembelajaran dan penilaian selaras dengan konsep Pendidikan Pendidikan STEM

Findings Levels of achievement achievement
• High achievers –boys are • Medium achievers –boys more interested than girls
• Low achievers • Students not majoring in science • Mature students (Age 18 years old)
Implications relevant, • Activities are relevant, readiness in terms of cognitive ability and attitude
• Need to re look at the activities • Language is a problem/takes a longer time/ need to refine task / low level of scientific knowledge • Unable to do the tasks • Feel bored/ do not see the importance of observation.

Findings Implications
School environment
• Internet facilities • Vision of the school • Learning environment
• Enable students to obtain more input in terms of scientific knowledge and other relevant relevant information; thus more ideas towards leading towards innovation Encourages visits, meeting • Encourages scientists
