Z-Look3 Evo SLM :: Implants
New surface – all at a glance 2<
Z-Look3 Evo SLM is based upon the established, sandblasted surface Z-Look3. The modification of the surface is achieved by a patented procedure (patent pending). The material removal is realised by laser technology and results in an enlargement of the surface by increased macro- and micro-roughness. The laser treatment on the thread flank follows the thread lead (red marked area). This patented procedure (patent pending) makes sure that the excellent breaking strength of the Z-Look3 Evo implants stays unaltered high.
Z-Look3 Evo rapide SLM, the next generation of zirconia implants* Revolutionary surface technology :: Unique laser modified surface (patent pending) :: Increased surface roughness: SRa of Z-Look3 Evo SLM rises by + 143 % from 1,49 µm to 3,62 µm in comparison to the sandblasted standard Z-Look3 Evo surface :: Based on clinical experience since 2004 with zirconia implants (first placed in 2001)
* An extensive preclinical study is completed and accepted for publication (JOMI / Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants)

The essentials at a glance Z-Look3 Evo SLM
Z-Look3 Evo SLM :: Z-Look3 Evo SLM implants are based on the experience of more than 20.000 Z-Look3 and Z-Look3 Evo implants made of ZrO 2 TZP-A HIP, sold since August 2004. The new abutment has been designed uniformly for all standard implants, an integrated retention groove ensures secure retention of the insertion tool and accessory parts. The insertion hexagon known from the Z-Look3 implant is not required. Occlusal grinding of the abutment postoperatively is not necessary. The variable implant insertion depth – due to countersinking the implant shoulder to a differing depth – does not apply. New insertion tools with improved force transmission onto the abutment are available. Excellent red-white aesthetics can be achieved by the possibility of simple individual grinding* of the abutment (preparation border and/or angulation). Details of the proven thread design have been optimised, the known implantation procedure has been largely retained and the existing surgical tray can still be used. Additional implant sizes and shoulder diameters simplify selecting the right implant for difficult indications. Impression caps, laboratory analogues and gingiva formers simplify prosthetic handling.

* Z-System has had the manual grinding ability investigated for you by the renowned Fraunhofer Institute of Material Mechanics . The results show no impairment in use of the ground Z-Look3 implants, manually ground implants have no increased risk of fracture. Z-Systems grinding procedure: use exclusively red ring (47 µm) diamond instruments, maximum water cooling, working without pressure. Z-Systems will be pleased to make the results available to you on request.

Z-Look3 Evo SLM
Many people are satisfied with what is available. We are not. Many follow the maxim: no experiments. We have successfully tested our implants. That is why Z-Systems is here today: We develop and produce metal-free solutions in dental implantology made from high performance special ceramics. Certified and approved: white aesthetics thanks to zirconia (zirconium dioxide).
Material :: All Z-Look3 ceramic components are produced from zirconia (zirconium dioxide). However, there is more than one grade of zirconia to choose from. In the production of the components, the selection of the raw materials as well as control during the cleaning and production processes are extremely important. Only leading manufacturers of dental ceramic products are choosen as manufacturer of Z-Look3 Evo SLM implants and components produced from zirconia. They must meet Z-Systems’ quality criteria. Depending on the requirements for the system component, whether it is an implant, a cutting tool or other surgical tool, the composition and the production processes for the zirconia will vary.
Information about the different types of zirconia used can be found with the descriptions of the individual components. Certification :: Medical devices from Z-Systems bear the CE marking and are manufactured according to the specifications of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, as well as MDD 93/42/EEC. Z-Systems is registered with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
An overview of the Z-Look3 implant system features: :: Implants and surgical instruments are produced from zirconia. :: The Z-Look3 implant system enables completely metal-free treatment. :: Four different one-piece implant designs for a broad range of indications. :: Abutments easily modifiable, no specific prosthetic parts required. :: The design and material allow the prosthetic procedure and treatment to be carried out in a similar manner as for natural teeth. The abutments can be ground easily in the mouth. :: The implant design is ideal for treatment with CAD-CAM prosthodontics. :: The design allows compensation of implant divergences of up to 20º (by simple intraoral grinding).

Material :: All zirconia implants are produced from ZrO2 TZP-A HIP bioceramics according to ISO 13356. This material has been in use for a long time in the production of hip joint prostheses. Among other things, the material reaches its bending strength, which is much higher than with commonly used titanium, due to the «Hot Isostatic Post Compaction» process. The material is reprocessed after the sintering process by being further compacted in industrial furnance for three days at 2000 bar, which significantly improves the physical characteristics of the base material. Indications :: Z-Look3 Evo SLM implants are designed for surgical implantation into the upper and lower jaw for the attachment of prosthodontic appliances to replace missing teeth. Osseointegration and healing time :: The unique patented (patent pending) laser modified Z-Look3 Evo SLM surface has an increased surface roughness. Due to the one-piece design, the implants must be protected from load during healing. Longterm temporaries, protective splints or hollowed out interim prostheses can be used for this purpose. A healing time of three months for the lower jaw and six months for the upper jaw is recommended. Note :: Please note our detailed instructions for surgical and prosthetic procedures.
Insertion. The prerequisites :: Sufficient bone quantity must be available. The thread must be covered by at least 1 mm of healthy bone. Simultaneous sinus floor elevation with implantation is only indicated if there is at least 7 mm of remaining bone available in the vertical dimension. The Z-Look3 Evo SLM implants are selftapping. For bones in category D1/D2 or hard cortical bone, pre-cutting with appropriate tap is recommended. When inserting the implant, we recommend a torque of 35 Ncm. Implant characteristics – an overview :: The abutment can be ground in the same way as natural teeth. Special care should be taken with the treatment protocol i.e. red diamond, max. red hand piece rotational speed, max. water cooling and low pressure.* :: One-piece design, therefore no microgap, reduces the possibility of bone loss. :: The apical part of the implant is conical to improve introduction into the cavity. :: The star-shaped apical cut-out serves to receive bone chips. :: The rounded thread prevents tension and notching effects. :: The implant can be inserted manually or with the angle piece. :: Implants can be inserted further or unscrewed even after the abutment is modified. :: The wide implant shoulder enables compensation of implant divergence of up to 20º.
Drills :: The drills are three-fluted (low in vibrations) and have a maximum overlength of 1.3 mm. The markings on the drills correspond to the insertion depths of 6, 8, 10, 11.5, 13 and 15 mm. The drills are all equal in length and can be extended with the angle piece extension.
Tap :: The implants are self-tapping for bone classes D3 – D4. For bone class D1 – D2 or hard cortical bone, the tap must be used. When inserting the implant, we recommend a torque of 35 Ncm for the implants in order to avoid placing too much pressure on the bone. The taps can be used with the ratchet or the angle piece. Corresponding adapters are available in a variety of lengths.
