CUPULA ESFERICA :
Es una curva tridimensional engendrada por el giro de un arco de circulo alrededor de un eje principal que pasa por el centro del circulo.El arco circular se llama MERIDIANO,al girar un punto del arco circular respecto al eje de la cupula describe un eje PARALELO Las cupulas soportan las cargas que se les aplican casi totalmente por tensiones de membrana en el plano tangente a la superficie de la mayor parte de la lamina.
TEORIA MEMBRANAL : Según esta teoria, si se conoce la carga sobre la lamina por encima de cualquier Paralelo determinado puede calcularse el esfuerzo en los Meridianos por consideraciones de equilibrio vertical en la lamina. Si se considera el caso de Cupula de espesor y carga uniformes, se encuentra que el esfuerzo según los Meridianos (siempre Compresion) varia desde un minimo de -Wu x R/2 (en el vertice) a -Wu x R
