Introduction
1
Introduction This document is used when configuring RET units supporting Ericsson RET solution communication interface in Ericsson WCDMA system. The document contains detailed configuration data for the Ericsson RET solution and general information for RET solutions from suppliers other than Ericsson. Five RET types are currently defined: •
RET type 0: Ericsson RET solution that uses a Remote Electrical Tilt Unit (RETU) made by Kathrein according to Ericsson specifications
•
RET type 1, 2, and 3: RET solutions provided directly to the operator by suppliers other than Ericsson
•
RET type 4: RET solution provided by Ericsson.
Capabilities of an antenna and RET combination are defined in WCDMA RBSs as a RET profile. The Managed Object (MO) RetProfile includes the parameters antennaType and retType. RET profiles for RET type 0, RET type 1, RET type 2, and RET type 4 are predefined. Additional RET profiles can be defined by the operator. Different antenna products can be categorized as a common antenna type (having the same value on parameter antennaType), one example being when a double antenna consists of antenna elements identical to those for single antennas.
1.1
Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide information about the requirements for RET type 0, RET type 1, RET type 2, RET type 3, and RET type 4. The data is used for installation engineering purposes and no functions are described in this document.
1.2
Target Group The target group for this document is personnel involved in RETU configuration activity. Personnel working on Ericsson products or systems must have the training and competence required to perform the work correctly.

RET Type 0 This section provides a cross reference between antenna product number and antenna type for RET type 0. RET type 0 refers to RET units and antennas with built-in RET function made by Kathrein for the Ericsson propriety RET communication interface. The antennas listed in Table 1 are those applicable for the Ericsson RET solution (RET type 0). Note:
