OPENING
Public transport is the best way to travel. This issue has become a big controversy among people from all walks of life. As a matter of fact, Malaysians tend to drive their own vehicles instead of taking the public transport. In their mindsets, driving their own vehicles is more convenient and less time-consuming. However, I do not buy this idea. In my two cents, I see eye to eye with this statement. Public transport is indeed the best way to go from one destination to the next. Below are the reasons why I stand my grounds firmly.
ENDING
All words in one, I think public transport is indeed the best way to travel. It is cost-efficient, time-saving and definitely more environment-friendly. So, hesitate no more. The next time we need to go out, let us all utilize the public transport provided by our government.

Saving our hard-earned money and traveling costs is inarguably the first reason why I assent with the above statement. In Malaysia, transport fares are relatively cheaper compared to using our own vehicles. Let me do the mathematics for you. When we use the public transport, we do not have the need to purchase our own cars. In other words, we will not obtain loans from the bank and thus, we do not need to pay the monthly installment needed for our car. Furthermore, we definitely do not need to spend our money on road tax as well as our car services. In the long run, money can be saved from the skyrocketing fuel costs and also toll fares. As the maxim goes, a penny saved is a penny earned. In fact, we can also put our money into better use in the near future. For example, we can save up for educational purposes or even for investment. This is indirectly a great way to save for rainy days. 3

REASON
-most of the public transports are environment-friendly -do not emit much exhaust fumes
EXAMPLE
-will never ever release any harmful or hazardous gases into the air -local taxis use NGV gas which is not as harmful as petrol or diesel

REPEAT
-To sum it up, minimizing air pollution by leaps and bounds is another pro of using public transport.

Additionally, via taking public transport, air pollution can be further reduced and minimized. This is because most of the public transports are environment-friendly and do not emit much exhaust fumes. As we are well-aware of, trains, monorails and light rail transits operate by using electricity. In short, they will never ever release any harmful or hazardous gases into the air. Besides, local taxis use NGV gas which is not as harmful as petrol or diesel. When these exhaust fumes are greatly reduced from polluting our precious air, we can indirectly protect our Mother Earth. Not only that, but we can also maintain the quality of our air and keep our health in tip-top condition. This is an act of killing two hawks with one arrow. To sum it up, minimizing air pollution by leaps and bounds is another pro of using public transport. 4

Plus, we can definitely save our precious time by taking public transport on a daily basis. Taking public transport can always help us to shorten the traveling time. How so? The answer is quite simple. As we know, taking trains or monorails can prevent us from getting stuck in a gridlocks or traffic jams because we will not be commuting on the roads. Malaysians are already used to the scenario of bad traffic especially during peak hours. In extreme cases, the traffic jams in our nation can be as long as the Great Wall of China. However, majority of our countrymen are getting used to this bizarre situation because traffic jams are too common. Worse still, we will always spend lots of time searching for parking spaces particularly in shopping malls during the weekends or holidays. Accordingly, valuable time will be wasted just like that. This is totally preventable should we instill the habit of travelling via public transport.

Nowadays, the rates of accidents in Malaysia are also on the rise and this issue is becoming more rampant too. Hence, taking public transport can help to decrease the rate of road accidents. Via this way, we can indirectly cut down the number of vehicles on the road in a tremendous amount. To quote an example, bus service companies will hire experienced and seasoned drivers instead of young drivers who are impulsive and act on their whims. Also, since they are under strict supervision from these companies, these experienced drivers will have to follow and adhere to certain safety rules and regulations such as servicing their buses regularly. If they drive recklessly, the public can even lodge complaints immediately to the relevant authorities. As an impact, the roads will be safe and sound. Therefore, it goes without saying that taking public transport can greatly cut down the amount of road accidents in our country. Remember. Prevention is always better than cure. 5
