1. INTRODUCCIÓN
En las volumetrías de precipitación se mide el volumen de solución tipo, necesario para precipitar completamente un catión o anión del compuesto que se analiza; el método se utiliza para determinar iones cloruro de metales alcalinos, magnesio y amonio. La valoración se hace con solución patrón de AgNO 3. El indicador es el ion cromato CrO4 =, que comunica a la solución en el punto inicial una coloración amarilla y forma en el punto final un precipitado rojo ladrillo de cromato de plata, Ag 2CrO4. La solución debe tener un pH neutro o cercano a la neutralidad. Un pH de 8.3 es adecuado para la determinación; determinación; en la solución patrón patrón de AgNO3 se puede preparar por el método directo dado que el nitrato de plata es un reactivo tipo primario; con el objeto de compensar los errores en la precipitación del punto final se prefiere el método indirecto y la solución se valora con NaCl químicamente puro. Cuando la solución tipo se prepara por el método indirecto no es necesario el ensayo en blanco, porque el exceso empleado en la valoración de la sustancia problema se compensa con el empleado en la valoración del AgNO 3. El ion cloruro (Cl -), es uno de los aniones inorgánicos principales en el agua natural y residual; Los contenidos de cloruros de las aguas son variables y se deben principalmente a la naturaleza de los terrenos atravesados. Habitualmente, el contenido de ion de cloruro de las aguas naturales es inferior a 50 mg/L; En el agua potable, el sabor salado producido por el Cl - es variable y depende de la composición química del agua.

Para qué se utiliza la solución de cromato de potasio? Sirve como indicador para el punto de equivalencia en la titulación que indica dicho punto con el cambio a un color rojo pardo.
¿Cómo se clasifica la reacción qué efectúa en la l a determinación anterior? Se denominan reacciones secundarias que se dan en presencia de luz (foto sensitiva). La única forma de controlar esto es realizar las titulaciones del agente titulante y el análisis de la muestra en baja intensidad de luz, el mismo día.

Método de Volhard. Este método de titulación se usa para la determinación determinación de Plata y compuestos de plata, aniones que se precipitan con plata como Cl-,Br -, I -, SCNy AsO4 -4. Para el caso de determinación de un anión, se acidula con HNO3, se agrega un exceso de solución tipo de AgNO3 para precipitar el anión y se valora por retroceso el exceso de Ag+, con solución patrón de tio-cianato de potasio; el indicador es el Fe+3 , que proporciona color rojo a la solución. Las reacciones que ocurren en la determinación de iones cloruro son:
Determinación de cloruros por gravimetría En el método gravimétrico, el contenido de iones cloruros se determina por medio de la precipitación cuantitativa con nitrato de plata desde una solución acidificada con ácido nítrico concentrado. Luego el precipitado, lavado con agua acidulada, secado en estufa a 130 º - 150 ºC y finalmente pesado.

MÉTODO DE MOHR:
Se realizó un ensayo en blanco para hacer la corrección que se debe aplicar a los resultados de la valoración y para determinar la cantidad de cloruros presentes en el agua esto con el fin de precisar que la cantidad de cloruros a obtener solo sean del cloruro de sodio y no de la disolución con el agua, Además, el método de Mohr debe realizarse en una solución de pH 7 a 10. La función del indicador de cromato de potasio (K2CrO4 ) es de aunarse al primer exceso de ion plata formando Ag2CrO4 y logrando un precipitado de color rojo anaranjado ,es decir que al momento de que se acaban los iones cloruro (Clˉ) por la formación de AgCl en solución, el ion plata (Ag+) "agarra" por mencionarlo de alguna manera a los iones cromato (CrO4ˉ), aquello se debe a que el
cloruro de plata es menos soluble que el cromato de plata.
Cl- + Ag+ → AgCl
Precipitado Blanco: CrO4-- + 2Ag+ → Ag2CrO4
Kps = 1,8 * 10-10 Kps = 1,1 * 10ˉ¹²
Los errores de estos métodos se deben a la sobresaturación; las determinaciones precipito métricas, son utilizadas para la determinación de iones en solución. El objetivo de la presente práctica fue determinar la concentración de cloruros por métodos precipito métricos directos e indirectos de una muestra de Cloruro de Sodio (NaCl).
