3 Test Cases 3.1
Voice MOS Test 3.1.1 Preparations
Both UE locked into WCDMA mode (by dialing *#2263# and choose WCDMA Band preference -> WCDMA ALL)
Both UE mobile data switch is OFF
Obtain the Huawei supplied test plan XML file.
Obtain complete MOS test kit from Huawei engineer. The kit consists an ESI Maya 44 USB+ MOSCard and two specially made test cables
3.1.2 Principle
-
-
The laptop running GENEX Probe test plan is the central controller for the test The MOS card is an external sound card connected to laptop via USB cable. It either converts digital sound file to analog signal, or wise versa During the test calls, the laptop/Probe plays a sound file through MOS card + cable to the MO (call originating) UE, which is played via its microphone input to the MT (call terminating) UE The MT UE receives this sound played by the MO UE, and from its earphone output it sends this sound back to laptop/Probe via MOS card + cable MOS card converts this analog signal back into a digital sound file, and Probe compares the recorded file to the original file Using a special algorithm, it determines the similarity/quality of the recorded file to the original file, and gives a score between 0 to 5 The higher the score, the closer resemblance the recorded file is to the original file, which

also indicates a better the RF/wireless environment
3.1.3 Test Setup 1.
Install the driver for Maya 44 USB+ MOSCard a) Visit http://www.esi-audio.com/products/maya44usb+/ b) Find and download the driver for test laptop’s OS:
c) Install the driver, after installation, the ESI control panel will appear in taskbar notification area.
2.
Double click to open and it should look similar to below:
Complete equipment setup
a) Connect the two special test cables to the MOSCard: Cable1: RED goes to one of OUT ports; default port is 1, others can also be used Cable2: BLACK goes to one of IN ports; default port is 1, others can also be used Note: for each cable, only use one of the two RCA plugs; never plug both RCA plugs from the same cable into MOS card

Note: by default INPUT gain = 0dB for all 4 channels MONITOR gain = 0dB & muted for all 4 channels OUTPUT gain = 0dB for all 4 channels To properly conduct test and obtain reasonable MOS score, the OUTPUT gain needs to be adjusted, change the gain of OUTPUT channel in-use to a predefined value; please consult Huawei DT analysis engineer/leader from your market for the exact value used in each test.
3.1.4 Test Plan Configuration a) Launch GENEX Probe b) In Device Configuration, Configure both UE c) Configure the MOSCard Under model, choose “MAYA44 USB+” d) Configure the USB GPS or scanner Note: if UE or GPS is configured correctly, when clicking Test Port button
, the
State shown should be “Enable” e) Establish connection of UE, MOSCard and GPS to GENEX Probe by clicking Connect f)
