DEFORMACIONES ANGULARES (slope – deflection) 1 INTRODUCCIÓN: El profesor George A. Maney presentó en 1915 el método del análisis de estructuras Slope deflection en una publicación sobre ingeniería estructural de la universidad de Minesota. Su trabajo fue una extensión de estudios anteriores acerca de esfuerzos secundarios realizados por Heinrich Manderla y Otto Mohr entre los años 1880-1900. Su popularidad se mantuvo entre los ingenieros de la época por casi 15 años hasta la aparición del método de distribución de momentos (método de Cross). Este método permite conocer los momentos en los extremos de las barras que conforman una estructura mediante la solución de un sistema de ecuaciones que tiene en cuenta los desplazamientos y las rotaciones en los nodos. También es importante tener en cuenta que este método sólo es aplicable a estructuras con nodos rígidos como es el caso de las vigas continuas y pórticos rígidos, ya que no se considera el efecto de deformaciones por carga axial que son las que se producen en las cerchas. Hoy día, este método en su forma convencional es poco útil debido a los programas tan avanzados de análisis de estructuras que existen en la actualidad. Sin embargo se sigue considerando como uno de los métodos de desplazamiento más importante de acuerdo con las siguientes consideraciones: consideraciones:
Para algunos sistemas estructurales simples (vigas, marcos rígidos) el método puede presentar una solución rápida y práctica.

2.1 Convenciones:

2.3 DEDUCCIÓN DE LAS ECUACIONES DEL SLOPE-DEFLECTION: Imagine un pórtico el cual ha sido sometido a un sistema de cargas cualquiera: peso propio, carga viva, fuerza de sismo, viento, etc. Como resultado de la aplicación de este sistema de cargas la estructura sufre deformaciones (rotaciones y desplazamientos) en los nodos y a su vez se generan fuerzas en cada uno de los elementos de la estructura.

PLANTEAMIENTO GENERAL DEL MÉTODO DE DEFORMACIONES DEFORMACIONES ANGULARES: Para solucionar estructuras haciendo uso de las deformaciones angulares se siguen los siguientes pasos: a. Aplicar las ecuaciones básicas de momento de deformaciones a cada una de las
barras de la estructura. Estos momentos quedan en función de las rotaciones en los extremos y de los desplazamientos relativos entre los extremos de cada barra. b. Plantear una ecuación de equilibrio de momentos en cada uno de los nodos de la
estructura. En algunas estructuras es necesario plantear ecuaciones de equilibrio en algunos elementos o en toda la estructura, como se verá mas adelante en los ejercicios tipo.
