What role does basic technological research play in the product development process? How would you modify Exhibit 2-3 to better represent the research and technology development activities in product development?
Following are the few roles technological research play in the product development:
First of all it tells you which technology is being used in the market.
It will give you a ‘benchmark’ ‘benchmark’ for the technology to be used in your product. You will be aware of what technology competitors are using and what technology you need to stay in competition. competition.
It will give you an idea of what skills are required for the use of technology. This will help you hire the right people for the use of technology. A machine will be will be useless if you don’t know know how to use use it.
It will give you an idea where market is moving in the use of technology and what sort of research and development you will need in the future for your product.
It will also give you idea to identify your target market on the basis of technology you will be using will be using in your product.
On the next page is the sequence of activities I will be using in the research and technology development of my new product.
