Unlike the steady alternate picking of Lick 16, the opening line here has a more varied approach, mixing legato and muted picking with a more complex rhythm. The s tring skipping pattern in measure 3 is reminiscent of Lick 5. The fast line over Am11 is based mostly on an Am7 arpeggio (A C E G) but with added B and F# notes.
