1 .Buses continue to be the most popular means of transportation for intra-city travel. The following pie chart shows the catering of various modes for commuting transport in Delhi 2. Delhi transportation is heavily depend upon road network ,therefore high congestion occurs at most of the main junctions
1. Delhi and NCR lose nearly 42 CRORE (420 MILLION) MAN-HOURS every month while commuting between home and office through public transport, due to the traffic congestion. 2. Therefore ,serious efforts are underway for other mode of transport projects like metro, to encourage usage of public transport in the city as a result, load on road network can became less

ROADWAYS…
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) operates the world's largest fleet of CNG-powered buses. FUTURE REQUIREMENT ? There is a requirement for 11,000 public transport buses in Delhi and, as per an agreement between DTC and DIMTS, both are mandated to run 5,500 buses each in the city. While DTC currently operates around 5,000 buses, DIMTS has only 1,157 cluster buses, or 4,343 less than the required 5,500 as per the commitment.

500m stretch between the entry point of Anand Vihar Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) and the railway station on Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg is a bottleneck More than half of the carriageway is occupied - Roadways buses problem is compounded by Gramin Sewas parked randomly to attract passengers and the hawkers dotting the area. little-used, footbridge in the area UP Roadways bus terminus -petrol pump, which caters to more than 100 vehicles in an hour Three-wheelers are parked on this stretch to pick up passengers coming from the railway station drivers prefer to park on road and, that too, haphazardly. petrol pump, which has a contract with long-distance bus operators, can cater to only five buses at a time, so the rest line up on the road. It takes about 30 minutes to cross the stretch during the peak hours

ANALYSIS Phase 2 Development • number of platforms will be increased to 7 in total • terminal will have a capacity to handle over 3 lakh passengers and as many as 270 trains daily. • linking of this terminal with the original Anand Vihar station.
WHEN METRO COMPLETES ITS PHASE 3 DEVELOPMENT , CORRIDOR 1 : 56KM WILL BECOME THE LONGEST LINE . THE MAJOR STATIONS WILL BE YAMUNA VIHAR - MUKUNDPUR : MUKUNDPUR - ROUJOURI GARDEN (INTERCHANGE STATION) - DHAULA KHUAN - ANAND VIHAR (INTERCHANGE STATION) - YAMUNA VIHAR

HISTORY AND EVOLUTION October 2000 Only Anand Vihar ISBT and local Anand Vihar Railway Station (ANVR / Halt) exists.
October 2006 Clearance of the site for construction of Anand Vihar Terminal Phase 1.
In recent years Ananad Vihar has evolved as a major transit hub in Delhi NCR . And it is still evolving (as a Multi-Modal Transit Hub) itself to be more efficient in future.
Evolution of Anand Vihar Railway Terminus To reduce the passenger pressure at the existing stations, the requirement of additional major passenger terminals was identified by the Northern Railways. The East-bound trains from Delhi had to cross the bridge over River Yamuna as all the three major stations are located on the other side of the river. Thus, the area of Anand Vihar was selected in the trans-Yamuna region to construct a mega-railway terminal.
January 2008 Anand Vihar Metro station and Railway Terminal’s Phase 1 construction started.
Present (2014)
January 2010
Development Anand Vihar Railway Station Phase-II is under construction which will be having 7 number of platforms including the existing 3 platforms in the Phase-I of the project. Anand Vihar Halt (ANVR) will also be integrated with ANVT according to the proposed design.
Both metro station and Terminal were in function. • In Recent Years, since Noida Sector 62 became the DTC Bus Stop, hundreds of commuters who earlier used to go to Anand Vihar ISBT to commute further to travel to west and south Delhi were shifted to Noida Sector 62 due to which they are connected to DND flyway. • It has decreased the intensity of people at Anand Vihar ISBT and Metro. history and evolution
DAILY TIME CYCLES
Daily time cycle has a major interchange differences during morning and evening due to office people and college students. Rest of the day the activity of the people is continuous and uniform throughout the whole day MORNING 6AM – 11AM DECREASING INTENSITY OF PEOPLE
FROM ANVR TO METRO, BUS ETC.
FROM AUTO TO METRO, BUS ETC.
FROM METRO TO BUS, AUTO ETC.
FROM BUS TO METRO.
TO ANVT (COLLECTIVELY FROM ALL) .
• huge number of passengers interchange from local train to either mode of transport i.e. bus or metro because people towards Delhi from Ghaziabad to go to office/college. • other main mode of transportation from Ghaziabad side to Delhi is sharing auto. then people are usually disperse to buses and metros.
NOON 11AM – 5PM DECREASING INTENSITY OF PEOPLE
FROM METRO TO BUS ETC.
FROM BUS TO METRO, ETC.
FROM AUTO TO METRO, BUS ETC.
TO ANVT (COLLECTIVELY FROM ALL) .
• less number of people interchange from local train to any other means as there are less number of trains during this duration lap. • interchange of transport happens maximum happens between metro, bus, railway terminal.

CONTINUITY / CHANGES
With daily changing time cycle, there is still a continuity in everyday routine
ANAND VIHAR LOCAL RAILWAY STATION • Density of passengers travel by local train/ EMU’s is very high. • Maximum of number of passengers (mainly office goers and college students) travel by train between Ghaziabad and Delhi (as it has a good connectivity and also a cheaper mode of transport) . • So many number of people interchange their mode of transport at Anand Vihar. Metro Train
Bus
ANAND VIHAR ISBT AKA SWAMI VIVEKANAND ISBT • Caters to many local and distant passengers during the whole day. • It is a main transit point for distant passengers as number of state / depot buses are available and also for local / daily passengers as DTC has provided with number of buses connecting people to almost to every place within Delhi / NCR.
ANAND VIHAR RAILWAY TERMINAL • Since the train schedule is well planned, the frequency of people on Railway terminal during train arrivals and departures is uniform throughout and continuous 24 hours. • Density is not very high at any time of the day ANAND VIHAR METRO STATION Metro Station is always filled with lots of passengers due to the reasons – • Metro station has so many users as this is the main junction / transit point for those people who commute between Delhi and Ghaziabad (UP). • Frequency of metro service is after every 2-5 min. due to which maximum people opt for metro. • This makes the place always happening except during closing hours. continuity and changes
