TELUGU DESAM PARTY Origination: Late Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who was a leading actor of Telugu Film Industry, founded the Telugu Desam Party on 21 st March 1982 on the plea of his fans to give his contribution to the society and to extend helping hand to down trodden in the society.
Telugu Desam Party came into power within Nine Months of its formation with overwhelming majority above the only major party prevailing at that time. Dr.N.T.Rama Rao was known as People’s Chief Minister. The first file signed after coming into ruling by NTR is Abolition of Liquor in Andhra Pradesh State. He introduced Rs.2 per kg Rice Scheme to the poor people. He abolished Patvari system and introduced Mandal System to abolish corruption in administration.
TELUGU DESAM PARTY Dr.NTR served as Chief Minister for three terms between 1983 and 1995.
A scoop was foiled by Sri Nadendla Bhaskara Rao to displace NTR as Chief Minister. With People’s support, within a month he regained his position. NTR’s contribution in forming National Democratic Alliance and forming non-Congress Government comprising of Janata Dal, Bharatiya Janata Party, CPI and CPM. He inshrined the statues of famous Telugu Dignitaries on Tank Bund to familiarize Telugu Culture to all.
Sri N.Chandra Babu Naidu succeeded Dr.NTR and leading the Telugu Desam Party and taking ahead the ideology of N.T.Rama Rao. The basic ideology of Telugu Desam Party is: •

Promote all round recognition for Telugu culture, literature and Language. Youth empowerment through skill training for educated rural youth, cultural and sports activities in rural areas to wean them away from left wing influence and also village factions. Administrative reforms - to usher in e-governance to regulate and streamline - rationings, pensions, scholarships - cheap loans to women, farmers and self-employed. Youth promotion in sports, skill development, political training classes - cultural and grass root development programs. Empowerment of traditional artisans, weavers and other rural occupational communities with finance and training in skills. Promotion of minor and medium irrigation, micro irrigation to benefit farmers in dry and arid regions of the state.
