and placements, along with an overview from Troy himself, are also in this months Snake Eyes.
Necromunda and Mordheim campaigns are still slowly continuing, and updates will be posted in Snake Eyes future issues.
Initially I would like to apologise to all Flames Of War gamers who read Snake Eyes. I mentioned in an article last issue, that the miniatures used in Battlefront’s game are of a 1:144 scale whereas I was advised by a veteran FOW player that the scale is actually 1:100.
As we are not club bias, any reader can send me info about the club we play and importantly any upcoming tournaments. Pictures are great for any member special projects, or even just pictures of your stuff, so send them in as well.
Steven Azzopardi managed a Necromunda game last month, and it was the quickest game I have ever seen. It lasted probably no more than 15 minutes. One intense round of shooting saw three of Stevens gang go down, including the heavy who went out of action. This meant a bottle test for his Delaque gang, which he promptly failed.

PentaCon came, saw and conquered. In the end we had eight players. Previous PentaCon players, Tim Prenzler, Simon Machin, Courtney Halverson, Steven Azzopardi, and new players Darian Chase, Peter Toh and Sean O’Hanlon, showed for the day. I made up the eighth player. A great day was enjoyed by all. Photos of the action and who came where are in this issue. The same weekend of PentaCon ran a Flames Of War Tournament, organized and run on the weekend by GGG member, Troy Standen. This was in commemoration of D-Day and ran with 23 players over two days. GGG Member Glen Taylor has reawakened my collecting passion with his games of 3rd Edition Warhammer. Whether this is a good thing for me I don’t know as there are many projects that I am collecting for. Glen, John McDonnell, James Taylor and Simon Machin have also been adding to their respectively vast collections lately. That being said, you can never have enough miniatures...can you? We will have to wait some more time for our new covers, due to the artist being currently overwhelmed with projects which is a good thing for her. I haven’t run out of ideas yet.

GarageGamersGroup-The Games We Play A GGG discussion supported any miniature based game could be promoted by the group. To date the following lists the games to be played and currently playing in GGG.
ARKHAM HORROR Arkham Horror is an adventure board game designed by Richard Launius, originally published in 1987 by Chaosium and most recently published in 2005 and revised in 2007 by Fantasy Flight Games. In both editions, players take on the role of investigators in H. P. Lovecraft's Massachusetts town of Arkham. Gates to other planes open throughout the town. If too many gates open, a powerful alien being will enter, likely destroying the town and possibly threatening the world. The investigators must avoid or fight alien creatures that enter Arkham through the gates, enter the gates themselves, survive the alien places beyond, return to Arkham, and close the gates. The game board is made up of locations in Lovecraft's fictional city of Arkham during 1926. Street, building and outdoor locations are featured, as well as otherworldly locations that investigators can venture into. Players each have an investigator, represented by a character card, several attributes, and cards representing items, spells, and other things. As game play progresses, gates to these other worlds open and are represented by tokens placed on the board. Monsters from the other worlds enter through the gates and wander the city. The investigators travel through the city, avoiding or fighting the monsters, visiting city locations to acquire tools, and ultimately entering the gates. After traveling through the other world and returning, the investigator can try to close the gate. While exploring city locations or other worlds, the investigators face random challenges and benefits. As gates open, a "Doom Track" advances; if it reaches the end, a powerful horrific creature known as the Ancient One breaks through into Arkham. In the 1987 edition of the game, this ends the game in failure for the players. In the 2005 edition, this (in most cases) begins an endgame in which the players have a small chance to defeat the creature and win; otherwise they lose.

A Table of your own.. Ongoing first table maker tips. You will need to visit your hardware store, with someone (if you don’t) who owns a utility or van. Decide whether you want a 4 x 4, 6 x 4, or 8 x 4 (imperial) size table. 1200 x 1200, 1800 x 1200 and 2400 x 1200 (metric). Then you will need a piece of chipboard of the above dimensions with a thickness of at least 12mm as it will be taking screws. Ask the staff to cut it to size. You will also need between 4 and 8 pine studs around 3 feet or 900mm long. Make sure that these are all the same size. Then
depending on the size of the table you want, purchase some lengths of the skirting that goes around a door frame. Around a 70mm width is fine. The length you will need is determined again by your table size. This will edge your table and provide leg support.
In summary you have: 1 x tabletop piece of chipboard, 4, 6 or 8 pine stud leg supports, 1-2 packets of 50mm wood screws, (I used Phillip's head screws), your lengths of skirting for table edges, white wood glue, a drill.
In a 1800mm x 1200mm table you will need 4 x 1210mm, 4 x 1200mm and 4 x 1800mm lengths. The 10mm extra is for the overlap. You will also need one or two packs of 50mm timber screws. Other necessary items are white wood glue and a drill.
Pre drill along the skirting sections holes about 13mm from one edge, then after adding a strip of wood glue along the edge of the tabletop, affix skirting piece by screwing in wood screws using holes that you just drilled. Continued next issue...
Collecting can be highly addictive. I am a completion-ist, a person who must complete sets. There is nothing more dissatisfying than an incomplete collection. Yet to complete collections you have to spend money, and with that comes the reality of what do you pay. I find it appalling these days to see people expect to get a return of 75% of their initial investment on a second hand item. What is even more distressing is what people think an item is worth just because it is out of production. However people still believe that people will pay what the

For me second hand items should be no more than 50% for a personal sale. If you run a business then 20-25% is what you want to pay for an item. If you go to a secondhand dealer (ie pawn shop) then you will find an even ruder surprise of what to expect for a price.
Trades are even more difficult to settle on as one party believes the worth of their items more “valuable” than the other parties’ trades. After all a collection of poorly painted figures is not worth in trade their initial cost, so to expect they can be traded for a similar number or “value” of pristine figures is erroneous.

Well how quickly does the month go ? I was lucky to hear about a Flames of War Tourney in Brisbane and went to see. As well as plenty of terrain filled tables there was also some Bolt Action happening as well. I also managed to get to PentaCon being run on the same weekend. There are pictures in this issue from both events and congrats to Troy Standen and Nick Chase for a job well done. I was sad to think that more people didn't know or come for a look which brings me to the observation this issue. I have long said that the war games community is like ancient Celtic tribes. Each tribe builds its village up, puts a wall up, and growls at others who come to close. Now before you scream that ‘not all do this’ let me break it down. Shops and companies rarely work together for the good of the games. Clubs will mostly do their own thing. Game specific groups stay with in THEIR own circles. Ok, shop and companies are in business and every dollar counts, but it has been in my experience gamers will play a broad range of games and, will shop around. They will find other stores and games but ALWAYS remember those that where helpful and friendly. That’s what will draw the gamers back. Clubs do struggle for members but I think about lawn bowls where clubs visit each other, and other sports that have carnivals. As for individual groups, by mixing with others you would find more gamers and maybe part timers for your games.
Well its time for me to shut me gates and retire back into my bunker. I leave you with the thought that with all this electronic media we have, we should be a community strong and united. So if you are getting this magazine please share with a friend and a show and share your world with us. Glen

Valister D’Harhk surveyed the field, eyeing off the approaching Slann with obvious distaste. From a distance the frog spawn looked like mutants, and perhaps really should be on this side of the field, he mused. ‘No’, he muttered to himself. They were an affront to Chaos. Why not would he and his small, but feared band of warriors be led here, if not for the killing of such creatures. Spitting through his fangs he turned his mount to give the first order to move. One of the beastmen bleated with either respect or fear, as it shuffled backwards on it’s cloven hooves to avoid the hissing grass, that burned into the dirt from the Chaos champions acid spittle. Nick won the toss, and began by moving his Chaos Army forward. Eagerly anticipating the hand to hand combat, the army raced forward at the speed of a rabid snail, (curse this heavy armour and barding.) Glen’s Slann sat back and watched the Chaos advance. His champion motioned to the Jaguar Warriors to release the power of the Standard, (although he may just have been shooing away flies), and the lightning from the standard flickered out, causing a wound on the closest Chaos Warrior. A Wizard on the other side of the Slann Army gestured, and magicked a fierce gale into the Beastmen. They managed to make their roll (under 3) and pushed back against it at half movement, eager to tear and rip at the insolent mage.
The Chaos Champion moved through the small hamlet, imagining the frightened whimpers from inside the hovels. He knew though that the previous owners of the dilapidated buildings had already fled, for the smells were old. Perhaps even the Slann had no time for the weak humans. Urging his hell mount forward, he targeted the Slann Champion, ignoring the Slann Wizard who was slinking around the other side of the building.
The Slann bought other magic to bear, but this time the dice gods were fickle, and either failed to hit or failed to wound. It was time to face this threat to their ponds. The animal handlers moved forward at the command of the Slann Champion. The Scorpions moved towards the Choas Knights, raising their huge pincers menacingly. The Bull Slann Cold One riders urged their cold blooded mounts forward to take the fight to the Chaos Warriors. The Slann Champion took this moment to sidle his mount out of charge line of sight from the Chaos champion, lining up the Troglodytes to take the charge if there was going to be one.
The Chaos Champion ignored the Troglodytes who had moved forward towards him, and came around the building, still wanting to test his blade on the cold guts of the Slann Champion.
The Scorpions smashed into the Chaos Knights, with the Knights passing their fear test, with a clash of chiton on armour. The low initiative of the scorpions proved their undoing, as the Chaos Knights got first attack. Multiple wounds not withstanding, the first scorpion died outright and the other lost half of its wounds, the return attack taking a wound from one of the Knights not quick enough to pull back his hand. In answer to this ignominy, the Knights then destroyed the other scorpion and its handler.
The Cold One Hounds had better fortunes. The Wind spell was again cast against the Beastmen. This time they failed to push forward, and instead opted to fall back out of charge range. The Wind spell however, had slowed the Beastmen enough for the charge range of the Cold One Hounds to still be enough for the attack. With the slavering brutes thundering towards them, the nerve of the Beastmen broke, and they turned and ran for the edge of the battlefield. Not slowing the Cold One Hounds pursued them SNAKE

The Bull Slann Cold One Riders charged into the Chaos Warriors. The Warriors took their charge and commenced simultaneous battle. In the brief but bloody skirmish, it was cold blood that splashed the ground as three Slann died, for the one Chaos Warrior. The Chaos Champion rode passed the Troglodytes and aimed his lance at the Slann Wizard who disappeared in a flurry of coloured feathers, and relocated behind the Chaos Warriors. The Champion readjusted his choice of targets and smashed into the side of the engaged Slann Cold One Riders, killing the remaining two.
The Slann Champion meanwhile charged his Cold One into the side of the Knights as they were cutting down the animal handler. The Pygmy Chieftain had moved his band of Pygmies into a charge on the Knights other flank. The combined effect of the Pygmies Banner and ranks, plus the charge bonuses and fear causing Cold One left the Chaos Knights undone, and they too joined the Beastmen, and retreated from the battle.
The Chaos Warriors tried in vain to charge the Slann Spawn Bands, not having the range with movement lost to the wheeling of the unit.
The Chaos Champion turned his mount and charged into the Troglodytes, passing his fear test, to engage the simple minded but vicious creatures. Although he killed several, he could not take the whole unit. Chaos lost the field to the Slaan. SLANN 5 VP CHAOS 4 VP SNAKE

Crazy Horse was a Native American war leader who took up arms against the U.S. Federal government to fight against encroachments on the territories and way of life of the Lakota people, including leading a war party to victory at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in June 1876. Born around 1840, Gall was said to receive his nickname after eating the gall of an animal killed by a neighbour. He grew to be a giant of a man weighing close to 300 pounds. Recognised as an accomplished warrior during his late teens he became a war chief in his twenties leading the Lakota in their long war against the United States. He served with Sitting Bull during several battles, including the famous Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. Pack contains 2 metal foot and 2 metal mounted figures. SNAKE

Dark Heresy
is a role playing game set in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, the decaying dark
future of Warhammer 40,000. Below is the continuing background story of Bekki Imam, GGG member Simon Machins’ character in Dark Heresy, continued from last issue. Sister Krankies diaries Part 8 My name is Bekki Imam, I am an Acolyte of the Handmaidens of the Emperor, an Adepta Sororitas. We rest and recuperate for a few hours. I went to see the Confessor, Fratus Quintella. He was a burly overweight man in his middle years. I quickly warmed to him, as he was a devout member of the Ecclesiarchy. I tell him of all that took place and confessed my sins to him. I did not tell him about any of the daemons or mission specifics. He was most helpful, and he left me feeling better about the choices I had made. I left the chapel and sought out the Astropathic Choir. The Choir was easy to find. I went in and immediately asked to talk to the Choir Master Faye Bess. As I was escorted through the choir room, a female voice started to talk to me in my head through telepathic communication. She welcomed me by name and said she was waiting for me to come and see her. I replied via my thoughts, that I was told to see her by the ships Navigator. She was a little surprised at the ease in which I transitioned to thought communication, pleasantly surprised. She told me she had received a communication from my Order. My vow of silence was no longer in affect and I am to become a full sister. I thanked her and left. I arrived back in my quarters. A short time later we were interrupted by Zhelhow, the Senior Tech Priest. He demands to see the weapon that Brawn had found. We deny him. We have probably made an enemy but we will deal with that later.
The ships Senior Security Officer informs us that the Bosun wants to see us immediately. We meet the Bosun just outside the command deck. He promptly informs us we are chasing a fast slough of a ship that detached itself from the Child of Destiny shortly after we did. It is a pirate ship of some type. The designation of the ship is an old design normally shipped by renegades. He tells us that he needs volunteers, to help man some posts. We agree. Brawn and Carno went to help the gunnery crews. The Commander went to the bridge, and I went to the Astropathic Choir. I went to provide guidance to the Choir in case they needed it. The Techpriest went to Engineerium of the ship. He reported to Zhelhow. There he met a young geneticist by the name of Garma Rho. She was a very young techpriest in charge of the Ominissiar congregation. Grim Trauma went to the docking bay and volunteered himself as a co pilot to one of the fighter ships. The ship battle went well. Brawn and Carno told me later that they ‘had fun’. Brawn was put in charge of some big guns. He got to shoot at the enemy vessel with some Large "Lasers". The ship battle lasted a while we got hit a few times, some crew were killed, but we did better then the enemy.
A while into the fight, collision alarms sounded and we braced for impact. I help some of the Astropaths take position and we get thrown around as the ship crashes into something. I get a message on my microbead to form up at docking bay 24 to repell a boarding assault. I give apologies to Faye Bess and leave. She telepathically replies good luck, and may the Emperor be with you. I reply the same way, ‘Emperor be with you, Lady’.

I meet the rest of my team at the docking bay and we board a special boarding ship. We launch and enter the enemy vessel. The shuttle also contains members of Hobbs squad, from the Child of Destiny. I feel good, taking the fight to the enemy and I pray to the Emperor for guidance, strength and fortitude.
The ship punches a hole in the enemy vessel and we disembark. The troopers of Hobbs squad make good headway. We are facing the same pirates that we fought and destroyed on the Child of Destiny. Battle commences with the ambush teams that they have waiting for us. They take some of our troopers down and we return the favour. We start to make good headway until the Arbiter mis-throws a grenade and takes out his own cyber mastiff. We fight and kill quite a few pirates. Suddenly a large mutant appeared, brandishing a large chainsword and a huge disproportionate arm and hand. He is obviously the leader as he make motions with his hands and the pirates follow his directions.
I manoeuver myself around to take care of him. He calls out a challenge to us. Grim Trauma accepts. The mutant starts playing with him, enjoying the challenge. He disarmed Grim, and started towards him, raising the massive chainsword. The team then attacked. I raced in and attacked the mutant leader. I manage to hit him with my flail, but it only seems to anger him more. He retaliates by slashing at me with the chain sword. It shears through my armour and vestments, tearing into my chest and down the front of my thighs. I collapse in agony. My squad continue to attack the pirates, as does Hobb’s. Brawn yells and chopped at the mutant. Chaos is with the Mutant, and he only takes a few scratches. I pray to the Emperor as I grab the blessed bolter. I shoot, aiming for the Mutants chest area. The shell finds the mark, lodging in his chest. The Mutants chest explodes. As the Pirate Leader fell, I passed out.

The games played on the day included Necromunda, Mordheim, BattleCry, Star Wars X-Wing and Old West. All games were designed to have a winner each and the final round was played in a game of Old West with all the players participating. The clear winner on the day, was Tim Prenzler, picking up some nice prizes and the GGG sword perpetual trophy. Sean O’Hanlon came second and Peter Toh came in third. Discussions on the next PentaCon suggested
Board Games might be used for the next one. This was the first time Mordheim and BattleCry were used in this tournament, but the rules were simple enough in the case of BattleCry, and similar to Necromunda in the case of Mordheim, for the players to pick up quickly. Other GGG members who couldn’t play on the day did manage to pop in for a look at the event, shown in the pictures on the next page. It was a big well done to all the members who managed to make it on the day to support GGG’s own event.

FLAMES OF WAR Tourney was held over the weekend of July 7/8. It was organised and by GGG member Troy Standen to coincide with the anniversary of D-Day. Photos have been provided by Troy, but enemy infiltrators have intercepted the information about the tournament, so I can only show you what made it through to me. I am informed both by Troy and another member who visited the tournament that there were plenty of great tables and lots of enthusiastic gamers, who attended over the weekend. The Tournament Winner was Bryan Gagen, with a German force, coming home with a 26 point victory. He was followed by Michael Clarke who took second with 25 points for his German force, and in third place was Paul Skuse, with 24 points earned with his U.S. force. Judging by the scores it was a tight place for many gamers. Well done to the winner, and all who came to enjoy this tournament. Well done also to Troy for running the event.

RIVERHORSE GAMES Founder and Games Designer Alessio Cavatore and GGG member, tells us more about his game site creations...
Shuuro is the core of a new system of abstract war gaming, where you are in command of armies of chess pieces. Different from traditional chess, you are not forced to field a given set of pieces on the board, but can choose which pieces to field, based on your skill and tactical preferences. The innovative gaming board features terrain elements that change position every time you play, so that each game introduces a different challenge. Shuuro is a game for two players, which merges the precision and rigour of chess with the creativity and variety of war-gaming. It does so by attaching a points value to each traditional chess piece and allowing the players to spend a predetermined amount of these points (say, a total of 800 points) to select the chess ‘army’ that they think makes the best use of the points. This creates a feeling of ‘ownership’ towards the particular combination the player thinks is the most effective. The ‘battle’ will then take place on a large chess board of twelve by twelve squares. This board, however, also introduces a new and unique element to the game. Each of the four six-by-six quadrants of the board contains two plinths that block the movement of the pieces. These plinths are placed randomly at the beginning of every game with the help of a dice, ensuring that every game will be different and present unique challenges. The plinths also help in balancing the game, restricting the movement of Queens, Bishops and Rooks, while at the same time allowing Knights to land onto them and using them as defensive positions (as only an enemy Knight can take them while they’re there). It is worth noting that game box also includes a normal chessboard and full rules for traditional chess, making it good to learn chess and allowing players to engage in this great classic as well as the innovative Shuuro. LOKA is a fantastically sculpted Chess sets and a brand new take on playing Chess, brought to you by River Horse. LOKA is played with fantasy-inspired Chess pieces, each evoking the powerful imagery of one of the four elements. At its heart, LOKA uses the rules of Chess, and Alessio has some significant twists in mind in the form of new mechanics: Choose your army - Each player get to choose which pieces they put onto the board, meaning both players command different armies on the battlefield – do you field a small but elite force with three Queens, or do you go for a mass horde of Pawns? Fantasy Scenery – Change the shape of the battlefield with movement blocking terrain that alters the path you’ll take into combat. Dice Driven Combat – a simple and elegant system using eight sided dice adds some unpredictability to combat, placing extra emphasis on strategy and positioning as pieces build in power with support from their comrades.

Members Spotlight - Steven Azzopardi I started gaming with miniatures way back in April 2013, when I began playing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay with a group of friends. Before that I would have to say that I was not a miniature gamer, although I did play games from time to time.
I am however a collector. I own a huge comic collection. I also love Star Wars and have about $20000 invested into that collection. I have collected nearly all of the Star Wars action figures, and some of the bigger figures as well.
Although I consider myself more of a console gamer, than a miniature gamer, I did play some games that would have led me there eventually.
When I feel ready to start collecting miniatures, I am considering a Tau army for Warhammer 40000. I am enjoying trying different games like the ones at PentaCon. I appreciate the variety of games that are out there.
I started playing roleplay back in 2000, getting introduced to roleplay in a game called Everquest. From there the next roleplay game I played was Vampire the Masquerade.
The next game I want to try is Dreadfleet. I have a game planned of that next month...
