Passive & Hybrid DAS Commissioning Checklist/Report T-Mobile Fox Hills Mall Property: Fox Hill Mall, Culver City, CA
Date: 12/30/09
Service Provider Commissioned: T-Mobile
Band Commissioned: PCS “F/C3” Band
SCI Commissioning Representative: Stephe n Turner (408) 396-1235 Service Provider Commissioning Rep Name & Phone Number: Kenworth Budd (562) 500-4477 Type/Model No of Service Provider Equipment Installed: RBS 2206 1900MHz GSM Checklist: q
Site Ready for Commissioning on Arrival? YES o Were all components that you needed installed (demarc strip, terminators on unused combiner box input ports, etc)? YES o Were all components properly mounted in cabinet? YES o On outdoor ER, was cabinet and connections properly waterproofed? N/A (indoor) o Were all coax connectors tight? YES o Note any other deficiencies: o Antenna #14&15 not there in food court / Antenna # 16 bi-directional pointed down
q
Connect a cable from the demarc to the appropriate combiner box input for each sector. If a DAS having more than one combiner box is to be driven as a single sector, install a power divider between the demarc and the combiner box inputs. OK
q
Systems driven by a repeater: N/A o Verify that the repeater is band-specific (i.e., if they are in the PCS D band, it should work only for the PCS D band, and not for the A or B bands as well). N/A o Install a directional coupler in the downlink cable just before the DAS sectorization/combining box (see diagram). Connect up all remaining cables as well. The DAS must be fully connected before commissioning the system. N/A o Commission the downlink drive level so that the composite power into the head-end equipment will never exceed a level equivalent to the number of radios allowed on the Exhibit B, each at the specified power per radio (see table below). If commissioned during a typical “off-peak” traffic period, the actual composite power measured during commissioning should be 5 dB less than this value in order to allow headroom for peak traffic demands. N/A o Connect a spec analyzer to the coupled port of the directional coupler via an appropriate safety attenuator. Set the RBW to 100 KHz. Record a trace of 1930 to 1990 MHz (if PCS band) or 869 to 894 MHz (if Cell band). Record another trace beginning at 10 MHz below the customer’s band to 10 MHz above the customer’s band. Verify that the strongest signal measured outside the customer’s band in these traces is no stronger than 25 dB below the prescribed DAS drive level (refer to the Exhibit B). If this level is exceeded, call John Flavin (919 466-5655) or Rueben McGruder (919 465-6683) for instructions. N/A

q
Systems driven by a BTS OK o Have the BTS tech adjust the BTS for the prescribed power per radio. It is not necessary to have him turn the BTS all the way up and insert additional attenuation.
q
After downlink attenuation is set, fill in the blanks on the cabling config diagram. OK Take photograph of service provider’s side of demark. OK Take photograph of front and back of SCI cabinet (doors open). OK Take photograph of service providers equipment. OK Ensure all unused ports are terminated, all coax connections are tight, and all opening in outdoor cabinets are sealed before you leave. OK Record RSS under each antenna for each service commissioned (fill in table below).

The following items are not part of service provider commissioning, but are helpful in assisting ATC to identify any other problems while somebody is at the site. The commissioning technician is not required to fix any problems found during the following steps, only to identify them to ATC in the report comments. q q q q q q q
Call Sean Hennessey at (919) 466-5125 or Rueben McGruder at (919) 637-7771 to verify that ATC can connect remotely to the system and monitor all the appropriate alarms. OK Record the ER door or gate combination: 8522 Is the Equipment Room neat and in good order? YES Are the ER lights operational? YES Is the climate control (air conditioning) operational? N/A Verify that the equipment layout matches the As-built drawings. OK Take pictures of the equipment room from all four corners. OK
