Los americanos abrevian "going to" con gonna: I'm gonna miss you = I'm going to miss you (Te voy a echar de menos) He's gonna come = He's going to come (Él va a volver). 1.- I'm going to teach English to young children. 2.- How long are you going to be there for? 3.- It's winter in Australia now, so it is going to be quite cold. 4.- Is he going to meet you at the airport? 5.- I'm sure you're going to have a great time. Te date Las fecha se dicen con ordinales: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, … ningth, … twentieth..., 3rd May = (the) tird (of) May (También se puede decir May the third) 20th July 1998 = (the) twentieth (of) July nineteen ninety-eight. Vocabulary For a long time = for ages Definite plans for the future = arrangements
I continue to be = I'm still (todavía estoy) Maybe = perhaps The two = both To decid (a day/date)= fix (fijar) Cuando se da la hora de salida o llegada de medios de transporte, se dice la hora digital: 12.20 = twelve twenty Present continuous (for future arrangements): página 130 del libro Cuando I'm flying no se traduce por estoy volando sino por por voy a volar. Como por ejemplo: I'm flying to Australia What are you doing next weekend (quedaría raro con "What are you doing to do next weekend?") I'm going away this weekend He's coming on Friday I'm seeing my doctor's tomorrow I'm meeting my friends tonight I'm staying at a villa (Villa = Casa o mansión junto al mar) En contraposición, cuando se usa be going to, no necesitas una reserva en algún lado o acuerdo previo con otras personas: I'm going to wash my hair tonight Estructura GOING TO + INFINITIVO
a) Frase afirmativa Sujeto + to be + going to + verbo infinitivo -->
Sandra is going to buy a newspaper (Sandra va a comprarse un periódico) b) Frase negativa Sujeto + to be + not + going to + verbo infinitivo -->
Sandra isn't going to buy a newspaper (Sandra no va a comprarse un periódico) c) Frase interrogativa To be + not + sujeto + going to + verbo principal en infinitivo? -->
Is Sandra going to buy a newspaper? (¿Va Sandra a comprarse un periódico? ) Isn't Sandra going to buy a newspaper? “What are you going to do next summer?” “I'm going to stay in next weekend.”
“I want to stay in next weekend.” 2) Para hacer predicciones sobre acontecimientos futuros basándose en evidencias o indicios del presente.
“Look at those fierce dogs. They are going to bite us.” Mira esos perros con pinta de agresivos. Nos van a morder. PRESENTE CONTINUO CON VALOR DE FUTURO Estructura:
Ejemplos: - “The train’s leaving at 10 o´clock.” - “The conference is taking place in two days.” - “ I´m travelling to London the day after tomorrow.” Diferencia entre presente continuo y to be going to: Aunque ambos pueden utilizarse para
Ejemplos: “She´s starting her German lessons next week”. She’s going to start learning German.” (De momento es solo una intención)

Hay verbos que tiene más sentido usarlos con el presente continuo: - When you travel = fly, go, arrive, come, leave, stay - Y otros que implican unos planes previos o haber quedado previamente: see, meet, do Las acciones que te hacen otros, se escriben de forma pasiva (se verá más adelante): I'm having my hair cut: Me harán el pelo cortar (literalmente). Me voy a cortar el pelo
