Abstract Racial discrimination has been an ongoing ongo ing problem within society from the time of slavery. ver the years racial discrimination has progressed to where it is now. !he iss"e of racial discrimination is shown in many different aspects and towards people o f all races. !his literat"re review will inform the reader abo"t the history of racial discrimination along with the different ways in which discrimination is present in society today.

Introduction
#rom the time that slaves arrived in America many races have been treated "nfairly. A ma$or ma$or on going go ing problem within society is the problem of racial discrimination% this problem was at its pea& d"ring the reconstr"ction era and d"ring the civil rights movement. !hro"gho"t the years racial discrimination has progressed more and more within the Hispanic and African American races. !he way in which discrimination is displayed among different c"lt"re has changed thro"gho"t the years. 'any lawma&ers and politicians have fo"ght to ma&e laws for it to be harder for immigrants to be able to become citi(ens. Discrimination is e)hibited thro"gho"t society in places s"ch as grocery stores% school% ch"rches% and places of wor&. D"ring the time of the civil rights movement racial discrimination wasn7t only displayed verbally% b"t it was also display with physical force. 'any times people where beaten% spit "pon% shoved% and hosed down beca"se of the color of their s&in. ne of the main acts of racial discrimination was the 8reensboro sit in. ,n 9;< at the 1oolworth 1oolworth department store fo"r African American college st"dents ca"sed an "proar as they sat at the co"nter to be waited on. !he big problem was that the st"dents ref"sed to leave "ntil they where served as their white co"nter co "nter parts had been served. As they began to ma&e the people in the rest"rantes mad they began to get spat on and condiments sprayed4 d"mped on them as they ref"sed to to leave. !hese acts of racial discrimination persisted persisted for many years.

!he ways in which discrimination is interpreted has not changed m"ch over the last seventy/five years. D"ring the 9=<7s reperc"ssions of President #ran&lin D. Roosevelts >ew Deal were ta&ing place. D"ring the beginning of the 9=AACP leader @lbert 1illiam% he was lynched beca"se he organi(ed a voting rights drive. !he lynching of @lbert 1illiam happened d"e to one of the whites in his comm"nity becoming o"traged at him wanting e*"al voting rights as his white co"nterparts. !he second e)ample of discrimination d"ring this time period is President #ran&lin D. Roosevelt rders ,nternment of Japanese Americans. Americans. President Roosevelt p"t Japanese American7s in these internement camps beca"se he tho"ght that they co"ld potentially be spies d"e to the fact that they were Japanese and we $"st got bombs by Japanese people. 'any acts of racial discrimination have happened within the present day one of them being the !rayvon 'artin case. ,n the winter of <9 seventeen year old !rayvon 'artin was shot by neighborhood watch g"ard 8eorge immerman. !rayvon !rayvon martin was shot d"e to the fact that +he loo&ed li&e a s"spicio"s African African American American male. ther acts of racial discrimination incl"de that of the 499 attac&s on the twin towers. !he

attac&s on the twin towers were made by ,ranian people who were apart of the terrorist gro"p Al E"aeda. #or a long period of time time after the many people of middle middle eastern decent living in America were discriminated against d"e to the fact that people believed they were terrorist. !hese act of racial discrimination goes to show that within the seventy/five years racial discrimination has had little to no changes.
Is racial discrimination interpreted and displayed differently among different cultures? Racial discrimination can be interpreted in different ways. Racial discrimination is
presented in many p"blic arenas where it sho"ld not be s"ch as: school% places of employment% ch"rches% and stores. 5ased off o ff of primary research individ"als believe that discrimination is interpreted differently among different races and c"lt"res. ne e)ample given thro"gh research incl"des +white people have li&e red nec&s and blac& people have hood rats this e)ample refers to people of either decent who are typically from the more "rban parts of town and "s"ally are not financially stable. 1hen many c"lt"re4 race e)emplify discrimination towards one another they hinder themselves as a whole and to where there is no room for advancement.
Conclusion
Racial discrimination is an on going problem that can end one generation at a time. Racial discrimination has remained an important issue throughout society and throughout American history.
