The system of levels of folding is more as a guide line, an approximate approach just to orient o rient you and mostly depends of your skills in paper folding. If you are a novice, even the simple level can be challenging for you. y ou. And if you are already a connoisseur even a complex model can be simple for you.
Organize your visiting, credit, membership cards in an original and elegant origami way and also watch everyone smile as you pull your Elegant Card Holder out! Use a rectangle of paper, Letter (8 ½ x 11 inches) or A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) in size. It will be perfect for storing standard cards, measuring 3.5 x 2 inches (9 x 5 cm). The finished model will be measuring about 4 x 2.5 inches (11 x 6 cm). If using two-color paper, begin with the colored side down.
1 Start with a rectangle in the portrait position (vertical page orientation). Valley fold it in half from bottom to top. Press the paper flat and unfold it.
Valley fold the top and bottom edges over to meet the middle foldline. Press them flat and unfold them. 2

4 Valley fold the leftand right-hand edges over to meet the middle fold-mark and the top and bottom edges. Press them flat and unfold them.
5 Valley fold the left- and right-hand edges over to meet the fold-lines made in the previous step. Press the folds flat and unfold them.

First, working with one corner fold it along the adjacent fold-line, projecting the diagonal as shown, press it flat and unfold it. Then, repeat the same for 3 remaining corners.
7 Valley fold the top edge over to meet the intersections of the side edges and the fold-lines made in the previous step. Press the paper completely flat. Then, repeat the same for bottom edge.

It could be great for travel, as you can add there also tickets, luggage-tags and so on. Just calculate the detentions of the initial size of a rectangle basing on the detentions of the object you desire to be kept in the holder. Choose paper wisely, bearing in mind that weight of paper and the desired size of the finished model should be balanced. So paper shouldn’t be thin or too thick and need to be flexible enough. Experiment with different kind of paper from kraft paper to fancy Chiyogami paper that could be decorative, and sometimes recycling materials as a city map, a poster or a folded flyer may work surprisingly well either. You may fold an elegant holder, which will be storing squares or square objects. You just need to take an appropriate rectangle of paper to start with and follow the diagrams of folding of the base model of Elegant Card holder. Calculation of paper size: To fit a square object with a side, measuring “A” and keep a certain free space in the holder, use a rectangle of paper, 1:2 in proportion, with the short side 2.5 x A and the long side 5 x A, as pictured. For instance: For keeping 4-inch (10 cm) squares in the holder, take the initial rectangle of paper, measuring 10x20 inch (25x50cm). The finished holder will be measuring about 5 x 4.5 inches (12.5 x 12 cm).

To To fit CDs exactly, without free space at sides, use a rectangle of paper, 1:2 in proportion, with the short side 2.1 x A and the long side 4.2 x A, where “A” is a diameter of a CD. This model was designed exclusively to be folded from the American standard copy paper, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches (21.6 x 27.9 cm) in size. The finished model will be measuring about 3.5 x 2.5 inches (9 x 6.5 cm). However there is a possibility to fold this model to the European standard copy paper of A4 size, so in this case trim an A4 sheet to be a rectangle, 21 x 27 cm in size and use it to fold. You will get practically the same design with a very small change in proportions. The finished model will be measuring about 9.2 x 5.7 cm. If using two-color paper, begin with colored side down. Place the rectangle in vertical orientation. Valley fold the top edge over to 1 meet the left-hand edge. Do not press it completely flat, but press down on it, at the left side, as shown by the yellow circle in the next step. Be patient and do precise folding as much as possible. 2

However there is a possibility to fold this model using the European standard copy paper of A4 size, so in this case trim an A4 sheet to be a rectangle, 21 x 27 cm in size and use it to fold. You will get practically the same design but with a bit smaller size of the heart. The finished model will be measuring about 9.2 x 5.7 cm. If using two-color paper, begin with colored side down. Organize your visiting cards in a cute origami way. This clever card holder will help you to do that and even more - it friendly allows your ID card or transit pass be displayed in a special window. Unlike many other designs of origami card holder, this model folds from a square with quite a rational r ational use of every bit of paper. The holder is featuring a slot for cards with one ID window inside. For storing standard cards, measuring 3.5 x 2 inches (9 x 5 cm), use an 8-inch (20 cm) square of paper. The finished model will be measuring about 4 x 2.5 inches (10 x 6 cm). If using two-color paper, begin with the colored side down.
1 Valley fold the square in half from side to side. Do not press the paper completely flat, but press down on it just a litt little, le, at the bott bottom om and top edge edges, s, thereby making the small fold-marks, as shown. Then, unfold it.

This design of a checkbook case contains a useful pen holder to keep your pen handy. As the simple checkbook cover, it also works well with both regular and side entry type checks and has two internal compartments and two external pockets for currency or receipts or for duplicate checks. For the standard dimensions of checkbook, use about 21-inch (53 cm) square of paper, but no less than 20-inch (51 cm). In this case the finished checkbook case will measure about 3.5 x 7 inches (17.5 x 8.5 cm) closed. The paper shouldn’t be thin or too thick and need to be flexible enough. For instance, 50lb standard weight kraft paper works well. Anyway use paper no thinner than usual copy paper. Experiment with different kind of paper, sometimes recycling materials as a city map, a poster or a folded flyer may work surprisingly well. Keep your checks and check register in this cool all-paper checkbook cover, and watch everyone smile as you pull it out! If using two-color paper paper,, begin with colored side down. 1
