El CMN -Comité MERCOSUR de Normalizacióntiene por objeto promover y adoptar las acciones para la armonización y la elaboración de las Normas en el ámbito del Mercado Común del Sur MERCOSUR, y está integrado por los Organismos Nacionales de Normalización de los países miembros.
O CMN -Comitê MERCOSUL de Normalização- tem por objetivo promover e adotar as ações para a harmonização e a elaboração das Normas no âmbito do Mercado Comum do Sul - MERCOSUL, e é integrado pelos Organismos Nacionais de Normalização dos países membros.

SÍNTESIS DE LAS ETAPAS DE ESTUDIO DE LA NORMA MERCOSUR NM 02:00-597
El texto base del Proyecto de Norma MERCOSUR NM 02:00-597 fue elaborado por Argentina en base a la norma NM-COPANT 1597 y tratada por el Grupo de Trabajo "Terminología, definición y clasificación de aceros" del Comité Sectorial MERCOSUR de Siderurgia (CSM 02) en la 6a. Reunión realizada del 20 al 23 de d e noviembre de 1995, en la ciudad de Belo Horizonte, Brasil en la cual se aprobó como Proyecto de Norma MERCOSUR para su envío a votación. Enviado a votación el 27.5.96 por el plazo previsto en esta etapa (90 días), se recibieron votos de aprobación, sin modificaciones de los Organismos de Normalización de Argentina y Paraguay, voto de abstención de Uruguay y voto de desaprobación de Brasil. Se consideró nuevamente en la 8a. Reunión realizada del 18 al 20 de noviembre de 1996, en la ciudad de Asunción, Paraguay, en la cual se aprobó como Proyecto de Norma MERCOSUR para su envío a votación. Enviado a votación el 12.3.97 por el plazo previsto en esta etapa (90 días), se solicitó una prórroga de 45 días, vencida dicha prórroga se recibieron votos de aprobación, sin modificaciones de los Organismos de Normalización de Argentina, Brasil y Paraguay y voto de abstención a bstención de Uruguay. En noviembre de 1997 el Proyecto fue formalmente enviado al Comité MERCOSUR de Normalización para su aprobación como Norma MERCOSUR, conforme a lo establecido en el "Procedimiento para el estudio de Normas Técnicas MERCOSUR".

2.1 ciclo térmico: Historia o programa térmico en función del calentamiento, tiempo, permanencia y enfriamiento cumplido por un acero, en el cual los estados estructurales inicial y final son a la temperatura ambiente (figura 1).

2.2 tratamiento térmico: Operación o conjunto de operaciones (en el caso de tratamiento complejo) por medio de las cuales se somete al acero, en estado sólido, a uno o varios ciclos térmicos (figura 2). El medio en el que se colocan las piezas en el transcurso de estas operaciones puede modificar más o menos profundamente, la composición química de las capas superficiales de la pieza (tratamientos termoquímicos).
