NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORTS ON THE SCHOOLBASED FIRE DRILL
I.
INTRODUCTION AN AND DR DRILL SCENARIO
In line with the campaign campaign to be safe of the National National Disaster Disaster Risk Reduc educti tion on and and Mana Manage geme ment nt Coun Counci cill or NDRR NDRRMC MC empo empowe werred by the the Department of Education, Sta !nastacia Elementary School conducted its "uarterly earth"uake drill in the school campus last March #, $%&' at e(actly ) o*clock in the morning morning Mr Mr +oseph Medalla, a representatie representatie of NDRRMC and other -re olunteers led the actiity with all the teachers and their respectie respectie classes .he drill was carried carried out simultaneously simultaneously and smoothly smoothly !ll the students occupied occupied their designated areas areas based on the school eacuation plan /efore the conduct of the earth"uake earth"uake drill, Mr Mr Medalla instructed all the pupils pupils and teachers teachers of what what to do in case -re -re occurs occurs 0n March March #, during the morning break, a siren sound blurted for one minute and it motiated eeryone to be alert and awake awake .hey were grouped grouped according to their respectie respectie grade leels In addition, all the adisers counted their students to make sure that they are safe 0n the other hand, the school head discussed another measure to be safe by accomplishing the 1amily 2reparedness 3uestionnaires It was succes successfu sfully lly accom accompli plishe shed d by the learn learners ers and their their famili families es with with the proper encouragement encouragement of all the teachers
II. ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED PRIOR TO THE CONDUCT ON FIRE DRILL

/ Classroom discussions and simulation of the do*s and don*ts during an earth"uake or -re 5 C Class demonstrations of repairing the earth"uake surial kit, performing 6duck, coer, and hold* and applying -rst aid treatment5 and D Class orientation on the school eacuation plan and the school*s safe and danger 7ones during an earth"uake and -re III. /ased on the obseration during and after the drill, the following problems were encountered4 ! .hough the pupils were properly oriented, there were still some of them who did not take the drill seriously5 / .here were some pupils who were seen disoriented and weren*t able to go immediately in their assigned "ueues5 and C Some classes went out of their respectie classrooms a bit later after the siren was sounded V. HOW THE SCHOOL ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM
!fter seeing the aforementioned problems, Dr Elena De .orres, Mr +oseph Medalla and other -re -ghters gae a post drill actiity to reorient the pupils with the proper way of behaing during the drill .hey also gae some warnings and reminders in case the real scenario happens
VI. RECOMMENDATIONS
/ased on the oerall performance of the School*s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee, the following recommendations are hereby gien4 ! Some possible falling debris like rusty roofs and dilapidated ceilings in some buildings of the school must be repaired5 / Some classrooms must remoe their cupboards or booksheles that are placed aboe the pupils desk5 C Ceiling fans and :uorescent lamps must be inspected if they are still heaily screwed or intact5 and D !ll classrooms must hae a poster regarding Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and must be placed in a conspicuous area
