In line with the campaign of the Department of Education (DepEd) in equipping the school children with the nowledge, proper attitude and sills on what to do in case of a natural and man!made disasters lie earthquae and "re, Anas Elementary #chool conducted its quarterly earthquae and "re drill drill in the school school campus campus last $une $une %&, %' at e*actl e*actly y + ocloc ocloc in the morning for earthquae drills- Dr- .afael /- .icarte $r-, the school head, led the acti0ity acti0ity with the teacher teachers s and their respecti respecti0e 0e classesclasses- 1he drill was carri carried ed out simulta simultaneo neousl usly y and smoothly smoothly- All grade le0els le0els occupi occupied ed the designated area for them based on the school e0acuation plan/efore /efore the conduct conduct of the earthqua earthquae e and "re drill, drill, #ir .onnie 22allado alladore res s instru instructe cted d all the pupils pupils and teacher teachers s and e0en parent parents s in attendance after the 3ag ceremony e0ery Monday of what to do in case of a disaster lie lie an earthquae- 4n $une %& and $uly % during the morning morning brea a loud sound of bell blurted for one minute as a signal that an earthquae is curre currentl ntly y happen happening ing-- E0eryb E0erybody ody in their their respe respecti cti0e 0e classe classes s duce duced d and co0er co0ered ed themsel0 themsel0es es under their their armch armchair airs s and tablestables- After fter that, the teachers led their ad0isory classes in heading to the designated e0acuation area located in front of the 5rincipals 46ce /uilding 1hey were grouped together according to the class where they belong 1hen, all classroom teachers did a headcount to mae sure sure that all pupils are accounted accounted forfor- MrMr- .onnie 22- 2alldaores alldaores $r, the school D..MC coordinator coordinator anno announ unce ced d the the ter termina minati tion on of the the dril drilllIn su summ mmar ary, y, the the dril drilll was was successfully implemented and nobody was in7ured because the routines were systematic and e0erybody was cooperati0e during the acti0ity-

#ome of the acti0ities held prior to the conduct of the quarterly earthquae and "re drill are as follows8 A- Constant reminders gi0en by the school principal on the safety precautions and measures in case of disasters lie earthquaes and "re9 /- Classroom discussions and simulation of the dos and donts during an earthquae or "re 9 C- Class demonstrations of repairing the earthquae sur0i0al it, performing :duc, co0er, and hold and applying "rst aid treatment under the super0ision of Mrs- .osanna $ade, #$E# representati0e for the 5hilippine .ed Cross9 and D- Class orientation on the school e0acuation plan and the schools safe and danger ;ones during an earthquae-

V. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
/ased on the obser0ation during and after the drill, the following problems were encountered8 A- 1hough the pupils were properly oriented, there were still some of them who did not tae the drill seriously9 /- 1here were some pupils who were seen disoriented and werent able to go immediately in their assigned queues9 and C- #ome classes went out of their respecti0e classrooms a bit later after the siren was sounded
VI. HOW THE SCHOOL ADDRESS THE PROBLEM
After seeing the aforementioned problems, #ir .afael /- .icarte $r, together with Mr- .onnie 2- 2alladores $r, #chools Disaster .is .eduction and Management Committee, ga0e a post drill acti0ity to reorient the pupils on their beha0ior during the drill- 1hey also ga0e some warnings and
reminders with regard to panicing and a0oiding stampede in case that the real scenario happens-
VII. RECOMMENDATIONS
/ased on the o0erall performance of the #chools Disaster .is .eduction and Management Committee, the following recommendations are hereby gi0en8 A- #ome possible falling debris lie rusty roofs and dilapidated ceilings in some buildings of the school must be repaired9 /- #ome classrooms must remo0e their cupboards or booshel0es that are placed abo0e the pupils des9 C- Ceiling fans and 3uorescent lamps must be inspected if they are still hea0ily screwed or intact9 and D- All classrooms must ha0e a poster regarding Disaster .is .eduction and Management and must be placed in a conspicuous area-
