INTRODUCTION Internship or on the job training is one way by which we students are given an opportunity to apply the theories and computations that we have learned from school. It also helps us to obtain applicable knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part as part of the curriculum. For us students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunity to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipments, and documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for us student trainee to learn more about our chosen field and practice what we have learn from school. On the other hand, a valuable OJT program also profits the companies who accept trainees. First, OJT or intern provides extra manpower for a less significant labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will cooperate. Accepting on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to the trainees but also to the companies that provide opportunities for this type of learning. There is wisdom in the front lines. Such training can be investment that we will be valuable to the company later on. This is also why we trainees should take our internship seriously as it can become a powerful tool and possibly even a source of recommendation when they take that big lift from being student to career professionals.

COMPANY HISTORY
The Batanes State College started as the Batanes School of Arts and Trades, a vocational school established in 1967 by virtue of R.A. No. 4009. It was opened on August 7, 1967 with an initial appropriation of Php 250, 000.00. Permanent buildings were constructed out of the capital outlay duly appropriated by the national government. Between 1969 – 1971, the school became a Manpower Training Center under President Marcos’ Accelerated program. In 1981, the school was accredited to offer post-secondary trade technical course. Graduates of this course were confirmed with the title of Associate in Industrial Technology. The school opened the BSAT Annex Uyugan in 1982. On August 22, 2000, the annex school was separated from the mother school and was converted to General Comprehensive High School by virtue of R.A. No. 8854. On March 1, 1995, the school was converted to Batanes Polytechnic College by virtue of R.A. 7921. The college indefinitely closed the non-ladderized courses and offered degree courses. On June 11, 2001, the college was granted full authority by the Regional TESDA Office under TVET Program to offer the Two Year Computer Programming Course. On August 7, 2004, Republic Act No. 9314 converted the school into Batanes State College which offers the following with the following mandate:
COLLEGE MANDATE
The college shall primarily “provide collegiate occupational, technological and professional training in the fields of fishery, agriculture, environmental sciences and other related field of study. It shall provide special instruction for special purposes, promote research and extension services in the various disciplines and areas of specialization and provide leadership in its area of specialization”.

CLASSROOM LEARNING/THEORIES USED
When having my OJT at Batanes State College, there are lots of theories which I applied during the whole duration of my internship. Some of these theories were discovered by my own self, more of which are from my classroom learning. By using these theories, I was able to perform my duties and responsibilities as an OJT. The theories used were the following: I was able to apply my knowledge in using different MS Office Applications. We all know that the Registrar’s Office is one of the busiest office in an institution, which includes lots of paper works, encoding, preparing TOR and etc. that people who are computer literate are in a great need to perform such duties. I can say that I am qualified enough to handle such kind of situation. Through the theories which I have learned, I can perform different tasks using different MS Office Applications. I was able to apply my learnings on how to use a printer in different purposes such as scanning a document, photocopying, and in printing which are very essential or important to an individual to know or to perform when he/she is working in an environment where paper transactions are involved. I was able to troubleshoot a printer when an error “One of the ink cartridges is damaged or needs to be replace: ink color” message appear. There are some circumstances that in the Registrar’s Office, when we are printing a document, there are tendencies of having a paper jam since we are using quality bond papers. When a paper jam occurs and after removing the paper, there is a error message appears and by applying theories about troubleshooting such kind of error, we can easily determine solutions to fix the problem. Lastly, I was able to apply my professionalism which I learn from the subject Professional Ethics taught to us by Mr. Roderick Y. Abad. Because of this, I was able to observe courtesy, show respect and master my communication skills when having transactions to different employees of this institution.
7
ISSUES AND CONCERN ABOUT THE COMPANY
There are some issues or concerns which I have observe when I had my OJT at the Registrar’s Office, issues that are not huge enough and can be solved thru proper trainings and seminars that the institution may offer to them in order to improve their skills and learn new things that they may use in their daily transaction. First of this, using MS Word and Excel are limited that whenever they encounter a problem, they don’t know how to fix or troubleshoot since they lack trainings or workshop. lastly, I also observed that Mrs. Balles was not yet oriented on how to use a scanner, because there’s a time that she requested me to scan a document, she said that “madali lang pala mag scan”, and I taught her the process/steps on how to scan.
8
RECOMMENDATION
The things that I can recommend about the company is that the employees of the Registrar’s office must undergo trainings and seminar in order to improve their knowledge and skills, add new learning about the computers that may affect their daily work activities. Second, I recommend that they must employ an employee which is computer literate enough in order to perform activities related to computer works and knows how to perform basic troubleshooting in case problems exist.
9
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE In sum, the whole OJT experience wasn’t bad as I thought it would be. In fact, the 456 hours was a breeze except for those days when I had a hard time waking up early, when I need to wait for a long period of time when someone has already taking a bath in our small comfort room. Going to school and seeing some friendly faces, friends, and relativesthat helped a great deal. Having to do an OJT with friendly employees made a whole lot easier for me. It was also nice to have to go to school with my “bro” (and having snacks sometimes at canteen). It was also a great experience for me to have an OJT here in BSC Registrar’s Office because it gives me new learning and experiences that I never thought I could experience in my college life. This experience teach me on how to become a productive person, productive in the sense that I can perform activities or works related to computer and perform other activities like scanning, photocopying, and basic trouble shooting which gives me new experiences that I can apply in real life situations. Other experience which I cannot forget in my OJT is that I learn how to prepare a TOR which enables me to apply my knowledge and skills in working with MS Excel application. Second, I also learn on how to prepare a Purchase Request, on how to follow up and process it, which also gives me an experience where I can practice and improve the way how I interact and communicate with other people. Lastly, this On the Job Training program provides me the opportunity on how to work with a real life situation wherein I need to provide my expertise and skills in order for me to perform duties and responsibilities that gives quality of work.

In the first day of my OJT, Mr. Castillo assigned me as an Internet Café Attendant at the second floor, ITE Hallway beside ITE department faculty where I render different services such as printing, computer rentals, photo editing, encoding and etc., the same with the following day. The following days was not easy to me since I need to perform activities that involves money in the sense that every mistakes, there is a waste of resources such as bond paper and PVC’s.

I was able to increase my experience in creating Transcript of Records.
Helped Mrs. Castillo in I was able to apply refilling the ink of the my knowledge in printer in her office refilling an ink in a printer. In this day, I assisted Mrs. Lilia Gabotero in preparing the transcript of records of students who are going to SCUAA because Mr. Maggay was rushing us to finish it before Friday because it was the day they were going to Tuguegarao for the competition. Hours later, after I finished preparing some of the TORs, Mrs. Castillo arrived in the registrar’s office and ask if she can borrow me for a couple of minutes because she don’t know how to refill an ink to her printer, so I come with her into her office and start to refill the cartridges. At first, it was easy for me to refill the cartridges but when I returned them to their specific position, the printer does not recognized any of the cartridges so I apply my knowledge on how to troubleshoot a printer and it took time for me to fix it, but luckily, I was able to fix it with all the inks scattered on my hands.

Thursday morning, the day after yesterday☻, is another day of my OJT, another day of experiences. Mrs. Gabotero asked me if it is okay for me to assess her in her performance as an employee of this institution, so without any ado, I agreed and started to answer the assessment form. After that, Mrs. Cielo arrived at the registrar’s office and ask me if I could help her in her problem about copying a document from the internet and pasting it to MS Word, Ma’m Cielo said that when she highlighted the words in the document, and she open the MS Word application the text she highlighted does not appear, so I said that she must copy it first by simply pressing ctrl+c and pasting it to the MS Word by simply pressing ctrl+c, after she performed it, she was filled with joy because she now knows how to do it with her own.

I decided to go back and told Mrs. Balles that nobody is around

at her house, but instead, I go again to Mrs. Castillo’s house and I heard someone watching a television and I started shouting “Dyus” and fortunately, there’s a woman who came outside and told me that Mrs. Castillo was already in the airport, in my fear that I wasn’t able to catch up her, I drive the bicycle as fast I could to arrive in the airport before the time departure which was 9 am I think, so I directly goes to the departure area looking for Mrs. Castillo but I can’t see her, so I asked the guard and told me that she is in the room which I don’t know what is the name but the important thing is that I was able to give the envelop to her and say goodbye for I have lots ofwork to do at the registrar’s office. When I arrived back to the office, I told Mrs. Balles that Mrs. Castillo was already in the airport but still I manage to give the report to her. In the afternoon, I was tasked to prepare a purchase request of an ink for our printer.

process the Purchase Request and Annual Procurement Plan
Preparing a TOR is not new to me, when I knew that we are going to prepare the transcripts of HM students, I was challenged because it will test my speed in encoding and on how I follow instructions. Another challenge to me is on how to process a purchase request, processing a purchase request was not been so easy for me since I have to deal with different persons thus I need to apply my communication skills properly and correctly.

After 3 days of encoding / preparing the TOR, it now time to print it all and submit it to Mrs. Gabotero for checking, sometimes I prepare TOR that has no mistakes or correction that makes me feel that I am a reliable person, but there are times that I prepare TOR that has a correction like in the Name of Parents, the date they graduated, and sometimes the school, but just like what they have said, “Nobody is perfect”.
