With 331kW, its 4.7-litre V8 engine provides more power (450 hp instead of 440) vs the GranTurismo S, while its 510Nm torque result in a further 20Nm improvement. This contributes to slash the 0-100km/h sprint time, which the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale covers in just 4.6 seconds, and stretches the top speed to 301 km/h.

Vehicle overview
The GranTurismo MC Stradale’s race-bred heritage is highlighted by a 110kg weight reduction vs. the GranTurismo S, down to 1770kg. It mirrors the advantages that Maserati has in racing by retaining the optimal 48 : 52 weight distribution to ensure handling balance and even tyre ty re wear. It uses advanced electronics to slash gear-shift times from the upgraded MC Race Shift electro-actuated Transaxle gearbox gearbox to just 60 milliseconds. The GranTurismo MC Stradale is also the first Maserati in history to have a dedicated Race driving mode to add to its upgraded Automatic and Sport modes in a simplified dash dash layout layout.. It produc produces es more more aerody aerodyna namic mic downfo downforce rce withou withoutt produ producin cing g more more aerodynamic drag, it produces more power without using more fuel and it is more agile without sacrificing the GranTurismo S’s S’s highly praised ride quality.

To reinforce just how at home the GranTurismo MC Stradale will feel for race-style driving, the pedals are now drilled aluminium as standard. s tandard. While the rear seats have been removed, the style has not. The rear underdoor is trimmed in luxurious carpet, with the Maserati Trident stitched onto an Alcantara pad in the centre of the rear bulkhead. Lighter than leather, leather, Alcantara is largely used to trim the centre console, the armrest lid, the door armrests and handles and the curve c urve above the instrument cluster.

The seats combine a carbon-fibre shell with high-tech padding and materials and even have the Trident logo stitched into the headrests in the same colour of the interior stitching. They offer manual adjustment to move the base backwards and forwards and to move the backrest angle. They also offer three different height options, adjustable on demand.
With its sportier philosophy, the luxury hints of chrome and alloy have been removed from the GranTurismo MC Stradale in favour of a black look to reflect race-car interiors. This This extend extends, s, even, even, to the instru instrumen mentt cluste clusterr, where where the tradit tradition ional al Masera Maserati ti blue blue background colour has given way to black, with an entirely new typeface for the speedo and tacho dials. MC Sport Line options The MC Sport Line carbon fibre parts are also available to customise the interior and the exterior of the GranTurismo MC Stradale together with the carbon fibre interior finishes, a carbon fibre gearshift paddle kit and other components in the same material.

Vehicle overview
The GranTurismo MC Stradale can also be stressed by the specific, custom-developed livery, with a Maserati Trident skewed at 45 degrees on the roof and the MC Stradale logo on both sides of the t he car. The red and grey streaks of the MC signature underline the achievements of the aerodynamics engineers: the colour enters the brake inlet ducts and exits the vent in the front quarter panel before blending into the door.
Options: Roll bar upon request with four-point racing r acing harness To reflect its more-heightened focus, the GranTurismo MC Stradale also has the option of a roll cage, which bolts in to the car. The GranT ranTuri urismo smo MC Strada tradale le in the Masera serati ti mode model range range
The push for the GranTurismo MC Stradale came from existing GranTurismo and GranTurismo S customers who wanted a car that looked and felt like the GT4 and Trofeo race cars, but was road legal and just as comfortable as their existing models. With the removal of the rear seats, the GranTurismo MC Stradale will be the only twoseat Maserati in the current line-up. It has been designed to give a deeply engaging, racing-car driving experience, regardless of what kind of road its drivers are on. To achieve that and still maintain Maserati’s traditional values, it had to look, sound and feel like a racing car without sacrificing sacrifici ng its road comfort.

Engine
1. Engin e
The GranTurismo MC Stradale’s engine is a spin-off of the F136 YE and delivers 331kW at 7000 RPM, which is a 10 horsepower improvement vs. the GranTurismo GranTurismo S. There is also more torque, with a 20Nm jump from the GranTurismo’s strong 490Nm to 510Nm at 4750rpm, with a thicker torque curve at lower RPM. Most of the improvements are the result of the “Low Friction Program”, which involved a new design of the oil sump fluid dynamics and DLC ( Diamond-Like Coating) of the hydraulic tappets and the camshaft lobes. The engine has thus gained in power and consumption efficiency and consequently produces lower emissions.

Transmission
Transmission To best exploit the performance of the new 450 HP V8 4.7 engine, the GranTurismo MC Stradale is equipped with an robotized gearbox, like the recent Maserati models with a more racing-like setup. This technology is part of the Maserati DNA and springs from the close ties the Trident has with the world of competition. Moreover, compared to the earlier versions, the system has been implemented with the RACE gearshift function coupled to the new “Superfast shift 2” (CV2 – Cambio Cambio Veloce eloce 2) control system that further reduces the gearshift time during high-performance driving.
From a technical point of view, the robotized gearbox is an electrically-hydraulically contro controlle lled, d, mechan mechanica icall transm transmiss ission ion with with a dry do doubl uble-p e-plat late e clutch clutch and 6-spe 6-speed ed gearbox (plus reverse) with triple-cone synchronizers on the 1st and 2nd gear, and doub do uble le-c -con one e on the the othe others rs.. The 6-speed gearbox comes in combination with a double-plate clutch, a solution deriving from the world of competitions and particularly suitable for more racing-style vehicles. vehicles. The reduced reduced dimensions dimensions of the clutch assembly (215 mm Ø) and the smalldiameter flywheel (240 mm Ø) significantly contain the weight of the assembly with evident reduction of the total engine inertia compared to a single-plate system. This type of setting allows more easily reaching the maximum engine RPM, faster gearbox response, faster gearshifting and, last but not least, better driving dynamics.

The gearbox strategy requires that the vehicle always be started in automatic mode. In this operating mode, the gearshifts are completely automatic based on a gearshift map programmed in the Robotized Gearbox Node (NCR). The gearshift strategy has been defined to get the best compromise between driving comfort, contained consumptions and vehicle performance. In this mode, the gear engaged is shown on the display together with the indication “AUTO”. Note: When driving in automatic mode, gearshifting can still be manually controlled using the paddles on the steering wheel. When the driver uses the manual controls, the gearbox temporarily goes back to Manual mode; during this interval, the indication “AUTO” on the display flashes for about 5 seconds, after which the system goes back to Automatic mode.
“ Auto Auto easy sy--exit mode mode” stra strategy tegy
Every time the engine is started, the gearbox system is set to AUTO mode. If the engine is turned off with either either SPORT or RACE mode set, the next time the engine is started, the “Auto easy-exit mode” strategy activates AUTO mode. This condition is indicated by the word “AUTO” flashing on the display. This strategy allows the driver to go back to SPORT mode simply by first shifting gears manually (using the UP and DOWN paddles). If the driver does not shift gears after two minutes of driving, the system automatically activates activates AUTO AUTO mode.

SPOR SPORT T mode
In SPORT mode, the gearbox control system follows a gearshift control strategy more focused on performance, with much shorter changing times between one gear and the next in relation to RPM and the accelerator pedal position. In SPORT mode, the exhaust pneumatic valves are open. RACE mode
Gearshifting in RACE mode is the most recent innovation of the robotized gearbox system. This mode exploits the elastic energy of the transmission devices and results in very fast gearshift gearshift times and absolutely absolutely outstanding outstanding performa performance. nce. The result is a gearshift time which drops to 60 ms (measured as acceleration dip), a value that ensures the best sports handling and unrivalled driving emotions.

In RACE mode, the GranTurismo MC Stradale can change gear in just 60 milliseconds (0.06 seconds) thanks to a precise control and gear selection optimisation. The MCRace gearshift is available only if specific conditions are met: a temperature t emperature suitable for all the vehicle systems has been reached and the accelerator pedal is at least 65% depressed. When these conditions occur, MC-Race fast gearshift is activated, which is indicated on the display with the red “MC-R” warning light.

Carbonceramic discs have a carbon fibre structure which is properly directed and subjected to heavy stress inside the production mould, so that the discs produced are equi eq uipp pped ed with with chan channe nels ls for for he heat at disp disper ersi sion on.. Su Subs bseq eque uent ntly ly,, they they un unde derg rgo o a carbonisation process in a kiln at approximately 1000 C in the presence of nitrogen and then to further processes, such as radial drilling of the braking surface. Compared to the discs used in Formula One vehicles, the road vehicle discs are further processed by dipping them in a silicon bath, which makes them efficient also at low temperatures. The application of this new braking system has contributed to improving all the braking performance parameters (enhanced deceleration/pedal load ratio, braking distances, fading resistance) and to considerably reducing unsprung weights. °
Finally, the CCM system provides a weight reduction of approx. 50% vs. cast iron discs, because of the lower density of the ceramic material, and improves the vehicle overall performance, achieving friction coefficients of approx. 0.36 vs. 0.28 of cast iron systems. systems. Being Being unsprung unsprung weights, weights, they enhance the vehicle vehicle dynamics dynamics and improve driving comfort. Compared to conventional systems, response times are improved and performance levels are maintained in the event of heavy-duty use. Among the most evident effects effects is the elimination of the fading effect, which affects the control feeling perceived on the pedal travel and load. In addition, the carboceramic discs have a practically unlimited life in normal conditions of use, with evident advantages in terms of costs. In general, the new braking systems must be run in and that is why they only reach an optimal braking action after two or three hundred kilometres. The slightly reduced braking action must be set off by increased pressure on the brake pedal.

The GranTurismo MC Stradale rides on a new, custom-developed tyre from the Italian tyre maker Pirelli – the same company that developed and supplies the tyres for the Trofeo GranTurismo MC. Designed to be at home both on the road and on the race track, the 20-inch Pirelli PZero Corsa tyres are slightly wider than the standard tyres on the GranTurismo S and offer even more grip.

Developed in conjunction with Maserati’s test engineers and based on the experience from the Trofeo championship, the new PZero Corsa tyres have been designed to move the handling-comfort balance of the GranTurismo S’s tyres further towards pure handling. While the GranTurismo S already had good track performance, the new tyres have been developed to maximize grip in a very short time and, in concert with a more precise "feedback" feeling for the driver, to maintain that grip for as many laps as possible, thanks to rubber compounds derived from Pirelli’s racing experience. The rear tyres have an asymmetric pattern with large tread blocks on the outside shoulder for high lateral grip.

Masera serati ti Multi Media System ystem
The infotainment system onboard the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale derives from the new IT platform developed by Magneti Marelli. A 7" high-resolution TFT colour display situated in the centre of the dashboard allows the user to view the CD player, the GPS navigation system (if the cartography is avai availa labl ble) e),, the the radi radio o an and d the the on onbo boar ard d comp comput uter er (trav (travel el info inform rmat atio ion n an and d vehi vehicl cle e settings). System performance has further been improved by using a 30GB automotive hard disk on which the entire cartography can be uploaded and which also offers a jukebox function instead of the CD player. player. On the one hand, the hard disk drive considerably reduces the trip calculation times and, on the other hand, allows storing up to 180 hours of music that can be copied directly from Audio CDs or downloaded to MP3 files through the USB port situated in the passenger-side glove compartment. The system also allows using your own MP3 reader; in effect, most of the readers currently available on the market can be connected via the USB port so that you can listen to your favourite music while travelling. The GPS navigation system with its large colour display and 3D graphic processor allows navigating with a very fetching perspective view. The system is easy and intuitive to use thanks to the controls in the centre of the dashboard, and the most frequently used functions are accessible in full safety by means of the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel. Again from the safety point of view, the audio system, the navigation system and the telephone (if present) can be activated by means of a voice control system. sys tem. The “Text to Speech" synthesizing system (artificial reproduction of the human voice) further contributes to the driver’s safety as he or she can listen to SMS messages and TMC traffic information without being distracted by looking at the display. The Multi Multi Med Media ia System System is equ equipp ipped ed with with Blueto Bluetooth oth techno technolog logy y, for mob mobile ile ph phone one connection connection.. This allows the user to make and receive calls through through the speakers speakers and manage the contact list through the Multi Media System.

The double low-frequency sources are designed to work with the complete system and faithfully reproduce music in a wide frequency spectrum. Conventional approaches to multiple bass sources may prove to be problematic. If the speaker is situated too close to the listener, the sound may be deafening; if it is too far away, the sound may be too weak. Improper positioning may cause some frequencies to distort, virtually killing the sound instead of boosting it. The dual-zone air-conditioning system maintains the ideal temperature conditions in the vehicle by automatically adjusting the interior temperature and ventilation intensity in relation to the outside temperature, sunlight intensity and air humidity. The fully electronic dashboard allows the driver and the passenger to separately set the temperature from a minimum of 16°C to a maximum of 32°C, while the air flow distribution through the two vents in the centre console ensures an ideal temperature in the rear area as well. The system is also equipped with a demisting sensor: if the window temperature drops to below the dew point causing the window to mist up, the sensor automatically activates to reduce the percentage humidity in the air.
