Capacity rate for the process is the minimum capacity rate of all activities, which in this case is the 10 minute baking activity at 1.2 cookies per minute [12 cookies/10 min]. Therefore the bottleneck rate in this operation lies in baking. capacity rate (cookies/ minute)

How many orders you can fill in a night = 1.2 cookies/minute * 60 minutes * 4 = 288 cookies in 4 hours 288 cookies/12 cookies per order = 24 orders in 4 hours, or one night. 3. HOW MUCH OF YOUR OWN AND YOUR ROOMMATE’S TIME WILL IT TAKE TO FILL EACH ORDER?
Since I am in charge of washing, mixing, and dishing, it will take me 8 minutes per order. My roommate will be in charge of setting the thermostat and putting the cookies in the oven, packaging, and taking payment, which leads to 4 minutes per order. This is under the assumption that baking and cooling time does not directly add to the time we work on the cookies. 4. ANY DISCOUNT FOR TWO-DOZEN ORDERS? WILL IT TAKE YOU ANY LONGER TO FILL A TWODOZEN ORDER THAN A ONE-DOZEN ORDER?
There should be a two dozen order discount because it takes less time to make two dozen in one go to ensure freshness of the cookies, and the washing and mixing capacity can account for a maximum of three dozen at once.

The process time for the second dozen is only 19 additional minutes, which is beneficial as if we were to make two dozen separately for two different orders, we would have to spend a total of 18+26=44 minutes, as opposed to one order of two dozen, which would only take 18+19=37 minutes as it avoids additional time spent on washing and mixing.
5. HOW MANY FOOD PROCESSORS? BAKING TRAYS?
It is stated in the case that my roommate has one food processor, and currently one baking tray. Since the mixing activity is not the bottleneck, it is not necessary to invest in an additional food processor. It would be beneficial to invest in an additional tray, to reduce cleaning and cooling time and immediately begin baking the next batch while we clean the used tray. However ideally we would have 3 trays to account for the 3 dozen cookies per mixing batch. 6. WOULD YOU SUGGEST ANY CHANGE TO THE PRODUCTION PLANS? WOULD ANOTHER OVEN BE HELPFUL?
Another oven would be helpful as baking is currently the bottleneck rate. With two ovens, the bottleneck rate becomes 2.4 cookies/minute, increasing production to 576 cookies/night, or 48 orders/night: a significant increase from the production with a singular oven. Additionally, the act of freezing cookie dough during the day could reduce washing and mixing time while retaining the quality and freshness of the cookie.
