K. P. Muhurat - A Novel Technique in K.P.
-'l(ana/i.,
Preface .1'...anak Bosmia, the talented author of this book, is a tried and experienced KP astrologer and open-minded researcher. He has the
credit of doing systematic and scientific studies and presenting some new rules in the KP astrology and making several correct predictions in the KPEzine and Astrovision e-magazines . .Hased on his years of study, solid experience and application of the
KP principles, he long back felt the need to write an good book on Muhurat in a modem style. This book moves the readers cogently, clearly and step-by-step through the process of calculating the most astrologically auspicious time for a particular occasion or commencement of an activity on the basis of a good longevity and the required significators of the concerned cuspal sublords and running Dasa-BhuktiAntara-Sookshma lords. Through this book both KP lovers and practitioners will gain a thorough understanding of his new concept and confidently learn to select the most favorable time to begin an activity such as swearing in, marriage, purchase or construction of property, starting a new business, joining a new job, applying for Visa, filing a legal case or any other important occasion. 1 hough this book deals with Muhurat, it has also significant principles of choosing the required cuspal sublords and house grouping for around 80 events and activities according to the matters of 1 st to 12th houses, which are useful in prediction by natal or horary chart. The author has thus done a distinct service to the cause of KP and to its proper study and practice. Therefore, I have great pleasure in commending the author and his book. 1 his book is the definite guide in the evolution of the Muhurat method. A must read for any KP learner. Tin Win(TW) USA January II; 2009
Acknowledgments This is my first book that I am publishing. I sincerely hope that it will be useful to everyone practicing K.P. method and who wish to select good Muhurat as per strict KP. principles. This book gave me an opportunity to express and explore my knowledge of KP. 1 thank all those who helped me in writing this book. First of all I thank my friend Shri. Madhu Nair (Pranav Shiva) who constantly goaded me to predict Muhurat as per KP., and after a lot of research and hard work in this area, finally I have made many successful predictions. When I decided to write a book on KP Muhurat, Shri. Tin Win (USA) and Shri. Dr. Rangarajan Krishnamoorthy strongly encouraged me to pursue the hitherto unexplored subject. Both helped me a iot in improving my writing. Without their help 1 would not have been able to complete the book as it is now. 1 am really thankful to them for their unstinted he Ip and encouragement. I am particularly thankful to Dr. Rangarajan, whose software KPAstro"' 1 have used extensively for this research. He even made some enhancements in KPAstro"' specially to help me in this work. I want to thank Shri. Satish Rallabandi for reviewing all the chapters patiently and diligently. Even when he was busy or faced internet problems, he was very prompt and sent back the updated draft the same day. I am also thankful to Mr. Richard Smoot (USA) for giving me permission to use data from his popular Astrodatabank software. Lastly, without the blessing of my parents I would not have been able to complete this book. I will remain grateful to them always. "Jay Shree Krishna"

What is Muhurat?
Generally in our society we start every good work Muhurat and we are quite particular about it.
in
good
In traditional Muhurat there are five main pillars (points to be considered): 1) Tithi (Hindu Date) 2) Vaar (Day) 3) Nakshtra (constellation) 4) Yoga, and 5) Karana. On a special day and time when the above five pillars are beneficial to the work undertaken, we start our good work. In addition to these five pillars, we also check for Lagna, Moon, Sun and Jup, etc. We start certain work only in some special Tithi, and for some work we never select certain Nakshatras. For example, traditionally Pushya Nakshatra is considered very auspicious to start any work but it is never considered for marriage purposes due to the reason that lord Rama was married on pushya Nakshatra day and he never had a peaceful married I ife. At the time of his Rajyabhishek, he was sent to exile for 14 years with his wife. Even at the time of birth of his sons, his wife suffered a lot. When it was time to enjoy life with his wife (after becoming the King), his wife had to undergo Agni-Pariksha.

In Muhurat chart, Astama Chandra is generally avoided. In addition, there are some parihars suggested by our Sages to neutralize the malefic effect of the planets. So according to them, even Astama Chandra can be considered. There are many rules to arrive at a good Vedic Muhurat and many books are available on this subject. In 1996/1997, I started studying Vedic Muhurat in a reputed school of astrology and tried to learn principles of Muhurat. During my learning I found many contradictory rules and never found a Satisfactory answer to my questions. Sometime ago, my friend and very good Vedic astrologer Mr. Madhu Nair of Trivandrum wanted me to predict about Discovery shuttle after it was launched. When I started to analyze Discovery chart, I felt that KP-based Muhurat analysis was very easy and quite accurate. This technique does not have complicated rules or parihars, but works very well. Unfortunately, there is nothing written in KP Readers about Muhurat. After a lot of careful study and experimentation, I framed some basic rules, which I have successfully applied in many real cases. I am going to share my findings and experiences with you through this book.
What is Muhurat Time? An auspicious time to start any event is a Muhurat. The chart for that special moment is MUHURAT CHART. Here it should be clearly understood that WE HAVE TO TAKE THE MOMENT OF STARTING OF THE EVENT, NOT WHEN IT SETS FINISHED.

Chapter: 2 Rules for KP Muhurat
1) Retrograde Planets
There is no place for retrograde planets in Muhurat. I totally agree with Dr. Keshab Ranjan Kar that a retrograde planet is actually not retrograde but it is our Drashti Bhram, so I never consider retrograde planet in my work - Natal, Horay or Muhurat. 2) Role of Node in KP Muhurat
In KP Muhurat, node is very important. When you find node as a sub lord of relevant bhava, analyze node very carefully as per the details given below: A)
If any planet is conjoined with a node, the node first gives the result of conjoined planet, secondly gives result of star lord and lastly that of sub lord.
B)
If a planet is not conjoined with any node, check if any planet aspects the node. Here we have to look only at special aspects, i.e Mars 4, 8, Jup 5, 9 and Sat 3, 10. We do not consider 7th aspect from a planet to node because that planet is conjoined with the other node. In KP Muhurat we have to consider only Hindu rasi to rasi aspect,
K. P. Muhurat
+
3
not degree-to-degree Western aspect. If a planet aspects a node, the node first gives the result of aspecting planet, secondly gives the result of star lord and lastly that of the sub lord. C)
A node that is not conjoined with a planet, nor is aspected by a planet, gives the result of star lord, then sub lord and lastly sign lord.
If we find that condition (A) is Satisfied, we do not look for condition "B" or "C". If we find condition "B" then we do not look for conditions "A" or "C". If we do not find condition "A" or "B" only then we consider condition "C". 3) Relevant Bhava In KP Muhurat, we consider House grouping as given in KP literature. For example if we are looking for marriage Muhurat we will check 2,7, 11 bhava and Main bhava is 7th. We try to fix time when 7th sublord strongly signifies 2,7,11 and not 1,6,10. If we try to fix Muhurat for advertisement, we will check 3,9, 11 but main bhava is 11th. In this Muhurat we try to fix the time when 11th sublord signifies 3,9, 11. Likewise we have to fix the time when relevant bhava's main sublord signifies that group of bhavas. I will discuss this topic in detail in the later chapters. 4) Special Importance given to 11th Cusp Sublord. When we fix any Muhurat as per the rules given in (3) above, we will try to check 11th sublord too. If 11th sublord signifies relevant bhava house grouping that is better. For example if we are looking for marriage Muhurat, if 11th sublord also signifies 2,7,11 that is very good. 5) Running dasa It is a must that running Dasa, Bhukti, Antara, and Sooksma K. P. :\luhurat
+
4
also signify relevant bhava grouping. For example, in the case of marriage Muhurat, Dasanath, Bhuktinath, Antaranath, and Sookshmanath must also signify 2, 7, 11. 6) Selection of Lagna This last rule is very important in KP Muhurat. In my practice I have found that if Ase sublord of. Muhurat chart indicates a short life, even if other factors are good and strong, the event will end within a short time. Sometime ago, one of my friends took up a job in USA. At that time I was working on this KP Muhurat theory, so I asked him the time, date and place of joining the company. When I checked the chart I found that the Muhurat chart of joining time indicated Balaristha, so I told him that he would be fired from that job within a short period. Actually he was fired from that job! I will discuss this case in detail in a later chapter. This case was a major learning experience for me. This made me conclude that in KP Muhurat chart, the event under consideration must show long life. I strongly advise against selecting Chara lagna in a Muhurat chart. Never select MESHA. KARKA, TULA, AND MAKAR rasi as a Lagna. These four Rasis-MESHA, KARKA, TULA AND MAKAR are Chara Rasis and for Chara Rasi the 11th cusp is Badhaka Sthana. When we do any auspicious work we always aim for a long and prosperous life of that work, and for longevity we have to look at Ase cusp sublord. If we select a time when Ase sub lord signifies 1, 5, 11 this means good longevity of that event. But if we take Chara Lagna i.e. MESHA. KARKA, TULA, AND MAKAR 11th is not good but becomes a Badhaka. So we should avoid Chara Lagna for any Muhurat. A KP astrologer friend of mine asked me the following questions: I<. P. Muhurat
+
5
1)
2)
A client wants Muhurat for winning in a race. The event is short lived, may be for few minutes. What is the use of longevity here? Similarly winning a contract, winning elections are all short-lived events. Longevity is not an issue for such Muhurats.
3)
Chara lagna is good for something that involves movement and is not stagnant. For instance, it is understood from the KP Readers that chara lagna is a must for buying a car. Surely, we don't want it to be parked always? Hence ruling out chara lagna under the pretext of Badhaka may not be correct. Living/ Non-living classification is OK but finally non-living things are used for living people. Let us consider these questions one by one. 1)
A client wants Muhurat for winning in a race. The event is short lived, may be for few minutes. What is the use of longevity here?"
Longevity is very important here. If we are lloking at a car race, the race pericxl is very short but what happens if the person faces accident chning the race? In this case if the chart shows us long life, it means he will complete race. We also we have to judge 8th CSL to make sure that the accident is not indicated in the chart. There are some more factors that we should consider in arriving at the Race Muhurat. Each and every event may not have same life; so we have to use mtIUD sense too. If you are asking about "betting" on a race', then that is a different question and must be hanclled differently. Bo1h are not the same.
2)
Similarly winning a contract, winning elections are
all short-lived events. Longevity is not an issue for such Muhurats.
KP. Muhurat
+ 6
Winning a contract: This is not a short-lived event. What happens after the contract is won? Are you interested only in winning the contract? After winning the contract, don't you need to complete that work? Don't you want to earn money from that? Don't you want to get a good name your work? Let us take an example. We signed the 1-23 agreement with USA, I predicted through the MUHURAT chart of arrival time of Mr. Bush in India that it would materialize. The prediction came true. If you think about it, we are discussing the agreement even now! Do you call this a short-lived event? In the same way, winning an election is not a short-lived event. The politician needs to complete his 5 year term. What will happen if he is forced by the party to resign? Or the Government falls and he has to stand in the election once again? Don't you think long life of this event is a must? 3)
Chara lagna is good for something that involves movement and is not stagnant. For instance, it is understood from the KP Headers that chara lagna is a must for buying a car. Surely, we don't want it to be parked always? Hence ruling out chara lagna under the pretext of Badhaka may not be correct. Living! Non-living classification is OK but finally non-living things are used for living people.
Let us imagine that we are going on a highway and get involved in an accident. The car is damaged and can't go any further. What do we do? Isn't longevity important? Please understand the difference. I know it is somewhat difficult to digest but if you think deeply, definitely you will agree with me.
Of course, there are some situations where we have to discard Chara lagna idea. For example, a lady is admitted in hospital for delivery and the Doctor recommends caesarian section immediately within 30 minutes. Clearly K. P. Muhurat
+7
at this point we do not have much choice about the lagna perse, but we should select a time such that Ase sublord does not in any manner signify Maraka and Badhaka. The key point to remember is that we have to use our commonsense always. Without commonsense an astrologer can never do good for others. In the next chapter I will discuss a practical example and show how to calculate KP Muhurat.

We have to use commonsense here. The advertisement office will be open from 10 am to 6 pm (if this is different in your case, use the appropriate timings). Since the Muhurat must be in this interval, we have to pick a lagna appropriately. We get the following pruned list.
