Pimsleur French Transcripts The Pimsleur language lessons are excell ent tools for learning a language. Howev er, they are nearly exclusiv ely audio. You list en to the dialog and repeat. There are someti mes, but not always, some reading pronunciation exercises that accompany the lessons, but learning to speak the language using the Pimsleur method means listening to the audio and repeating the phrases. There are many times when understanding what has been said is difficult or confusing. Transcripts of the lessons would be very helpful - but there are nearly none.

About Me
Chong Ming's are the only ones I have been able to find. You can get them here here.. These are very helpful, however, however, t hey are PDF's and I wanted to be able to add my own notes. I also wanted them to be a bit more complete. Chong Ming included in his his transc ripts what he found useful. So, starting from Chong Ming's excellent work, I've added some additional material making the transcripts follow the audio a bit better and have correct corrected ed some minor errors. The transcripts are hosted by by Google Drive. They are in Open Open Document Format (ODF). The file names will have the format filename.odt. According to this Microsoft Micros oft article, article, Microsoft Office programs prog rams can read and and write them. If y ou don't don't have (or want) Microsoft Offic e, I recommend LibreOffice - or OpenOffice LibreOffice OpenOffice,, if you wish. I prefer prefer Libre LibreOffice; Office; here's an article about their history and differences. differences . In any case, both are are free and work work as well or better better than Microsoft Office. The links given will allow you to download download and and install on a variety variety of s ystems. Duolingo In addition to using the Pimsleur audio, you might consider also using the Duolingo Web site. Pimsleur is excellent at teaching how the language works and gives a good basis for continued learning; however, it's up to you to learn more words. Duolingo is a free Web site dedicated to learning languages - and they do a great job. It' s a great way to learn more vocabulary. Posted by Zincman at 8:42 AM

I've been seriously delayed by work. My apologies. I don't know when I'll be able to start again. Best of luck. Reply
Henry C February 17, 2016 at 10:37 AM I just bought French 1 for my 13-year old son who is about to learn his first language for high school. I look forward to you posting the first set. Thank you for taking the time to do this for all of us. Reply

As I said ea rlier, my (other) work is taking most of my time. However, I can recommend Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com/) for anyone wanting to learn written French (or any of many other languages). It is free and is very good. I spend a half-hour a day on it. It isn't a transcript of the Pimsleur recordings, but it will help immeasurably with the written language and with vocabulary. Reply
