Pregnancy in girls aged 19 or below is termed as teenage pregnancy. There are many social, emotional and health problems associated with teenage pregnancy. Even though increased awareness about sexual health and greater used o condoms has brought down the cases o teenage pregnancy in countries li!e ".#., the responsible actors li!e low education education standards, standards, poverty, poverty, inappropriate inappropriate !nowledge !nowledge o sex amongst amongst adolescents adolescents contributes to cases o teenage pregnancy. #ome developing nations are aced with problems o early marriage and non$awareness about contraceptives, which also contributes to cases o teenage pregnancy. %&uth 'hambers, ())1*
#ince unplanned sexual intercourse is more common in age group 1($1+, who are not aware o protected sex, the concern becomes grave or younger girls who get pregnant. an adolescent girl gets pregnant in such an early age, abortion is one option to be considered i the pregnancy is tested and detected in time. %-lavin, ())* n cases, where girl is in later adolescence, adoption or support o community to raise the child are some ways to help the teen pregnant emotionally, and also i she is inancially incapable o nurturing a child. t is highly important to see! support rom parents o the girl or the ather o the expected child, so that appropriate prenatal care can be oered. %/E00, ()11*. Teenage mothers may not be educated enough, and have complet completee awaren awareness ess about about precau precautio tions ns to be ta!en ta!en during during pregn pregnancy ancy.. t become becomess thereore essential to oer education and community support to such young girls, and
also create awareness about contraception to !eep them sae rom any such experience later upon. %/it2man, 1993*
Pregnancy in teenage is also a very troubling time or parents o the teenager who have dreamt a bright uture ahead or their children. 4owever since the teenager who gets pregnant also undergoes eelings o anger and rustration or the situation that has arrived, it is important that parents !eep their anger in control so as to reduce the adolescent5s stress. %Emmy E. 6erner, 199(* The parents should get complete medical chec! up done or the child by a 7ualiied physician in the ield, and ensure that she gets counseling as well rom outside i needed to overcome emotional stress. both the amilies o the girl and boy are ready to raise the child properly, it is good. Else adoption should be chosen as the way where some appropriate organi2ation should be chosen to adopt the child. Teenage pregnancy is not socially acceptable in many communities, and cultures. Thereore the social problems needed to be considered besides giving medical and pre$ natal care to the expecting adolescent girl. 'hildren, who are born to teenage parents are more li!ely to ace problems with good education, because social support may lac! in their case. appropriate community support is oered through child$care support, and social services, such children can also get good education and settle as independently earning individuals in the society. %8ill Denner1, ())1* teenage pregnancy is certainly debilitating or the girl child, who is oten aced with societal and amily pressure, because o the indiscretion that resulted into her pregnancy. %:ales, ()1)*. a teenage girl suers all the hostility rom riends and amily, she is not li!ely to understand and !now the aspects o nutrition associated with pregnancy and may give birth to low$weight or malnourished child. Behavioral problems are also common in such children as they do not get to witness the right parental s!ills that they can imitate.
Teen pregnancy becomes an issue o embarrassment or most parents and as a result they do not ind it easy to accept the situation and deal with it positively and patiently. :oreover a teen girl is also not bodily prepared to give birth to a child that adds to all other problems that she aces. t is important that such teen parents reenter educational institutions ater giving birth to the child so that they can be educated about being better parents in rearing their child. 'hild care should be accessible and within inancial reach o such teen mothers. :any teen parents begin to abuse their children as early as ; months o age i they also suered abuse as children. Even more there are higher chances o death associated with teenage pregnancy or the mother as well as the child. %'harles 4.
nother very important concern or preventing teen pregnancy is having a good guidance throughout the teenager5s teen years. The guardians o the teens play a crucial role in guiding the teen to ma!ing the right choices in his>her lie. The teenager then is aced with obstacles that would normally happen to a ()$3) year old woman. ?ot having the proper guidance will cause the teen to ind the alternatives. -or example, inding someone to be with to be cared or by in replace o a strong guidance, by the
guardians in the teenager5s lie. -or not having the proper guidance the teenager has a higher chance o dropping out or ailing out o a school, such as being a high school dropout to have time to give birth and time to raise the young child. #o by becoming pregnant at a young age and not inishing your education. t deinitely doesn5t sound li!e too much un, now does it@ The guidance in lie is the most important thing throughout so this can be less o an issue.
t is then caused, in eect, to put a lot o responsibility in the teenager5s lie once they ind out that they are pregnant. %'hristopher 8enc!s, ())1*There is 1))A more responsibility in the teenager5s lie. The early responsibility causes changes the teenagers overall personality. oing rom being in school ull time getting your education to having the responsibility to bringing a child into the world, then being alone able to possibly inish your high school education. -inishing your education in a regular + years o your high school years will be hard. ?ot even to mention the inancial costs it has to have a newborn. 6hat ma!es it hard is when you need money or the simple things or the child, but you don5t have the time to get a =ob because you5re nursing and getting ready to bring a child into the world. #o as a teenager you need a support system so that a newborn is ta!en care o in the saest, best place or the child. lot o this early responsibility can be unbearable or some teens, expesically the ones that choose to get pregnant while they are still in high school.
6ith all o this going on in their lives it5s aecting the health ris!s and medical negatives a teenage pregnancy can cause. -or example, there is an increased chance o mothers rom ages 1C$19 o birthing a child that is underweight at birth. low birth weight will increase the chance o the newborn to have health ris!s. t is deinitely not a great thing to have the chance o health ris!s in you or the child. nother way that the health problems can start is because teens might not have all the !nowledge o proper behavior in !nowing how to nurse the child or the proper ways during the growth o the child. Teenage adolescents tend to develop poor eating habits during pregnancy, they tend not to ta!e the proper vitamins, and in the worst scenario the teen drin!ing and> to doing drugs during the pregnancy. That is the worst that can be done it will increase the chance greatly o the baby being born with some type o birth deect or a wea! part o the baby. ?ow that can be the worst you can possibly do to an unborn child.
To wrap it all up, teen pregnancy is a ma=or issue that should try to be prevented as much as it can. t causes countless, dodge able problems i the right choices are made and you have a good support system around you. t would be in the best advice to not ta!e the chances to get pregnant as a teenager. t is not the age to get pregnant. Teens are not ully ready to become adults li!e the stress that ollows during the pregnancy.
