4) METHOD STATEMENT:4.1)
SERVICES/UTILITIES IN THE VICINITY OF WORK:-
4.1.1) List of services:
There are no services running along the work area. The sheet piling works have been completed already. Trial trenches were done before the sheet piling works to ensure the absence of any services within the work area.
4.1.2) Protective measures:
Even though there are no services running exactly below the piling area, there is a 500mm AC Main at a distance of 7.5 meter from the bakau piling area. Care is to be taken that no unsafe acts are carried out near the AC main. Regular checks are to be carried out to look for any possible leakage in the 500 AC Main.
4.2.2) SEQUENCE OF BAKAU PILING WORKS:
1) Set out the proposed 1500RCU drain alignment as per setting-out plan. 2) Excavate the trenches to the required depth for the laying of precast RC U-drain. 3) When the excavation reaches the required depth, Start the installation of Bakau piles. 4) Bakau piles are installed with the help of the Steel Dolly attached to the teeth of the excavator bucket. 5) The length of the metal dolly is 3m. The depth of excavation is 2.5m which means that the entire excavator bucket will be above the strut area when the bakau piles are completely installed. 6) The work sequence is;
The bakau pile is placed in the required location and is pressed into the soil by the workers up to possible depth.
The workers are then to move away from the pile.
The dolly attached to the excavator bucket is then lowered and the bakau pile is inserted into the hollow part of the metal dolly. If necessary, worker will assist
in inserting the pile in to the dolly. ER420_MS of Bakau Piling works for 1500 RCU_r0.doc
The metal dolly is the pressed down gradually until the whole length of the bakau pile is inserted into the ground.
The dolly is then lifted up with much care to prevent it from hitting the workers near the work area.
The next bakau pile is placed 300mm from the previous pile and the same process is continued.
