Schindler QKS Door Operators For Smooth, Quiet, Reliable Performance
A Full Range Of Advantages For Elevator Door Operation Schindler QKS Door Operators provide smooth, quiet operation and outstanding reliability. They are ideal for new construction and can be adapted to existing elevators systems as well. Design Flexibility QKS Door Operators can accommodate many different elevator door heights, widths and weights and many different cab heights. Model QKS 14 is designed for door systems weighing 550 pounds or less, and Model QKS 15 serves those weighing 550 to 700 pounds. Simple Installation QKS units are designed for easy assembly and their configurations are field reversible and adjustable. Each onesize, light-weight unit accommodates a full range of cab mounting requirements. Smooth, Quiet Performance QKS Door Operators with closed loop operation have been carefully designed to provide smooth, steady motion at all times. Doors open and close without jerky movement or unnecessary noise. Minimal Downtime And Reduced Maintenance Costs QKS Door Operators feature solid-state technology and strong, durable components. They have been designed to operate with a minimum of wear and tear for extended system life. When maintenance is required, all QKS Door Operator elements have been engineered for quick access and easy servicing.
Enhanced Passenger Safety
Improved Traffic Flow
With QKS Door Operators, doors react instantaneously to safety sensors; and door-closing speed and force are well within safety standards.
Doors equipped with QKS Operators provide nudging and an audible signal when held open for a prolonged period of time.
QKS Features
Sinusoidal Door Arm Drive Because North American buildings usually have comparatively heavy elevator doors in order to meet fire safety codes, Schindler QKS Door Operators utilize a sinusoidal type of drive. This drive moves each door through direct mechanical action. It avoids the use of relating cables and eliminates the chance of cable breakage which can leave elevator doors standing open. Because there is no need for cable lubrication, less dirt accumulates in the system. Each door is driven by a high-strength, light-weight, heavy-duty arm linked at the door’s kinetic center of mass. This assures steady door movement and eliminates the “racking” of door panels in their tracks. The drive moves the doors more slowly at the start of each opening sequence and the end of each closing sequence thereby avoiding sharp movements to further eliminate “racking” and provide smooth overall motion.

Enhanced Closed Loop Servo Control The QKS Closed Loop Servo Control maintains a constant door closing force that is well within current standards for passenger safety. This force also closes doors even under extreme “stack” effects in which strong air currents rise through elevator hoistways. The control provides continuous, reliable, easily-monitored door position information. Door operating times meet or exceed industry standards and are field adjustable. Door opening speed is consistent, regardless of door weight and friction changes. Door closing speed can be adjusted to allow for different door weights and code requirements. Dynamic braking is used to improve performance and prevent door drift. When doors have reached their full open or closed position, power is removed from the motor, resulting in extended motor life.

Solid State Controls With QKS Door Operators, a single PC board holds all controls. Plug-in connectors allow quick, error-free replacements. Position adjustments are clearly identified and easily accessible from the top of the cab even when the door is in motion. The use of an industry-standard power supply means there is no need for transformers. Optical isolators mean the system receives error-free input signals. The system’s service switch has open and close buttons on the control. This allows for easy selection of automatic or manual operation and means that adjustments can be performed quickly and easily. Quiet, Compact Master Operator QKS Door Operators utilize a small, quiet, DC motor with an FET H-Bridge PWM drive. This feature enables the motor to operate accurately and quietly. Model QKS 14 has a 1/6 horsepower motor and is designed for door systems (car door and hoistway door combined) weighing 550 pounds or less. Model QKS 15 has a 1/3 horsepower motor and heavier mechanical components for door systems weighing 550 to 700 pounds. The system’s Poly-V-Belt-and-link-chain drive assures non-slip operation. Belt and chain tensioning can be performed easily and independently. The low profile design allows technicians easy access when moving on and off the car top.

Rigid Door Clutch
Heavy Door Feature
Schindler uses a rigid door clutch design meeting code requirements.
Because lobby elevator doors are often heavier than upper-level doors, each QKS Door Operator is designed to Its retractable vane-type format provides handle doors of different weights in easy access for maintenance and locks the same hoistway. onto the hoistway door, eliminating unwanted lateral movement with Nudging Feature respect to the car door.
