CONCEPTION GENERALE DES STATIONS DE COMPRESSION Le sujet de cette conférence porte uniquement sur la réalisation des stations de compression équipées de groupes de compression turbines à gaz entraînant des compresseurs ou de groupes de compression moteurs à gaz avec compresseurs à pistons intégrés au moteur. Il s’agit de la présentation de l’expérience du GAZ DE FRANCE en la matière, expérience de plus de 30 ans. Les problèmes de choix des machines, de la technologie des compresseurs, des avantages et des inconvénients d’un type de compresseur par rapport à un autre ne sont pas traités (traités par ailleurs). Dans la conception générale des stations, les principaux chapitres développés sont : - l’implantation des équipements et des bâtiments, - le génie civil des machines, des bâtiments, - le réseau gaz, - les réseaux auxiliaires tels t els que air comprimé, eau, etc... - les réseaux électriques, - les équipements de sécurité.

INTRODUCTION Avant d’aborder le sujet de cet après-midi, qui traite de la conception des stations de compression installées sur les réseaux de Transport de Gaz, il faut que vous sachiez que notre doctrine en la matière, au GAZ DE FRANCE, ne s’est pas faite en un jour et qu’elle est le fruit d’une longue expérience, datant maintenant de plus de 30 ans. En effet, les premières stations de compression équipant un vrai réseau de transport de gaz remontent aux années 1954, lorsque pour récupérer le gaz fatal produit par les cokeries sidérurgiques de l’Est de la FRANCE, le premier transport de gaz à longue distance a été réalisé entre cette région et la région Parisienne (272 km - ∅ 300 mm - 60 bar). Auparavant, il existait bien dans les usines à gaz, des stations de compression destinées à desservir des zones relativement éloignées des zones de production et que les réseaux basse ou moyenne pression ne pouvaient alimenter. Ces stations, dont la pression de refoulement se situait entre 7 et 25 bar, étaient équipées de compresseurs à palettes, à vis ou à pistons, toujours entraînés par moteurs électriques. C’est en 1958, avec la découverte de gisement de gaz naturel à Lacq dans le Sud-Ouest de notre pays, que furent installées sur le réseau de transport alimentant les régions Parisienne, Lyonnaise et Nantaise, les premières stations de compression équipées de groupes compresseurs à pistons entraînés par moteurs à gaz. A cette époque, l’utilisation de groupes turbines à gaz entraînant des compresseurs centrifuges, n’était pas encore très éprouvée et les quatre stations de compression qui ont équipé ce réseau à l’origine, c’est-à-dire, Auros, Chazelles, Roussines et Vindecy, l’ont été avec des groupes compresseurs à pistons intégrés à des moteurs à gaz. En 1966, les premières stations de compression équipées de turbines à gaz entraînant des compresseurs centrifuges ont été réalisées. Se furent celles de Perigné sur l’artère Chazelles - Nantes et celle de SaintVictor sur l’artère du Centre entre Roussines et Vindecy. En 1992, notre réseau de transport de gaz comporte 40 stations de compression, en y incluant les 12 équipant les stockages souterrains de gaz. Elles utilisent quelques 155 groupes de compression ayant une puissance totale de 480.000 kW environ, les puissances par stations s’échelonnant entre 1.700 kW et 56.000 kW (station de Taisnières). Pour chaque projet et à tous les stades de la conception de ces stations, des échanges techniques entres les Régions Exploitantes et le Centre National d’Equipement ont permis, à la Direction Production Transport du GAZ DE FRANCE, d’intégrer en permanence les exigences liées aux contraintes quotidiennes d’exploitation, pour définir et faire évoluer la doctrine et posséder la parfaite maîtrise de la réalisation et de la conception des stations de compression. Cette conception tient également le plus grand compte de ce qui se réalise en cette manière dans les autres pays. Sur nos réseaux de transport de gaz actuels et en schématisant, on peut classer les stations de compression en deux catégories :

C’est le cas des stations installées près des frontières, aux sources d’approvisionnement où les contrats prévoient un enlèvement régulier tout au long de l’année. Elles sont au moins en base, équipées de groupes compresseurs à pistons entraînés par moteur à gaz (Taisnières - Velaine - Cerville). A noter que les terminaux méthaniers, autres sources d’approvisionnement, ne nécessitent pas pour le transport, de stations de compression sur le réseau, car celles-ci sont remplacées par une mise en pression en phase liquide (pompes cryogéniques) avant regazéification. cette solution est beaucoup plus avantageuse (moins d’énergie nécessaire et investissement moindre). Lorsqu’elles sont installées sur le réseau de transport et qu’elles n’ont pour fonction que de renforcer la capacité de transit pendant les périodes de pointe, ces stations de compression sont équipées de groupes compresseurs centrifuges entraînés par turbine à gaz.
2 - Les stations de compression destinées au stockage du gaz Elles sont caractérisées par un taux de compression élevé (1,7 à 4) et des débits essentiellement variables. Elles sont équipées de groupes compresseurs à pistons entraînés, soit par moteur à gaz, soit par moteur électrique lorsque leur utilisation est essentiellement réservée à l’injection de gaz, pendant la période avril et octobre et permet de bénéficier d’un tarif d’énergie électrique particulièrement intéressant. La compression réalisée par des compresseurs centrifuges remplace maintenant la compression réalisée par des moto-compresseurs dont la technologie ancienne n’a pas évolué, la machine est lourde, coûteuse et difficile à rendre “propre” face la législation réglementant les émissions de gaz de combustion à l’atmosphère. Certains stockages, dont la pression de fond est proche de la pression maximale d’exploitation du réseau, peuvent nécessiter, pour des débits de pointe, l’utilisation de la compression au soutirage. Ces compresseurs centrifuges entraînés par turbines à gaz sont également utilisés pour le soutirage. Ces fonctions variées et l’historique du développement du réseau français depuis 1952, expliquent la grande diversité des stations et des machines (voir Planche I - Carte générale du réseau de Transport du GAZ DE FRANCE). Cependant, malgré la diversité des fonctions, la conception générale des stations de compression est essentiellement essentiellement liée au type de compresseur à installer, à savoir : - les compresseurs à pistons, - les compresseurs centrifuges. Les problèmes de choix des machines, de la technologie des compresseurs, des avantages et des inconvénients d’un type de compresseur par rapport à un autre, sont des sujets évoqués dans les autres conférences de cette session. Je n’en parlerai donc pas et m’attacherai, uniquement, à la présentation de la conception des stations en fonction de ces deux types de compresseurs utilisés.

0 - GENERALITES On estime généralement que la compression par turbo-compresseur est plus particulièrement adaptée à des équipements de pointe, compte tenu, de la légèreté relative de ces machine qui peuvent supporter des transferts géographiques, de leur prix réduit par rapport aux moto-compresseurs, et de leur souplesse de mise en service. Dans la conception générale des stations de ligne qui en sont équipées, il y a lieu, de conserver à l’esprit ce caractère de légèreté, pour l’ensemble des réalisations annexes (bâtiments et génie civil légers, éléments modulaires étudiés avec le souci de standardiser pour faciliter les échanges et les déplacements des unités). Par contre, pour les stations de base, équipées de moto-compresseurs ou de turbocompresseurs qui sont construites pour plusieurs décennies, des équipements plus lourds sont nécessaires. En effet, les moto-compresseurs dont les contraintes d’exploitation sont plus pesantes, nécessitent un personnel permanent, ce qui implique la construction de bâtiments plus importants (bureaux, ( bureaux, vestiaires, ateliers, magasins). Egalement, en ce qui concerne les réseaux auxiliaires, les turbo-compresseurs sortent d’usine montés sur “châssis métallique” avec tous leurs circuits auxiliaires intégrés. A l’arrivée, sur le site, seuls les raccordements aux réseaux gaz et électrique de la station sont à réaliser. Par contre, pour les moto-compresseurs, les éléments qui les composent sont généralement des pièces lourdes. Ils arrivent sur le site séparément. Les réseaux auxiliaires sont importants, il faut les monter sur place. Ils nécessitent, en dehors des réseaux propres à la machine, de réseaux supplémentaires, tels que par exemple, un réseau général d’huile, d’eau machine pour le refroidissement, d’air comprimé, de chauffage, etc...). Le compresseur à moteur à gaz séparé, est une solution de compression alternative plus légère (50 tonnes pour une puissance de 1 200 kW). L’ensemble moteur et compresseur est installé sur un châssis métallique comportant tous les systèmes auxiliaires. Les connexions aux réseaux auxiliaires restent les mêmes que pour en moto-compresseurs. Il faut savoir, enfin, que pour les stations installées sur le réseau de transport, les groupes doivent être opérationnels, au plus tard en octobre pour assurer, dans de bonnes conditions, les gros transits de l’hiver. Pour les stations installées sur les stockages souterrains, leur mise en service doit s’effectuer en mars, afin d’assurer la campagne d’injection d’été. Dans les chapitres qui vont suivre, nous étudierons pour les turbo-compresseurs et les motocompresseurs motocompresseurs parallèlement et successivement :

1 - IMPLANTATION DES EQUIPEMENTS ET DES BATIMENTS
1.1. - COMPOSITION D’UNE STATION Les grands ensembles constituant une station sont : - le ou les postes de coupure sur la ou les lignes permettant de raccorder la station, - le ou les ateliers élémentaire de compression, - éventuellement, un atelier interconnexion, - les collecteurs principaux gaz reliant r eliant les ensembles précités, - les bâtiments principaux et bâtiments annexes, - les routes et aires de manutention.
1.2. - IMPLANTATION DES ENSEMBLES (PLANCHES II ET III) Le poste de coupure est implanté dans toute la mesure du possible en extrémité du terrain, à distance raisonnable de la clôture (15 à 20 m), de façon à laisser libre un maximum de terrain pour implanter les autres ensembles. L’atelier de compression, le plus important en surface, est implanté approximativement au centre du terrain et orienté avec aspirations et refoulements des compresseurs côté poste de coupure. Les bâtiments bureaux sont implantés près de l’entrée de la station et le plus loin possible de l’ensemble compression. Ceci particulièrement quand la station est équipée de motocompresseurs pour réduire, au minimum, les effets du bruit et des vibrations induites par les compresseurs et les échappements des moteurs (vibration des vitres). Les routes de 3 à 5 m de large doivent permettre d’accéder à tous les équipements de la station où l’intervention d’une grue peut être nécessaire. De même, les points de la station où le personnel pourrait intervenir à partir d’un véhicule d’entretien ou de mesure, sont à raccorder au réseau routier. 2.1. - GENIE CIVIL DES MACHINES 2.1.1. - Groupes turbo-compres t urbo-compresseurs seurs (Planche IV) Les turbo-compresseurs sont, depuis 1993, installés dans un bâtiment individuel en maçonnerie permettant une atténuation des émissions sonores. Ces machines légères (50 tonnes pour P = 10 MW) et bien équilibrées, sont installés sur une dalle de 1 mètre à 2 mètres d’épaisseur et d’une surface représentant le plancher de service de la salle. Les fosses extérieures de remontées des tuyauteries d’aspiration et de refoulement où sont installées les butées d’ancrage font partie de la dalle. Ce massif réalisé, en béton armé, forme une assise rigide permettant de répartir la charge de la machine sur le soi naturel. La machine sur son “châssis” est posée à même la dalle. Un caniveau peut être intégré à cette dalle pour recevoir les tuyauteries auxiliaires, telles que le gaz carburant, l’huile, l’air instrument et également les câbles électriques. Nous voyons donc que le génie civil pour les turbo-compresseurs est très simple et ne nécessite pas de calculs particuliers autres que ceux habituels pour une dalle supportant une charge répartie. Le groupe est fixé à la dalle par des tiges d’ancrage, mises en place après la pose du groupe sur la dalle ou tout simplement chevillé à celle-ci par percement de trous à la dimension des chevilles. Le bâtiment a des fondations particulières, non liées à la dalle, il peut être réalisé en béton banché simple paroi auquel il est ajouté un complexe d’isolation phonique ou en maçonnerie de parpaings en double paroi avec emplissage intermédiaire, en laine de roche.
2.1.2. - Groupes moto-compresseurs moto-compresseurs Pour les moto-compresseurs, le massif du groupe est beaucoup plus lourd et beaucoup plus rigide pour que sa fréquence propre soit nettement différente de la fréquence fondamentale et des premiers harmoniques de vibration des forces alternatives et des couples de la machine. Dans les cas où le sol en surface est néanmoins insuffisant, une consolidation du sol, après décapage, pourra être obtenue par une couche de tout-venant avec une couche de feutre polyester interposée entre le sol naturel et la couche de tout-venant. Si le sol est vraiment mauvais sur une profondeur importante, des pieux obliques ou verticaux prenant appui dans le bon sol, seront exécutés sous le radier. La faible charge unitaire sur le sol augmente la fréquence propre de l’ensemble radier et massifs des groupes et diminue ainsi le coefficient d’amplification de l’amplitude propre de l’ensemble fondation-machine. De plus, la masse du bâtiment contribue à l’amortissement des vibrations. La dalle du radier général s’appuie sur des bêches coulées en pleine terre, situées sur la périphérie du radier et sous les massifs des groupes. Pour ces dernières, une disposition en H est à retenir. Ces bêches consolident le radier qui doit résister aux forces d’inertie non équilibrées et cela sans augmenter la charge totale sur le sol. De plus, elles augmentent la surface de contact avec le sol et en conséquence, l’effet de masse assure ainsi une meilleure résistance aux efforts d’inertie. Elles évitent toute possibilité de mouvement latéral. La charge admissible sur le sol ne doit pas dépasser le tiers de la charge statique permise. Il est préférable de couler le radier en une seule fois. Il en est de même pour les massifs, car cela exclut le risque de fissuration aux reprises. Cependant, si le coulage en continu du radier peut être réalisé sans problème, il n’en est pas de même pour les massifs des groupes. En effet, jusqu’à une hauteur importante, le massif d’un groupe est un parallélépipède simple facile à coffrer par un coffrage solidement fixé au radier général déjà coulé et sec. Cela n’est pas le cas dans le haut du massif où plusieurs profils ou découpes sont nécessaires. De plus, les tiges d’ancrage des machines sont maintenues en place par un gabarit métallique exigeant une bonne rigidité au moment du coulage. Tous ces coffrages, pour être coulés en une seule fois, doivent être suspendus et sont difficiles à fixer solidement. Les Entrepreneurs habitués à ce genre de réalisation préfèrent couler le massif en deux fois : - d’abord, le massif m assif est coulé jusqu’aux premiers décrochements, - puis dès que possible, il est décoffré et seuls les fers verticaux émergent de la partie coulée.

De plus, les pièces lourdes nécessitent des ponts roulants, plus précis et plus surs que des grues pour positionner les pièces au montage. Les murs du bâtiment ne sont pas encombrés par les tuyauteries t uyauteries auxiliaires. Au moment du montage dans le bâtiment, les différentes équipes travaillant à l’intérieur, ne se gênent pas. - Inconvénients : Un délai de réalisation un peu plus long. Le plancher est à réaliser après le génie civil. La mise en place des groupes ne peut se faire que dans l’axe transversal de la salle, car le plancher de service ne peut supporter des charges importantes, par conséquent, le génie civil des auxiliaires du côté où les groupes sont introduits dans le bâtiment (généralement, côté échappement du moteur) ne peut être réalisé qu’une fois les groupes en place.

En conclusion, entre les deux solutions en dehors des problèmes de réalisation, nous pouvons dire que la solution avec sous-sol facilite la petite maintenance et que la solution sans sous-sol facilite l’exploitation et la surveillance, car tout l’ensemble est au même niveau et entièrement visible. La tendance actuelle irait plutôt vers une solution sans soussol.
Eléments de construction du bâtiment Le bâtiment est constitué par une charpente à poutre à âme pleine et profil variable ou à profilés standards. La première solution est plus esthétique. La toiture est à deux pans de faible pente et est constituée de bacs autoportants en acier galvanisé ou en aluminium, comportant côté interne, un matelas isolant de laine de verre, une protection antivapeur et un parement perforé. Les murs sont de même composition que la toiture. Le chêneau peut être extérieur ou intérieur. Toutes les traversées de bardage par les tuyauteries se font à travers t ravers des cadres métalliques.

3.1. - RESEAU PRINCIPAL 3.1.1. - Poste de raccordement à la ligne (Planche VI) La ligne (c’est la canalisation de transport) qui comporte généralement un poste de coupure avec gares de réception et de départ de pistons racleurs. Du fait de sa coupure, la ligne est butée de chaque côté du poste dans sa partie enterrée par un massif d’ancrage. Une vanne de sectionnement assure la continuité de la ligne. Pour les stations équipées de motocompresseur, cette vanne a une double fonction, sectionnement de la ligne et by-pass de la station, contrairement aux stations équipées de turbocompresseurs où la fonction by-pass est assurée par un clapet isolé de la ligne par deux vannes.

" Conception Générale des Stations de Compression "
L’utilisation, depuis plus de 20 ans, de turbocompresseurs a permis un retour d’expérience amenant des modifications de l’ensemble station de compression, de la machine et de son environnement. Quelques exemples sont donnés ci-après.
• STATION * Système de tuyauteries - l’atelier de compression est scindé en deux ateliers élémentaires de compression comprenant chacun un dispositif de Mise en Sécurité Ultime : cette disposition permet d’exploiter une partie de la puissance installée, alors qu’un des ateliers est arrêté sur déclenchement déclenchement du système s ystème de Mise en Sécurité Ultime, - les tuyauteries sont enterrées : cette disposition permet une intégration dans le site plus aisée et surtout évite la propagation du bruit par les canalisations, - les évents du dispositif de Mise en Sécurité Ultime et les évents de décompression des tuyauteries machines sont dirigés vers une zone de sécurité située à l’intérieur de la station : cette disposition permet de préserver les personnes (tiers) et les biens (bâtiments), en cas d’inflammation des évents, provoquée par la foudre par exemple. - la filtration à l’aspiration peut-être réalisée par des filtres “à cartouches” ou par un filtre “multicyclones” placé au au plus près de la machine : le système de filtration est étudié lors de la réalisation du Dossier d’Ingénierie de Base, selon la plage de débit demandée, le choix peut se porter sur l’installation de filtres “multicyclones” et aboutir sur un système de filtration moins coûteux, - une vanne de laminage est installée sur le collecteur d’Aspiration commun station : cette vanne permet de modifier la pression d’aspiration de la machine, et de vérifier les points de fonctionnement garantis,

- la soupape station est supprimée, elle est remplacée par un seuil d’arrêt par machine (PS3H = Pms x 1,04) : le débit dans les installations étant de plus en plus important, il était nécessaire d’installer plus d’une soupape de grand débit, cette disposition permet de simplifier l’installation, - les robinets à souder de diamètre supérieur à DN300 sont équipés de manchettes soudées en usine par le robinettier : cette disposition permet de réaliser une soudure délicate dans des conditions d’atelier, la procédure de soudage du robinettier préservant les joints de siège, - les robinets motorisés sont approvisionnés avec les actionneurs installés en usine par le robinettier : cette disposition permet un réglage précis de l’actionneur, réalisé par le robinettier. Les problèmes de détérioration des joints par laminage lorsque le robinet ne ferme pas totalement, sont ainsi éliminés. L’adaptation de l’actionneur au robinet par le robinettier évite les erreurs dans les données de couple, évite les erreurs d’interface (platine ( platine robinet non adaptée à l’actionneur),... l ’actionneur),... - les prélèvements du gaz carburant et du gaz pilote/gaz moteur du système de Mise en Sécurité Ultime sont réalisés à l’intérieur de l’atelier élémentaire : cette disposition permet d’isoler totalement les équipements de l’atelier élémentaire, supprimant ainsi le risque d’alimentation permanente d’un défaut,
• TURBOCOMPRESSEUR - le turbocompresseur est installé dans un bâtiment individuel chauffé : cette disposition aide au démarrage de la machine, - le gaz carburant est réchauffé à l’entrée de poste de détente, celui-ci étant placé dans un abri attenant au bâtiment : cette disposition aide au démarrage de la machine, - le poste de détente de gaz carburant est équipé d’un robinet d’isolement amont et d’un robinet d’évent : lors du déclenchement d’un Arrêt d’urgence, cette disposition permet d’isoler et de dépressuriser le poste de détente et le circuit d’alimentation qui est situé dans le bâtiment,
Nota : la pressurisation s’effectue localement par ouverture manuelle du robinet d’isolement, elle doit être lente. - lorsque le taux de compression le justifie, un aéroréfrigérant gaz est installé au refoulement du turbocompresseur : cette disposition applicable aux stations de ligne est indispensable lorsque les collecteurs sont enterrés, elle évite ainsi la détérioration du revêtement (Température limitée à 55°C), chaque machine est ainsi autonome, le recyclage court connecté après l’aéroréfrigérant permet le fonctionnement du turbocompresseur à débit réduit,

- le déclenchement de la Mise en Sécurité Ultime d’un atelier élémentaire est réalisé, en autres déclenchements, déclenchements, lors de la concomitance de deux des trois t rois défauts suivant : incendie 2ème seuil, pressurisation circuit CO2, détection gaz 2ème seuil : cette disposition évite l’arrêt de l’atelier élémentaire lorsqu’une des machines est en Arrêt d’urgence sur déclenchement de l’un de ces trois défauts. - Deux détecteurs d’atmosphère dangereuse sont installés à l’aspiration d’air de la machine : cette disposition permet de détecter que la machine aspire un mélange air/gaz, gaz provenant d’une mise à l’évent d’un système appartenant à la machine ou à la machine voisine, - le démarrage du turbocompresseur est réalisé par un démarreur électro-hydraulique en remplacement du lanceur à gaz : ce système évite le rejet r ejet de méthane à l’atmosphère, l’ atmosphère, - l’étanchéité turbine/compresseur est réalisée par des garnitures “sèches” : ce système permet de limiter les systèmes d’huile dans l’alvéole, seul reste le système d’huile de lubrification, en outre, il n’y a plus de risque de passage d’huile dans le système “gaz process” au travers du compresseur, - la configuration des machines en série ou en parallèle est réalisée par un système de tuyauteries et de vannes extérieures, il s’agit de connecter deux sections de compression entre elles : cette disposition mise en place essentiellement pour les machines de compression en stockage souterrain permet d’utiliser des compresseurs “standards”, non conçus avec le système s ystème série/parallèle intégré. D’autres modifications sont à attendre notamment celles qui sont liées à l’évolution de la réglementation sur l’eau, les émissions de polluants, la foudre,...
