Course description: The course focuses on the discussion of the structure -function -f unction relationship of the four biomolecules: biomolecules: proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids and their metabolis m. Course goals:
Understand and appreciate the relationship relati onship of the structure struct ure and chemistry of the four biomolecules to their function includin g their metabolism and regulation.
Course Objectives: 1. 2. 3. 4.
to compare the basic biochemical principles in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. to illustrate the structure-function relationship of biomolecules in living systems. to describe metabolism, its organization and regulation. to give examples of the applications of b iochemistry in related fields. th
