1.2 Notação e Formação de uma Matriz As matrizes costumam ser representadas por letras maiúsculas e seus elementos por letras minúsculas, acompanhadas de dois índices que indicam a linhas e a coluna, respectivamente, de cada elemento. Um formato geral para matiz m x n é: Abreviando a matriz A teríamos:
a11 … a1n A = a m1 amn
A = [ aij ]m x n
Onde i e j representam,
respectivamente, a linha e a coluna que o elemento ocupa. Vejamos um exemplo de uma matriz 2 x 3. isso indica que a matriz possui duas linhas e três colunas. Onde: 2 −3 4 1 0 5 2 x 3

1.3.3 Matriz Quadrada É toda matriz do tipo m x m, ou seja, o mesmo número de linhas e colunas. Com isso dizemos que a matriz possui ordem n onde n é seu número de linhas e colunas.
