Planning (Bachelor of Planning) (Effective for (Effective for all the students students from from the Academic Year 2005-06) 1. Award of the B. Planning Degree: A student will be declared eligible for the award of the “B. Planning” Degree if he fulfills the following academic regulations: i.
He has to pursue a course of study for not less than four academic years and not more than eight academic years.
ii.
He has registered for and studied all the subjects for a total of 240 credits and secured all the 240 credits.
Note: Students, who fail to fulfill all the academic requirements for the award of the degree within eight academic years from the year of their admission, shall forfeit their seat in the course and their seat shall stand cancelled.
2. Distribution and weightage of the marks: i.
The performance of the student in each semester shall be evaluated subject -wise with a maximum of 200 marks in Graphics, Planning and Design Studio and 100 marks in other subjects. The Planning project in the eighth semester shall be evaluated for 300 marks.
ii.
The distribution of marks for the subjects shall be: For all Theory/Practicals/Studio subjects: 50 % for Internal Evaluation and 50 % for End Evaluation. The end evaluation for studio subject shall be viva-voce by a jury comprising of one external examiner and one internal examiner. The evaluation for the subjects Introduction to Communication skills, Seminar, Workshop shall be 100 % Internal Evaluation.
iii.
Out of a total of 300 marks for the project work in the eighth semester, 150 marks shall be for Internal Evaluation and 150 marks for the End Evaluation, which shall be by an external jury and viva-voce. The End Evaluation shall be conducted by a board of examiners consisting of the thesis coordinator, Head

7. Award of Class:
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
After a student has satisfied the requirements prescribed for the completion of the program and is eligible for the award of the B. Planning. Degree he shall be placed in one of the following three classes: First Class with 70% and above Distinction From the aggregate marks secured for Below 70% but not less First Class 240 credits than 60% Below 60% but not less Second Class than 50% (The marks in the internal evaluation and end examination shall be shown separately in the marks memorandum).
8. Minimum Instruction Days: i. ii.
The minimum instruction for each semester shall be 90 days excluding the examination days. Practical training in the 8th semester shall be for the duration of 12 calendar weeks excluding the Viva voce examination from the date of commencement of actual training.

Where the words "he", "him", "his", occur in the regulations, they include "she", "her", "hers". The academic a cademic regulations should be read as a whole for the purpose of any interpretation. In the case of any doubt or ambiguity in the interpretation of the above rules, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor is final. The University may change or amend the academic regulations or syllabi at any time and the change or amendments made shall be applicable to all the students with effect from the dates notified by the University. A good understanding of the academic regulations and a strict adherence to the proposed schedules will enable the students to complete the B.Plan programme successfully within the stipulated time.

UNIT VII Use of Multimedia in Communication Computer adaptive presentations slide shows, using the overhead projector, etc. Style and format for the presentation of the seminar papers, technical reports, and dissertations. Expected Outputs & Assignment Each student shall present a written paper and a seminar at the end of the semester for final assessment on a topic to be finalized in consultation with the concerned faculty. UNIT I The academic objective of this exercise is to get a first hand experience about the life and living of rural people. Students shall undertake study of a particular village with a population of around 10,000 and conduct a detailed primary survey. The village so selected should be outside the zone of influence of any metropolis. The primary survey is also expected to give them an exposure to research methodology and techniques of data collection. UNIT II The issues like demography, employment and asset structure, agriculture and allied activities, social and cultural issues, livelihood patterns, community development and participation, institutions, government programmes, village level amenities and linkage, energy utilization pattern, resource profile and recent changes and development in the village and surrounding area to be dealt UNIT III Village level information shall be collected from the Panchayat Office, Census handbook and other secondary sources. Primary survey shall be conducted for adequate households for detailed study. Expected Outputs & Assignment The output of the studio exercise shall be in the form of preparation of a strategy plan for the overall short and long-term development of the village. The distribution of marks in the studio subject may be as follows: • 40% for individual assignment 60% for group work
