In 2006, the overall tourist price index showed a marginal increase of 4.4 per cent, when compared with the previous year. In absolute terms, it increased by only 210 points from 4,796 in the 2005/2006 season, to 5,006 in the 2006/2007 season (See able 19). Te category in which the highest rate of increase in prices was recorded is the ransport sector – 26.8 per cent, followed by Accommodation category – 10.9 per cent while Food & Beverage sector increased by 9.2 per cent. Within the accommodation sector, the price increase occurred in Beach area - 12.0, City area - 4.3 and Circuit area - 4.2 per cent. J - Public Sector Revenue
Public sector institutions derive revenue from tourism in a variety of ways, namely direct and indirect taxes, fees and levies, profi ts from business undertakings etc. However, statistics of revenue collections are readily available only from a few sources, such as embarkation levy, tourism development levy, embarkation tax, entrance fees to cultural triangle, national parks, museums, botanical gardens etc. Te revenue collections from some of these sources are given in ables 25 to 31.
