Alcatel-Lucent Company Overview
Week 1 James Ndirangu Analysis Alcatel-Lucent’s Mission statement - To use our unique capabilities to ensure that our customers thrive, our business grows and we enrich the personal communications experience for people around the world.
Pros Alcatel-Lucent’s Mission statement clears articulates the long term goals of the company which intend to benefit its customers, its owners and the world community... The statement also differentiates Alcatel-Lucent’s from its rivals by referring to using its “unique abilities” to achieve those goals... The statement also gives a general and non-technical description of the industry it is in, by instead describing how their products and services impact peoples lives... Given that Alcatel-Lucent’s sells technology products that many ordinary people would not be familiar with, by describing what the products can do for people makes it easier for everyone to understand the business it is in... Cons Alcatel-Lucent’s Mission statement does not mention its name, however this does not seem to be detrimental to its mission statement... The statement does not specifically mention the markets targeted, or the clients or business Alcatel-Lucent wants to serve. Given that it sells communication network equipment to communication service providers and not directly to the public, explaining this and mentioning the technology markets segments it serves would make the statement too complicated... The statement itself does not mention Alcatel-Lucent’s values, but which are instead elaborated in a separate statement on its values.//
