3.2
Assessment
3.2.1
A student is subjected to 2 methods of assessment - outcome (assignment) based (HND) and non-outcome (exam) based.
3.2.2
The outcome assessment package identifies how each outcome in every course is assessed. Even though the course defines an entity against which assessment takes place, it does not specify any particular order or mode of delivery. Assessment activities can contribute to the achievement of more than 1 outcome and it may be an integration of courses.
3.2.3
The key characteristics of assessment are validity, reliability and fitness for purpose. A variety of traditional and innovative assessment methods can be used including case studies, assignments, time-constrained assessments and work-based projects. In order to meet this requirement, a record of assessment for each student, detailing the evidence evaluated against the required course outcomes, will be maintained. These records will be available for verification by an external verifier/examiner.
3.2.4
All assignments must be submitted before or on the specified deadline (submission deadline). Lecturers will grade them with written comments on the work submitted and return them to the student within 4 weeks of the submission deadline.
3.2.5
If the assessed work is not satisfactory, it can be resubmitted/supplemented (REDO) on another specified deadline (resubmission deadline) and the highest grade achieved is a ‘Pass’.
3.2.6
Any assessment submitted without any attempt or no submission made at all, the students are not allowed to resubmit/supplement (REDO). Thus, ‘F’ grade will be awarded.
3.2.7
Any assignment submitted after the submission deadline will not be graded and ‘F’ grade will be awarded.
