A PROPOSED BPO HUB IN ARCA SOUTH, TAGUIG CITY PREPARED BY FRANCISCO, KENT CARIEL G. 2010120912
Introduction Today, I will present to you my Architectural Thesis Project: A Proposed BPO Hub in Arca South, Taguig City. This project will show how this development will be a model of decentralization theory, it’s effectiveness to become a catalyst of bringing employment to the people in the far side of the concentration part of employment in the city, The CBDs of Metro Manila. I will begin to discuss my theory behind this project, my research process and how I come to a solution to propose this type of development.
PROBLEM BACKGROUND In Metro Manila, the concentration of employment can be found in the Metro's most urbanized district. one example is the Ayala CBD in Makati City and The Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. The decentralization concept will be used to disperse the concentration of the BPO component in the CBDs to sprawl outside its concentration boundaries to address the demand for the BPO development. RESEARCH FOCUS The research will focus on decentralizing a part of CBD component by spreading out the BPO component to sprawl out-side its boundaries. RESEARCH AND RELEVANCE TO THE PROJECT The research will focus on decentralizing a part of CBD component by spreading out the BPO component to sprawl out-side its boundaries.
GOAL •
The goal of this project is to address unemployment through establishing BPO development
OBJECTIVES
•
•
•
To provide BPO development that addresses the spatial need of the BPO industry To provide and enhance the employment rate of the city by providing BPO structures that addresses demand of the BPO industry. To establish a design that will make use of the decentralization concept
METHODOLOGY Descriptive research by gathering data, statistics, figures from various source is gathered to give substantial basis to the whole research

DESIGN CONCEPT
DESIGN
CONCEPT
The design concept for the BPO complex is inspired by fish where local fishermen who catch aquatic food to their everyday lives. historically, Taguig locals are composed mainly of fishermen where large bodies of water is th source of food. Using this concept will make the structure historically significant to the people and reflect to the economy.
UTILITY CONCEPT BREATHABLE BUILDING ENVELOPE The “breathable skin” is one of architecture’s oldest and most fundamental notions. Enabling natural air to move through a building dates back to the wind catchers of ancient Egypt and related structures in the Middle East. Over time, technological advancements, ever-increasing building heights, and society’s growing environmental awareness have spurred exciting new developments in the design and construction of sustainable architecture that "breathes."
A breathable environment promotes healthy architecture that creates an overall impact to the users health and social impact and also to the productivity of the users within the structure while at the same time lowering the total cost for artificial ventilation and passively cools down the building during the intense heat season
STRUCTURAL CONCEPT USING A SPACE FRAME STRUCTURE THAT RELATES TO THE ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT TRANSLATION THROUGH PARAMETRIC JOINT SYSTEM
