Durabloom is prepared through the processing of raw chicken manure. The chicken manure is processed through the inoculation of beneficial enzymes and microorganism using the product Biosec. With Biosec treatment, manure decomposition and digestion is immediate, thus minimizing ammonia production and proliferation pathogenic microorganism. microorganism.

The process of decomposition is done via complex microbial and enzymatic process utilizing beneficial microorganisms used by food and feed industries. These beneficial microorganisms multiply rapidly and subsequently produce microbial products that inhibit the growth and proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms microorganisms such as Salmonella sp., E. coli, and the like. Thus the application of Biosec replaces the microflora of the manure from pathogenic group of microorganisms to beneficial group of microbes.

During microbial processing, harmful microbes in the raw manure are destroyed. The fats and protein in the manure are digested that is why the foul odor is removed. Processing Processing or fermentation takes takes all of 45 to 60 days. Fermentation generates generates heat as high as 70°C that is why the manure heats up, turns dry, and destroys microbes. The fermentation is caused by a digester consisting of molds, bacteria and yeasts that are packed into a product branded Biosec.

In the enzymatic decomposition process, the manure composition is broken down to simple nutrients, which can be available for plant use upon usage as fertilizer. The combination of beneficial microorganism and enzyme action on the manure allows it to ferment and release the necessary macro and micronutrients in it. Nevertheless, the process sanitizes it through the removal of pathogenic microorganisms and ammonia and sulfide production. (See Annex I)

Action of Beneficial Microorganism Present in the Durabloom are inoculated i noculated beneficial microorganisms microorganisms such as: Lacto bacilli sp., Aspergillus sp., and yeasts. The beneficial microorganisms degrade organic matter into simple nutrients for plant use. Aside from this function, the beneficial microorganisms improve the microflora of the soil. Through the release or secretion of digestive enzymes and special acids like lactic acid, it eliminates the growth and development of pathogenic microorganisms such as Salmonella sp. and E. coli. In crop production, it minimizes, if not, eliminates the causal agent for crown and root rot - Fusarium sp. and other soil borne fungal and bacterial diseases.

The presence of beneficial microorganisms in the Durabloom promotes the production of digestive enzymes such as Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase and Protease. Each of the enzymes has its own function in the decomposition or degradation of nutrients in the chicken manure. The specialized digestion induces the release of macro and micronutrients in manure for plant use. The enzymes break down food nutrients in the manure further into simpler elements, and thus absorption of nutrients is much easier.

Durabloom Nutrient Analysis Durabloom is a product registered with the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA). It contains macronutrients that plants need in larger doses. Macronutrients include Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium.

Durabloom also contains a variety of the basic nutrients that plants require for healthy growth. Of special importance are the micronutrients present, such as iron, manganese, copper and zinc. They are only needed in small doses but without them, plants have difficulty extracting nutrients from other foods. Micronutrients are often absent from commercial fertilizers, so Durabloom is an essential fertilizer to supply the deficiency of these micronutrients in the soil. It has been a common practice for farmers to use chicken manure as fertilizer in its raw form. But the traditional practice in the utilization of the manure as fertilizer is expensive, laborious, impractical, and poses health and environment threat.

In view of the above, Durabloom is a better alternative:

- Economical. One bag of Durabloom (50 kilos) replaces 3 bags of raw chicken manure. The cost of one bag of Durabloom is much less than that of 3 bags of raw manure. This is possible because the nutrients in Durabloom are conserved, and they are broken down in simple elements easy for plant roots to absorb. - Pollution control. No foul odor from Durabloom. The fermentation done on it prevents the emission of foul odor. No health hazard posed on people. - Less labor. You will need less labor to haul bags and apply Durabloom in the field. - Control of flies - Practically, no flies are attracted to the Durabloom due to the absence of foul odor. Durabloom smells like the good earth. - Supply of microelements. Durabloom contains manganese, iron, molybdenum, zinc, etc., needed by plants. Even with an overdose of chemical fertilizers, plants will not give you profits if

microelements are not available in the soil. - Less warehouse space. With 1 bag of Durabloom replacing 3 bags of raw chicken dung, Durabloom needs less bodega space. - No burning effect on plants. Durabloom has no burning effect on plants even applied right at the time of planting. It can be applied as basal, sidedressing and topdress. - More cropping. If you use raw chicken dung, you will wait for it to decay before planting the seedlings. So you make only 2 cropping for short-term plants like vegetables. Because it had been decayed, you can make 3 cropping.

Durabloom is a complete and balanced fertilizer. It consists of macronutrients such as: Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Sulfur. It also has trace elements such as: Boron, Sodium, Zinc, Manganese, Iron, and Copper. Moreover, it is also made up of organic matter for soil conditioning.

Durabloom is one of its kind. It has consistent ingredients; hence it provides consistent yield/production on crops. The product has been tested and proved to be effective in increasing the yield of vegetables, palay and corn, and fruit trees.

How to Apply Durabloom Durabloom can be applied as basal (before or during planting), sidedressing (about 2 weeks after planting), and topdress (during the growth of short-term plants and perennials). Apply only a handful for small plants like pechay and cabbage; more for larger plants. For palay apply 10 to 15 bags per hectare.

You may apply Durabloom by the following methods:

- Ring method. Make a dent around the spot where to anchor the plant and place the Durabloom in the dent. - Spot method. Make holes, about four, around the spot where to anchor the plant and place the Durabloom in the holes. - Anchor site method. Place Durabloom right at the hole where you anchor the seedling, which is a usual practice in Benguet (see photo) - Broadcast method. Broadcast Durabloom over the plants

Continuous usage of Durabloom in crops will:

Rejuvenate and condition the soil; Increase and sustain agricultural production; Pose no health hazard to humans; No environment pollution through air and water contamination; Generate 50 to 100% savings from chemical fertilizer usage; Cut expenses from fungicides and some pesticide use; and Produce organic and high quality vegetables or crops.

Durabloom Supply Supply of Durabloom is not a problem since it is locally manufactured and manufacturing plant are located in strategic areas all-over the country. The product is now being distributed and used from Aparri to Zamboanga. The Bio-Organic Fertilizer (BOF), processing centers are established in: Tarlac; Baao, Camarines Sur; Davao; Bulacan; and Bantayan Island, Cebu with a combined production capacity of 35,000 to 50,000 bags per month.

Durabloom R&D Recent study by Philrice, Batac, Ilocos Norte, showed that application of Durabloom increased the yield of rice (PJ 3-5) by 50 to 80%, and effectively addressed zinc deficiency observed in the areas where the study was conducted. (September 2002 to February 2003)

A study on the effect of different levels of commercial organic fertilizer Durabloom in combination with inorganic fertilizer at different levels on sweet pepper was conducted at the Mariano Marcos State University. Results indicated that plants fertilized with 2 tons Nova Pure +85-85-85 kg/ha NPK produced significantly taller plants, produced more branches and fruits… higher yield.

Test results in the study conducted by Benguet State University (BSU) on the “Effect of Durabloom on the Growth and Production of Cabbage and Potato” showed that Durabloom treated Cabbage and Potato obtained superior produce and higher yield compared with farmers practice with the use of chemical fertilizer.

Durabloom. Trials on carrot, potato, and other vegetables at Benguet State University gave good harvest even with Durabloom applied alone. Less cost of production.

Durabloom has been adopted by the Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) of Benguet province. In IPM's Plant Nutrition component, 4 bags of Durabloom, 1 bag of urea and 3 bags of complete fertilizer per ½ hectare were used. In dry-season cabbage production cost of fertilizer went down by 35%, according to Dr. Walfredo Rola of the College of Human Ecology, University of the Philippines Los Baños in his article "Economic Impact of Diadegma as a Biocontrol Agent Against Diamondback Moth of Cabbage" published in The Philippine Agricultural Scientist, April-June 1999 issue, volume 82, number 2, pages 200 to 212.
