I’m in need of a little advice. David: Hi, Jane. I’m really glad you decided to come over. No, I’m not busy right now. I’ve finished eating dinner, and I’m just sitting here relaxing. What do you want to talk about? Jane: Phil and I haven’t been getting along so well lately. I think it might be a good idea to do something sweet for him. I want him to know how much I care about him. David: That sounds like a great idea! You are a very sweet girl. I sure wish Joyce would think like you sometimes. So, what kind of advice do you need exactly? Jane: I can’t think of anything special to do for him. I mean, I can easily think of some things that a woman would appreciate, but I’m not sure about a man. David: Well, I know that Phil loves tools. He’s always talking about a new tool he just bought. Why don’t you buy him a new tool? You could also order him food from his favorite restaurant.

Advanced: Reading Comprehension If you have a significant other, I highly recommend you keep the spark of your relationship alive by finding ways to show your partner how much you appreciate him or her every day. Let’s look at a couple of very important points about being romantic. The following paragraphs will help you understand how to be romantic. Weekly dates—I recommend you have at least one date every week with your partner. It doesn’t have to be an expensive one, but at least find some way to spend a couple hours of time together. Communicate—Romantic gestures don’t take the place of real communication. Take time to talk about your goals, your dreams, your plans for the future, things you’re happy about, things you’d like to work on, and things you’re grateful for. Forget Valentines—Boycott Valentine’s Day because it makes people think they should be romantic only on special occasions. Instead, do something sweet or romantic every day.
