Canrig Canrig is one o the world’s leading suppliers o top drive drilling systems or the oil and gas industry. The company manuactures, markets and services a ull range o critically engineered portable and xed top drive systems or most land and oshore rigs. This includes top drives in every size and conguration to meet any drilling application whether marine, desert, jungle or arctic environments. Canrig has had a commitment to quality since the company’s inception. The rst top drive delivered by the company continues to perorm eciently in the eld. Since serial number 1 rolled o the line we have employed a policy o continu ous improvement that ensures that all Canrig top drives are as durable as that rst unit. Today Canrig top drives set the standard or saety, reliability and eciency. Superbly engineered products and unparalleled service have moved the company to the oreront o the top drive drilling industry.
Intelligent Accessories Canrig’s commitment to drilling eciency has resulted in the development o a line o intelligent top drive accessories. Each blends innovation with excellence in engineering.
AdvAnced diAgnostic system The Advanced Diagnostics System (ADS) monitors strategic points o the top drive unit and its associated control and power system, making intelligent assessments o malunctions and reporting possible causes. Such messages may include on-line help text or quick access to operating and troubleshooting instructions; ailure o power or control cables; presence o deective components; and parameters “out o adjustment”, with anticipated errors or deviations o expected results. The ADS communicates with the operator via a color monitor with touch sensitive screen to respond to messages. This Operator Interace Terminal also allows inputting correction actors and shut-down o non-essential unctions in case o equipment ailure.
trAveling equipment Anti-collision system Traveling equipment can sometimes accidentally come into contact with other parts o the rig, usually the crown, the foor or the racking board. When such contact occurs, the results can be injury to personnel and/or damage to equipment.
That’s why Canrig has developed the Traveling Equipment Anti-Collision System. This system sounds an alarm whenever contact between certain rig components is about to occur. I the alarm sounds and the problem is not corrected, the action in question is stopped utilizing an automatic shut down device. Two dierent versions o the system are available, TAC I or rigs without top drives and TAC II or rigs with top drives.
equipment condition monitoring system A step change in the approach to enhanced maintenance o equipment is underway across many industries. Equipment Condition Monitoring (ECM) o drilling rig equipment in real time is not only possible but proven to be eective. Using sophisticated sensors, purpose built sotware and webbased data collection, Canrig can deliver an ever greater level o equipment reliability and perormance.
enhAnced Well control The Canrig Lower Well Control Valve (LWCV) actuator is a signicant upgrade in reliability and unctionality rom any similar device. Designed as a replacement or existing actuators, it is eld retrottable to lower well control valves in use today. The dual rack and pinion open / close mechanism is not eected when operation is attempted while the pipe is rotating. The LWCV actuator is capable o unctioning valves in either direction against 2,500 PSI dierential pressure. With over 400 actuators in use we know this technology signicantly improves reliability, enhances well control and lowers operating costs.
tdsu-grAsshopper The TDSU-Grasshopper enables ast and orderly rig up o the cables and hoses that are required to run rom the TDSU to the rig foor. This is accomplished through the use o a hydraulically powered telescoping post combined with a series o articulating cable trays. The TDSU-Grasshopper is suitable or all land rig applications. It provides excellent protection o the cables and hoses during transport, rig up and operation.
