Invisibility There is so much that happens around us that is invisible. The influences of culture, politics, body language, neuroscience, feelings... all these seem invisible. But there is also the other type of invisible, being invisible in a room full of people, in a school full of children, in a book full of faces. This invisibility has profound effects on the way we interact with each ourselves, others, and the world around us. This year we are looking for speakers who are pursuing innovation in their particular field of study, and have a passion for making the world a better place. This event will focus on how we balance what we do for the betterment of humanity not just with scientific and design thinking but with empathy and connection to the global community. We are looking for people who have actioned projects, have conducted peer-reviewed research, are active in their pursuits (dance, music theater) and who want to share their idea to INSPIRE others to make change. How do you play with the idea of invisibility?

I will become involved in the TED community online, viewing videos and becoming comfortable with the TED ethos regarding the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. I will do this so I can be confident when answering questions about TED, TEDx and TEDxYouth events. I will stay updated and in contact with the TEDxYouthJingshan team via the TEDxYouthJingshan Facebook and Twitter feeds. I will be principled and arrive prepared for meetings and tasks on time. If I am unable to attend a meeting or task I will alert the organizers in advance. I will not quit, or opt out at a later date. I understand that by doing such I could jeopardize the entire event, the TEDx licence and devalue the work that each person has devoted to the event. I will maintain team spirit by being supportive, constructive and respectful of others’ opinions. I will respectfully question ideas and give suggestions to make the event better. I will try my best to preserve collective resources and take action to make the event as sustainable as possible. I will follow the TEDxYouthJingshan Code of Conduct and help others to do the same.
