Smart shaming is the act wherein people were being shamed for being smart. It is a view where intelligence is deemed as a negative trait. It is an emerging social issue in the Philippines. At this age, where people are able to access to the world Filipinos weren’t seem aware neither of smart shaming nor anti intellectualism. Instead of accepting the knowledge that some one knows, people refuse to accept the fact and would humiliate the one who was sharing the knowledge. The events that lead to smart shaming have some some connections to Anti Intellectualism. Anti Intellectualism is described as hostilit towards the intellectuals !"ikipedia#. !"ikipedia#. It ma be observed that some in$uential people who have known to have such high intellect used their power to oppress the commoners. %uring these times, people has some high regard regard for education, those who received higher education composed the academic elitist. Academic &litist was people who dominate politics and education. Thus, following some historical events the people grew out to loathe the people who of high intelligence. Turning Turning back back to smart shaming, shaming, it can also be observed observed in schools. Filipinos have high regard for education, though the growing trend of smart shaming has in$uenced the minds of the outh. Instead of going into some serious conversations people tend to avoid doing conversations that will challenge their beliefs. People take sharing of knowledge as a threat. People make fun of those persons who think out of the bo*. &speciall in school, when a student has something to sa sensible, people react in a di+erent wa. Students were not aware of smart shaming and how does it a+ect the one who is being smart shamed.
