Substation, Substation, Kachna Kachna is situat situated ed at 5 kms from Raipur Raipur. The main purpose purpose of this substation substation is to step step down the supply voltage from 132 KV to 33 KV. The 132 kV supply is incoming incoming from Urla Urla 1, Urla Urla 2 & Mahasamund. The two transformers with rating 40 MVA MVA & one one with 63 MVA steps down the supply voltage from 132KV to 33 KV and is supplied to 9 different feeders & 4 feeders in spare for future use, however however one more transformer of 200 KVA KVA is used to to convert convert 33kv to 0.4 kv for the internal use of the substation.

A current transforme transformerr (CT) is used for for measurement of electric electric currents. Current transformers are also known as instrument instrument transformers. When current in a circuit is too high to directly apply to measuring instruments, inst ruments, a current transformer transformer produces a reduced current accurately proportional proportional to the current in the circuit, which can be conveniently connected to measuring measuring and recording instruments. instr uments. A current transformer also isolates the measuring instruments from what may be very high voltage in the primary circuit. Current transformers transformer s are commonly commonly used in metering and protecti prot ective ve rela relays ys in the electrical pow p ower er industry .

WORKING PR INCIPLE PLE y
The most common design of CT consists of a length of wire wrapped many times around a silicon steel ring passed over the circuit being measured. m easured. The CT's primary primar y circuit therefore consists of a single 'turn' of o f conductor, conductor, with a secondary of many hundreds of turns. t urns. The primary winding may be a permanent part of the current transformer, with a heavy copper bar to carry current through the magnetic core.

Current transformers are used extensively for measuring current and monitoring the operation of the power grid. grid. Along with wit h voltage voltage leads, leads, revenue-grade CTs CTs drive the electrical utility's utility 's watt-hour watt-hour meter on virtually every building with three-phase service, and every residence with greater than 200 amp service. The CT is typically described by its current ratio ratio from primary primar y to secondary. secondary. Often, multiple CTs are installed insta lled as a "stack" for various uses (for example, protection devices and revenue metering may use separate CTs). CTs). Similarly potential transformers transform ers are used for measuring voltage and monitoring the operation of the power grid. grid.
Circuit Break Breaker er y y
INTRODUCTION:
A circuit breaker is an automatically-operated electrical switch designed to protect protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload by overload or short circuit. circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault conditio condition n and, by interrupting interruptin g continuity, continuity, to immediately discontinue electrical f low. low. Unlike a fuse fuse,, which operates once and then has to be replaced, a circuit circuit breaker can be reset (either (eit her manually or automatically) to resume normal operation. Circuit breakers are made in varying varyi ng sizes, from small devices dev ices that protect an individual household ho usehold appliance appli ance up to to large switchgear designed to protect protect high voltage circuits feeding an entire entire city. city.
